SOOO Looks like we're having a second boy (#boymom4life). I LOOOOVE Vintage names (like, 19th century-esque vintage) but my hubs and I cannot agree on a good name. Suggestions are always welcome!
Oh my goodness Congratulations!!!! How far along? Are you doing ok? You and your husband should have a veto system lol (That is how we came up with my daughters name. I digress) I have always been partial to Scottish names because they always sound so mystical and dreamy but thats just me.
Ross
Aulay
Geordie
Galen
Aric
Wyatt
Dante
Blake
Andrew
Carlton
Ian
Okay so sorry got carried away I have alot more but teehe *blushes* I just love babies. Again Congratulations!!!
The morning sickness is awful but it's getting better! We actually do have a veto system, lol, but we've vetoed everything so far. My cousin named her son Wyatt, but oh gosh I LOVE Aric and Geordie!
I never had morning sickness I did alot of walking and that made my labor super easy and fast less than one hour with her being born within 5 seconds (2 pushes and done) teehee
My mom liked these morning sickness lolis and ginger beer (its not actual beer its like an Aussie pop or so im told) but anyways I am so happy for you and your mate.
I hope to see pictures one day. Hugs I hope you the best.
also remember the poor kid's gotta live with that name thru school...(friend of mine seriously named his kid Cyril...and NOT 'cause of Archer!?)
robert ERVIN howard (conan), howard PHILLIP love craft (cthullu), EDGAR rice burroughs (tarzan), arthur CHARLES clarke (2001), robert ANSON heinlein (stranger in a strange land), ray DOUGLAS bradbury (martian chronicles something wicked this way comes), robert ANTON wilson (the illuminati novels cosmic trigger)...
or go another way...
Vlad Dracul/Tepes, Victor Von Frankenstein, Ozymandias, Brom Stoker, Percy Bysshe Shelly, George Gordon, Byron,, William Butler Yeats...
haha we're teachers, so we're trying to be cognizant of the name we choose! Yeats (spelling Yates) was actually one of my top contenders for a name. We were thinking of a vintage-y first name, and a more modern middle name so he can choose whatever he wants to go by.
Also I'm oddly partial to biblical names like Isaac, Isaiah, Ezra, Abijah (or Abia), Raphael, Gabriel, Abraham, Noah, Moses and such. So I'm probably zero help lol!
I'm missing my male relatives something fierce, so:
Anthony (his name was Antonio)
Vincent (his name was Vincente)
Charles
I'd also suggest my late uncle's name, because it was pretty vintage but I'm not sure if you want to stick to English names? My uncle was Guadalupe. Meaning "of the valley of the wolf". It's considered a holy name.
I'll just give the same advice I give to anyone who is trying to think of a name for their future kid: look at any name through the eyes of a grade schooler. If you can find a way to make fun of it, try a different name. If you can very easily find a way to make fun of it, definitely go with a different name. But if you can't think of any way to mock a name, put it on the short list of contenders. And similarly, look at any name through the eyes of a hiring manager at a company. I have seen some truly awful names that would make it very hard for someone in business to take seriously, thus making it harder for that kid to find a good job as a future adult.
that's great advice. Luckily we were never teased about our names--I just want something easy to pronounce, simple, but will work for social reasons and career reasons!
the child's fathers name, His fathers name, Your fathers name, your grandfathers name
your favorite authors name, your favorite boys name, some random furries name
name them for a color you love
or... BACON, because everybody loves Bacon.
actually, don;t ask me, I' horrible with names. my ex-wife named out kids, and she was on morphine at the time and did a better job naming them than I could have done.
just sayin that BACON would be an awesome name for a boy...
I have no idea what counts as 19th Century vintage when it comes to names, but I've always been rather partial to Sebastian, myself. Or maybe Howard.
Whatever name you pick, I hope you and your family will have an amazing year in '21, too!
Second: Alexander (Alex for short)
Not sure if it is what you are looking for.
Maybe Tod?
