Plenty of fish is a solid maybe. I always got spam on it. A good way to know if its spam is check the age, location and joined date.

There's your usual dating sites, but "hot as lava and at least did a year jail time" gets the crazy good looking ladies and anywhere "below" that it's basically "picking scraps". BUT a few friends actually found long term relationships there, if you're willing to sift through all the spam, gold diggers and crazy people.
Otherwise: get out there, social gatherings with friends are always a solid way to get out there. Expand your social network. Weave a web sort to say. Yes the Global Sniffles will make that difficult, but relations are still happening that way. And above all: DON'T be needy. It'll both decimate your network and put ladies off.

The best way to create organic relationships that last, is to find people in a setting you enjoy being in.At the moment, COVID is making that tricky, but when things have settled down, your best bet is to out and do things and be in places where you can check two major boxes:
1. DO something you enjoy
2. Directly interact with others doing the same thing.

THis creates a defacto common interest where you can talk to people naturally without coming across as forced. It's a non-hostile meeting ground, and assuming you've picked something you really do enjoy, people tend to find you more attractive when you're having fun.

I second what redtail is saying. My brother found his wife through D&D with local people (since that's probably better/easier to interact and to try and hang out with).

Now someone who's also okay with furry stuff is probably more difficult, but doing something you enjoy first and foremost with others helps.

Excellent; well then my suggestion is basically sit down where a group of people are at a con; generally suggest any type of gaming and get to know those people or if you have a local game store do the same thing; of course you'll want to move slowly before just blurting out information about yourself but this is what I've found to be easiest way to meet people.

How long do you give it; one thing to remember how women who are into 'nerdy' stuff is that they get hit on constantly; really the only thing you want to do is sit down play a game; possibly introduce yourself; sometimes you might want to wait till the game is over to do this or even possibly the second time you encounter them introduce yourself.

The thing is to be there but not be intrusive; it's tricky but it can be done.

Also I think you said something about not finding a woman your own age or older; depending on your age; 30s-40s you'll find that that very few females are not into 'nerdy' stuff and you might want to look for someone younger who has grown up in the video game/card game generation; although if you are in your 20s that would be kind of hard.

Try some younger girls then is my best suggestion; beyond that I"m not sure what other advice to give.

Find a girl who looks like she'd into whatever creepy bullshit you like and ask her out. If she says no,say "ok" and leave her alone. If she says yes,you got a shot. That's really all it boils down to these days since pretty much any meeting place is either shut down or under Covid bullshit,but even before that,finding someone you just connect with was always a bitch. Nothing's really done anything to fix that.

So just go out,ask nicely,and see where it goes. It's really the only thing that works.

There's a chance you might not find someone with your exact likes, but if you're open to that idea, it does broaden your search.

I'd suggest trying out fetlife... Granted been years since I've paid attention to there, but finding someone already in the basic kink scene may be easier than fully eye opening a random soul. It's not really a hook up site I think but you may catch the budding curious honesty and find someone who's quietly looking for your brand of weird because they also don't know how to fully properly express it. I've more or less accepted that whoever I meet won't know furry much before me. Accepting is great, joining would be a dream.. Gotta find a sitter for the con weekends though at that point ;p

Most dating sites, free ones that is, pay people to act like they're interested. Basically you can't talk to them because they check a box to only receive messages from people who pay. Then there's the people who'll ask you for money from the jump. I can't offer any real advice because I've been on the hunt too. I don't have too many specifics but there's a couple issues with the current pool of choices that keeps me solo. More money for me!
