The Voice of Dog

The wonderfully talented Khaki (aka
osfer) has recorded a beautiful narration of my story 'Abstinence' on his podcast, The Voice Of Dog: https://www.thevoice.dog/episode/ab.....ce-by-anhedral
A civil servant in a dead-end job has an exciting second life of wings and scales. Can he keep both? And will his wife ever understand?
I'm honoured and delighted by this, more than words can say. Khaki's work is nuanced and utterly professional; through his performance, he highlights angles to my story that I never even knew were there. Go check out the many stories by different authors that Khaki has brought to life!

I'll have to give it a listen. I thought that story was pretty intriguing but it would be quite interesting to hear someone else's interpretation.
*chuckles...
welcome to my (our) world...

The effect of readers spotting angles and interpretations that you never intended, but which totally make sense, started happening to me way back with my fanfiction. It shocked me at the time; nowadays I almost expect it. A get a big smile whenever it happens, because it shows that a reader has truly engaged with the story :) I've even given it a name: 'emegent propeties' in fiction. (And just how ridiculously pretentious is that??)
thanks for the tip and I will be giving him a list...

I'm really glad you two hooked up for this. It's wonderful to listen to.
Khaki has great flexibility with accents, to the extent that his template for submissions allows the writer to specify things like nationality, age, and personality traits. For an example of just how versatile he can be with voices, go have a listen to 'Hot Dog' by Ben Goodridge: https://www.thevoice.dog/episode/ho.....-ben-goodridge
(Ben's a fantastic writer, one of my current favourites.)
