I have a house gecko oc (like this one https://ec.i.uol.com.br/economia/20....._1920x1080.jpg ), sometimes I call it "lizard" and I don't know if it's correct to call this animal like this

All geckos are lizards but not all lizards are geckos.

What exactly makes a lizard a gecko? just it's size?
It's okay to call a gecko a lizard? or it's too uncommon to call a gecko like that?
I think the word lizard sounds funny and I like to use it
