why retroactively blame yourself?

I doubt change of ownership will bring better perspective for this site.

I'm not tryna blame myself but I will admit I'm a bit salty. I had asked like once a year for 3 years. And they never indicated they'd ever do name changes so I'm just like "bruh"

and speaking of alternative sites.
When you read their TOS/COC - you realize they have the same amount of restrictions if not even more of them.
So there's barely any actual alternative, as it's mostly about picking least worst thing.

I'm still salty that furries never migrated to Weasyl, the site went open source and we could have just added the missing features over there..

I had a weasyl and it really just never took off. Like a bunch of people I follow made accounts then just... didn't do anything.

Same with whatever the most recent furry art site was, I can't even remember what it was called. furrylife or something.

Such is the power of inertia. The artists are on FA, the commissioners are on FA, so everyone ends up back on FA no matter how broken the site is. Same story with Twitter and it took the worst website redesign in history to take a chunk out of DeviantArt...
