Caillou Now Off PBS

I heard that this show was on PBS but parents hated it because Caillou himself was supposed to be a whiny, obnoxious brat. Does anybody know more?

I actually like more current affairs like news. When I was younger, though, yeah I did like Caillou, but when I grew up, I wasn't ever whiny.

I remember years ago when people complained about Barney the Dinosaur. I never saw Caillou, but doing some digging, I was shocked that PBS, of all people, would air a show about somebody so awful.
