Earlier in the week I noticed a difference in my eyesight; in my left eye everything seems brighter. In my right eye my vision is noticeably darker. Is this part of the whole "getting older" thing? Or could this be something more serious?
I've also decided to continue posting artwork and comic pages here, just not quite as often as I want to increase my skill in drawing. Coloring too.

is it an overall difference in brightness? or is it like a shadow in the way?
i ask as i once had a retina be knocked lose and it would shadow the rear of the eye making the overall light darker tilted my head to the right and eye would black out completely
sooner the better
My left eye tends to pick up light quite a bit worse then the right as well. It's just something I've had all my life, however. I've got genetic history of eye problems and blindness in my family, so when ever something happens, I am more prone to visiting the eye doctor.
If your able to, I'd strongly recomend seeing an eye doctor, because it'd be a better safe then sorry thing.
I'm not an eye doctor, I can't say for a fact that they ARE signs of an issue with your retinas, but that's more or less the information I was given when I reported similar issues to my doctor.
More then likely, it's nothing and everything is normal and just part of aging. Knowing that you've got a history of gloc with your family, 's really something that'cha should get checked on at least once every year or two. Normal preventative maintenance eye exam and the like, nothing to fancy. I dun know how hard that'd be to set up through the VA, though.
If you do have a glacoma problem in the family have it checked immediately. That's like diabieties. It sneeks up on you like a preditor after prey. You may never see it coming :\
Good luck!

So yes, get your eyes checked quickly. The faster you get a problem checked, the better the chances of keeping your eyes.
