Professor Summer vs Zeus! ~ NFL Pick Em Showdown ~ Week 9
5 years ago
Yet another tie. It's possible that the first person to 4 points is going to win this series outright, maybe even 3. But, I want to make to even this up finally. Let's go!
CURRENT SCORE
Summer: 2
Zeus: 1
PICK 1
~Seattle Seahawks cover against the Buffalo Bills (-3.0)
Tricky when picking a road favorite, but I am having less faith in the Buffalo offense by the week. I don't see them keeping up with a red hot offense like Seattle, even with the Seahawks's mediocre defense. This will be a good game, but I think the Bills will fall behind too much come the 4th quarter.
RESULT: Bills 44 Seahawks 34 (LOSS)
The Bills offense remembered who they actually are. True, they feasted on a weak Seahawks, but I wasn't expecting THAT big of a shootout. Very hard to predict when teams can get hot. I got to get riskier with my picks besides choosing the obvious favorite.
PICK 2
~Baltimore Ravens outright beat the Indianapolis Colts (EVEN)
No line to worry about? Count me in on this toss up game. I think the Ravens, under more pressure than the Colts right now, will find a way to get it done on the road.
RESULT: Colts 10 Ravens 24 (WIN)
Colts are still a damn good team, but the Ravens took care of business to keep in contention for the AFC North crown.
PICK 3
~TOMpa Bay Buccaneers cover against the New Orleans Saints (-4.5) (PONE'S GAME OF THE WEEK)
I am officially calling out the New Orleans Saints as the frauds they are. This is a revenge game for the Bucs, and I think they will expose their division foe in front of national television. If Brady is the GOAT, these are the short of games where he rises up.
RESULT: Bucs 3 Saints 38 (LOSS)
Annnnnnd, all talks of the Bucs being Super Bowl contenders should end. This was flat out EMBARASSING! Good to see the real Saints return to form.
Overall result: 1-2 (TIED)
This is getting very annoying with how often I miss on these picks. Eventually, one of us has to give. With only 8 weeks left in this competition, my chances of catching up are dwindling fast.
Unofficial gut reaction picks below. NO SPREAD CONSIDERED! (Current Record 58-32). Bolded picks are ones that came true. Italicized is wrong picks.
Texans over Jaguars (It's tanking time for the Jags. Minshew isn't even playing, so their offense will only continue to worsen. Their inexperience defense doesn't help matters either)
Dolphins over Cardinals (My Phins need to prove they are ready to be consistent against good teams. Young talent versus young talent. Tua, this is your time to prove the doubters wrong!)
Broncos over Falcons (Never trust the Fail-cons to win close games. Even if they're playing spoiler right now, the Broncos are actually clawing back into the playoff race. This is a must win game for them)
Titans over Bears (Whoever loses, I am seriously going to doubt their playoff chances. While it's better for the Titans to lose, I rather see them go back to the playoffs and compete. Fun team to watch despite the 2 game skid)
Chiefs over Panthers (Should be over by the 4th quarter. The Panthers are getting worse every week it seems. They're not standing up to the champs)
Vikings over Lions (Vikings got a huge win, and with a soft schedule ahead, they could be a sneaker into the playoff window still)
Washington over Giants (The G-Men won't win with Daniel Jones as their QB. They should focus on tanking at this point)
Chargers over Raiders (PONE'S UPSET OF THE WEEK) (This result needs to happen in order to help my Phins move up in the playoff race. I don't think the Raiders are anything too special this year. As long as the Chargers are playing from behind instead of ahead, they can win on their reverse luck!)
Steelers over Cowboys (Why is this a primetime game? To laugh at an injured and demoralized team? Just end the Cowboys season already. They are a hot mess right now)
Patriots over Jets (Unless Bill Bellichik wants to ruin the Jets tank, he's not going to lose to Adam Gase like this. People may start believing in Cam again after this garbage game)
