Sometimes you just need a microscope
A breakdown of species and frequencies of occurrence within the empire, federation, swarm, squids, and unaffiliated(Draconids)
Distinguishable Imperial Species
Lupine - Common (Founding Species, story in the works)
Corvid - Uncommon (Founding Species, co-evolved with Lupines)
Pachydermata - Variable (Founding Species, comprised of thick skinned mammals, elephants, rhinos, hippos, and boars)
Bovine - Common (Founding Species, quazi-uplift, late to bronze age)
Vulpine - Common (Story about this later, complicated)
Equine - Uncommon (Early acquisition, age of expansion)
Cirolanidae - Exceedingly rare (Early acquisition, age of expansion)
Chiroptera - Uncommon (Mid acquisition, age of expansion, wildly diverse)
Nudibranchs - Exceedingly rare (Accidental discovery and incorporation. This is going to be fun to write)
Cervine - Uncommon (Late acquisition, age of expansion)
Ursine - Rare (Late Acquisition, age of expansion.)
Procyon - Rare (Late acquisition, age of expansion. Always at least one in a diplomatic mission. Due to that, most contacts assume them to be common, this is done for disinformation purposes)
Distinguishable Federation Species
Peafoul - Uncommon (Founding Species, notoriously vain)
Dromornithidae/Phorusrhacids - Variable (Founding Species, squabble with Peafoul constantly)
Mustelids - Common (Founding species)
Varanidae - Common (Founding species)
Canine - Common (Second Founding)
Caprinae - Uncommon (Founding Species)
Formicidae - Rare (Founding Species)
Mantids - Rare (Second Founding)
Leporids - Uncommon (Second Founding)
Elasmobranchii - Exceedingly rare (Second Founding)
Tortoises - Uncommon (Second Founding)
Vulpine - Common (Complicated)
Distinguishable Squid Species (They need a better name, will work on that)
Cephalopoda - Common (Founding Species)
Rorquals - Exceedingly rare (Founding species)
Eurypterids- Common (Founding Species)
Placeholder Name - Exceedingly rare [Basing this off of the Ceadeus from monster hunter world]
Spiniform - Uncommon (Founding species)
This is going to be work in progress.
Swarm Species
Swarmers (Primary, left over bioweapon from a long forgotten war.)
- Anything that ends up here that isn't a swarmer is assumed to be food, a reproductive recepitcle, or a recreational object. While there are several distinct species they keep (felines being a favored food source) their involvement is, at best, as livestock.
Distinguishable species of the Cartel
Any and all, to varying degrees. This includes, albeit rarely, divergent members of the swarm. Their primary overseers tend to be Fungonids - sentient massive fungi who oversee the day to day of operations. This ties heavily into their interest in rogue planets, highly radioactive rogue planets.
