News regarding the Midnight Fox project

Hey so my current passion project, "Midnight Fox" it might be on hold for a while so me and my co-writers, JW Edwards and Beth can work out some of the stumbling blocks we came across.
For one, Midnight Fox might not be a fox anymore because the name "Midnight Fox" is already an existing property as it was the name of a novel by Betsy Byars released in the early 1970s. So essentially the story would remain the same but I don't know if we can use the name or keep the character Reed a fox.
Two, we also contemplated that while foxes are very popular in the community, they also have been overused in the media and done to death. (I'm looking at you Disney).
Plus I do admit that Scottytheman 's Ray Fox was a direct inspiration for Midnight Fox, I also didn't want to make it look like I'm ripping him off.
I'm not shelving the project entirely, because we worked so hard writing majority of the manuscript for the graphic novel, and like I said this was a passion project of mine that I really hope to get off the ground someday.

Especially if it's a 50-year old novel you didn't know about. Why do you think TVTropes has namespaces and dates appended to titles?
