Regarding Tato

So for anyone who has been following Tato, they would know that starting in 2021 they will no longer be drawing Fan Art moving to original creations only.
Now as someone who rather shamelessly merged MLP and Pokemon/Digimon together for my characters, that does sorta effect me a fair bit. As not only do I tend to join in group picture with Tates using those characters, but Tato has been doing the refernces for my characters pretty much since I started.
I will say that whilst I know Tatos move has been met with mixed response in the community, I am perfectly fine with Tato taking this direction for their art. You can’t force someone to draw what they don’t want to draw and if they want to go in a new direction, they are fine to do so. I wish Tato best of luck in the new direction they will take for arts.
I am also trying to think up possible ideas for future Tato ideas with streams that will abide by the new rules, this will probably relate to Robotic style characters (Like the K.1.T.T.3.N. and the K.1.T.5.), frame like structures like profile cards or Trading Card Frames, add maybe the odd Diaper Design here and there as well.
Though I am a person who likes my ponies and will probably still focus on them. So the old characters will hang around, there will be Christmas art for them coming up next month (Including a really silly idea I wish I thought up earlier in the month) and the old Tato refs will be used, New refs will likely come from other artists (I should thank Vitriolink, Moorph, SierraFox, ArtieCanvas and CinammonTwist for their various help in conceptualising characters over the years as well) and I still hope to bring cute pony art for longer (Let’s see how Gen 5 mixes up my art style)
If you want to see Tato drawing cute ponies for one last time, I have one last stream booked with Tato happening later today at 9pm BST, gonna be some character creation fun with something old and something new. I’ll post a journal with a Piczel link before it starts. So I hope to see you all there tonight!

Im confused, I thought tato wouldnt draw copywritten characters, but would still draw OCs? Like... He wont draw say, pinkie pie, but would draw your own pony OC, did he change that?

That doesnt make any sense to me. I dont get to get pony based art simply because the MLP existing now? Thats like saying you cant have a superhero OC becuase of the MCU.

Tato explained it in some comments, but that's not how it works. You can have a super hero character. But you can't have a super hero character that's clearly meant to be part of the avengers, or is a teeneager with a quirk ala My Hero Acadamia. You can have 'ponies', you just can't have MLP ponies with cutie marks.
