silent hill

K, I finda feel stupid.
So I hadn't watched the Silent Hill movie when it first came out. I thought "I'm not really a Silent Hill fan. The game looks awesome, but I just don't have the guts to play it, so therefore I'm not gonna understand the movie a whole lot, and thusly won't appreciate it to its fullest". That was a few years ago.
So I got one of those Free Movie Rental coupons from Blockbuster, and as I was skimming the shelves for something to watch (I was in the mood for something scary), I came across the Silent Hill movie and thought "Okay, what the heck. Let's just watch it and get it out of the way". Considering I hadn't heard anyone make a big fuss over the movie, I thought it was gonna suck to some degree.
I took it home, watched it, and just say on my couch afterwards, slack-jawed, in complete awe. I completely loved the movie, every little aspect of it. It was the most aesthetically beautiful movie I had ever seen, and the shots were simply genious; ever camera angle was so well thought-out. The plot pulled together in the end and I understood everything, even though I had never played the games (I've played the beginning of the 4th game, but it got too scary for me). The ending left me wanting moar, and the soundtrack was enthralling (done by the original games' music guy, I've learned). I loved everything.
So then I thought "Why hasn't anyone brought up this movie before? Am I alone in thinking this is so good?" I went online, and lo and behold, professional movie critics gave it horrible reviews. They said it was beautiful but confusing. One guy just ripped on Christophe Gans for being a video game nerd with too much spending money.
So now I check for other gamers' reviews. Turns out they liked it. Actually, more like they were torn, but leaning towards liking it. I'm sure I've missed a few reviews from overly-obsessed gaming nerds who rip on every little detail as being inaccurate, but it's not like anyone pays attention to those (so shut up all you little Avatar-obsessed shitbags, M. Night got the gist of it).
I gotta say, I wish I could get the image of the little girl being burnt alive slowly and painfully out of my head, but other than that, the movie was fantastic. Does anyone else agree with me? Or am I overlooking some key facts?

Weird thing is, is that the character in the movie should of been a Guy, seeing as it looks like it's based from the First game.
and those camera views especially the part when Rose is chasing Sharon for the first time, that part is exactly like the first Silent Hill game.
The movie follows the story of the first game very well but mixes it up quite a bit to keep them interesting for people who have already played the game and visa verso.
My favorite games were the first and the 3rd, people love the 2nd but I never got into that one, but after 3 it went down hill at least for me.
1 & 3 are directly linked with about 10 or so years later.
as for the 2nd, I heard there was a lot of linking but I also heard the opposite so I dunno for sure on that one...
I recommend toughing it up and playing them... ^ ^'
