Computer repair is a nightmare :')

PRICES & INFO | TERMS OF SERVICE | ADOPTS & YCHSAround early November I decided I needed to upgrade my CPU to one of those new(ish) Ryzen 9s, but to do that, I'd need a new motherboard. I then spent an unnecessary amount of time on PCPartPicker to find the right one, and made the purchase. I got both in the mail and got ready to swap out the parts. Little did I know it would be 8 agonizing hours of me trying to figure out why my PC wouldn't boot. It was awful.
Eventually I narrowed it down to faulty RAM slots - apparently the MOBO would only take 1-2 RAM sticks, and only in the first and second slots. If the third or fourth slot had anything in it, it simply wouldn't boot. Given that my only source of income and entertainment is tied to my PC, this meant crushing amounts of stress for me. Eventually I got it to run with two RAM sticks, and I ordered a new motherboard in the mean time, which arrived in two days. Installing the new motherboard was much easier, and everything booted up just fine. I thought that was the end of it...
...but I thought wrong :') fast forward two weeks (today), my computer shuts down for no reason. Fortunately I wasn't drawing at that exact moment, but I was pretty furious it had just crapped out on me. It booted once after that, then shut down again, and refused to boot from then on. Back to the living hell that is computer repair, but this time it's December, with most MOBOs currently out of stock. The thought of potentially going two weeks with no work and no entertainment had me in a panic. I decided to downgrade back to my old MOBO and CPU for the time being, praying that it would still work. In the process I discovered that the seating for my old heat sink had snapped, and it doesn't make full contact with the CPU anymore. Great. I also accidentally bent the pins that connect to the cord for the front USB slots, so one of the ports doesn't work anymore, meaning I basically won't ever get to resell this motherboard. Double great.
But fortunately, my PC booted with my old setup. Given the heat sink is a sandwich short of a picnic, I now have to constantly monitor the core temperature. I don't think I'll be able to do resource intensive stuff like gaming or opening a lot of tabs, but at least I can watch videos and draw, so I'm not completely shit out of luck. I ended up caving and bought a more expensive MOBO (about $250), and that'll be here on Monday. I seriously hope this one works... this stuff is awful for my health.
Overall this might mean delays in art, it just depends on the new motherboard. So yeah, that's been my last two weeks or so :P hope things have been going better for you all.

Not the same situation, but even when you have your ass covered to have a professional repair done, the process is slow and infuriating.
