I agree entirely. The whole "side with us or we hate you" mindset is toxic as hell, as is the "pick a side or you aren't valid" mentality.

Neither is healthy. If someone's not on your side, or dares to not take a side, that doesn't make them automatically your enemy, goddammit.

I agree with Atma with this, I don't think that's your problem because your country has nothing to do with this. Sure, America isn't perfect, but you shouldn't talk trash about American people. And this is the reason why I hate politics in general.

When the news in my country won't shut up about American politics and has a heavy bias towards the left, it becomes my problem. Ditto when politics start awkwardly shoehorning themselves into things I once enjoyed, in ways that used to be SUBTLE. This, and people I consider friends are being attacked because they aren't fully on board with everything either extreme spews.

I don't actively seek it out. I hear the news at work, either from the radio I can't turn off or change station or customers chatting me up.
