Let's do an ask -you- anything!
We always do the AMA in august, so i thought what the flop, why not turn it around. Sure, february would probably be the more fitting month with it being the exact opposite of august, but unfortunately i dont have a time machine yet.
So, should be pretty simple, instead of me answering questions, it'll be your turn to shed some light onto some things i wondered about you and the others who follow my stuff.
Of course many of these can just be answered either yes or no or simple a picture title, but do feel free to elaborate a bit if you like.
1. How long have you been following or been aware of my artwork?
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
5. Has any of my art ever caused action beyond just looking at- and faving it? What i mean by that is like perhaps you got the artists of the amazon book because of that ant picture, perhaps you decided to support a painted dog conservation, or some painting simply made you hop onto wikipedia to dig a little deeper into something.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.

I've been following for around 2017s!
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I've decided to follow you because (not sorry to say) all your artworks are supergreat and the style was superneat, I can't decide one.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Actually, this amazes me still: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/11221901/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
No, I'm sorry ;n;
Not in my case, always been supporting since 2017s every single piece of you watching the development and improvment <3 always wanted to learn from your style. Fullcolor and renders are stunning, not saying for flattering.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
It did A LOT! Anatomically DID!!
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
It was for helping me raising up and improving. Been drawing since 2012!
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Absolutely yes.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
Sorry, nothing. I hope I could afford a piece with my golden eagle, something pretty like freedom with a great japanese landscape behind, but can't so I keep supporting you daily and promoting, you totally deserve. Again, not flattering.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
It's perfect like he is ;_;
Thank you and let's go keep improving together!
I've been following you as long as I've seen your work. Can't be sure of the picture, but the story I did was on 04/21/2016, and I used the image of Nomax.
I love all your pictures.
No sexual fantasies - that would be like asking me if I ever had a 'thing' for Mahatma Gandi. I would love to have had the opportunity to just speak with him, as I consider him wise, but cuddle? (Vixyy is poking me in the side and hissing that I should shut up, as I am obviously not speaking with her in mind... ouch... OUCH! OK, stop it already.)
Actions beyond? well of course - I'm a writer and things inspire me. And of course your art has been helpful.
I only paint with words - the house not included, and that's a work in process.
Dislike about your art - really???? There is nothing to dislike.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax. - I have a rule of thumb; if it's perfect, leave it the heck alone.
Vixyy
V.
2. I think it was this one! https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31420961/
3. This is the one I come back to the most often I think, so I'll go with that https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31662881/
4. Nope :D
5. Beyond just studying the artwork for technique and details? Hmm don't think so, no. Although I did come very close to getting the Amazon book
6. Definitely, as mentioned in #3 I sometimes use your art as reference when drawing myself
7. Drawing came way before I discovered you, but it has definitely helped me in wanting to improve!
8. Painted Dogs, but hyenas are great too
9. Probably the amount of artificial noise you put over your drawings, it's a trend that some artists do (similar to applying chromatic aberration for no reason) which I dislike
10. I'm not sure if it's still current, but I'd personally remove the little ponytail at the back :D
2. That's.. a tough question. Gimme a moment. Okay, it was either https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24710814/, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/18031373/, or https://www.furaffinity.net/view/17085922/. I'm leaning more towards the first option, though I had the other two as phone backgrounds for a long time.. so maybe I've been following your art for longer than even I knew?
3. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/20421423/ definitely. Lighting, texture, feel.. it's all so.. precise? It feels just as casual as a dude preparing to eat food on break should. And I love that so Dog damn much.
4. No. I follow you exclusively for your SFW art, so that's also how I see your character. Heck, I didn't even *know* you did NSFW art until I saw that cover art you made for Hunt and Snare. I was like, wait, what? Then turned off the SFW filter and saw just how much NSFW you actually did alongside the clean art.
5. No, not really. Other than the aforementioned H&S cover art, which made me think "oh, cool, a furry shooter game!" until I saw what the game's focus actually was, I cannot think of any similar instance.
6. Well, it's been inspirational, and has allowed me to just stop worrying about stuff from time to time and just look at some good fluffing art. It also made me value depth of field and other kinds of post-FX a lot more than I did prior. Not sure if that counts but yee.
7. Oh.. yeah, actually. I tried my hand at painting a few times. Didn't work out, so I quickly ended up giving up rather quickly. Might try again later in the future though.
8. Hyenas, sorry dude. Nothing beats those thick yeen beans. Jokes aside, though, I dunno. The head looks similar enough for my brain to not really make a distinction between them. So I guess it's a draw?
9. Eh.. nothing? No, seriously, there really isn't anything I can think of. Sorry to say, but you're one of my faves for a reason.
10. Also nothing. Your character, you do what you want with him. You know more about colour theory and proportions than I could ever dream of, anyways. Any changes I'd make would be a matter of taste - like giving him thicker, more 'animalistic' fingers. Wait, crap, that counts, doesn't it?
And yeah, art's not for everyone. I feel the furry fandom has a tendency to kind of idealize it a bit by suggesting everyone to draw something, but i totally get you, it's just not something everyone enjoys obviously.
Hey, thicker fingers still counts, i didn't ask for objectively better things or anything like that after all. All it can be is ever a subjective suggestion. Honestly i would love the more paw-like hand style as well, and there certainly was a time where i tried, it just... was hard and i decided to go regular hand like.
Plus, it can be hard to make them work in some situation like holding a gun or what have you. They just tend to be a bit clumsy to draw then.
1. How long have you been following or been aware of my artwork?
Uhhh aware probably 2 years now, directly following probably around 1
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
First I saw is hard to pin down tbh but could be this one https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29004433/ , made me follow? Could be this one https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35084405/
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Really hard choice but this one... https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38124670/ just really great with that background. That could be framed and go onto a wall.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Nope, not at all.
Uhhh I'm not one to fav much but sometimes good works like that spark my creativity and influence what I want to get of my own with my characters or write a story to it. Often that becomes victim of my laziness. Still an influence over my own art related decisions.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Not an artist, so no but as mentioned: it is a good inspiration from time to time. :D
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Damn my art teach for never attempting that again.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Hyenas. Friend of mine made sure to have some heart for em.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
I don't have much to murmur about but sometimes it bothers me that due to the painted style it looks a bit too smushed. Like... those details are really good but I want more. Especially considering that you can indeed do it. Though that is more a personal taste thing than a real issue.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Uhhhh I'm not a dog/ canine person in the first place so I can't really contribute anything useful.
And i mean with the smushed up thing, everything suggested there would in the end be personal taste, so no worries. I get ya as well and it's also something that i always adjust back and forth and when you go through my work you'll see periods where stuff is a little cleaner, then rougher, then cleaner again etc. It's an area where i very much tend to slide around a bit.
Yeaaa, that's what I mean with "you can definitely do it" ^^
Seen a few really great examples of that in your gallery and it is a treat every time something new comes to join it.
2. This I do remember: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/16032419/
3. Favourite: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/17422865/
4. Yes.
5. Nope nothing like that. Sorry.
6. Not yet. But maybe someday.
7. Never started painting...sorry.
8. Hyenas
9. Sometimes the realistic approach of it can be...jarring. Like how weird would it be to see Toy Story as a stop motion film now after the CGI version, jarring.
10. Remove the pony tail...that's about it.
#2. I think it was a few maritime pictures featuring yourself that got my attention ('Setting Sail,' for instance) to the degree I followed you.
#3. 'Setting Sail' 1 and 2, 'To the Infinity Pool and Beyond,' or the picture you did for me. Among others.
#4. I don't believe so, although canine boys dressed in period clothing -are- kind of my type, undeniably =) Plus painted dogs are hot!
#5. I did donate to the painted dog conservation program and follow their twitter because of you =)
#6. Your art does provoke ideas no other artist's art has! There's a particular idea I've wanted to commission from you for years (period piece with maritime theme) for use among other things as my twitter banner image that someday when I'm not poor I look forward to getting from you.
#7. I'm afraid not, I write well I'm told but I don't draw.
#8. Painted dogs! Though I like both, painted dogs are a bit prettier than hyenas.
#9. the only (very mind) critique I can think of is, if drawing a character with a hair tuft on their head, make it a tiny bit longer?
#10. A sword (of the sort 18th century naval officers carried) hung in scabbard would fit him well.
And gosh, only 3 years? Like you're certainly one of the followers that i end up remembering, so it actually surprised me that it was just 3 years, but then again i get surprised by my 2018 art as well, so maybe time is just weird.
2. First pic I remember - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/12619552/ . What made me follow you - maybe this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13768724/ or maybe that https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23757441/ . I don't remember.
3. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31489948/
4. Maybe a couple of times.
5-6-7. This picture https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23757441/ was particularly inspiring and made me draw something similar, but nowhere near as good.
8. Painted Dogs.
9. SFW art. Ok, don't listen to me.
10. Nothing. I prefer minimal amount of distinctive features. So far it looks good, as for me.
And yeah we do have a similar taste then when it comes to characters. Designs are just fun if the actual body isn't really anything out of the ordinary. Like i get why people might want to go a bit crazy and add green fur or what have you, but i just really like the simplicity of "he's just a painted dog" or "she's just a lioness".
Not too long. Sometime last year, when someone shared your art in a discord server.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
First pic I saw was called 'Dust to Dust' which is the reason i started following you.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Well, I went back through your gallery, and I'm torn between 'Dust to Dust' or 'Unabated Anger' as my favorite.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Not really.
Again, not really.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
I... don't know if it could be considered an artistic journey, as I write stories, but can't draw. That being said, some of the artwork has inspired changes in character design.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
lol Nope!
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Uhhh.... maybe?
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
A few personal preference choices that don't really matter that much. Art-wise, no, there's nothing I dislike about it.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
I refuse. Your sona should be what makes you happy, not what makes everyone else happy.
2) I THINK it was this one so guess it was two years ago I found you?
3) sounds like a copout but they're all pretty damn amazing, hard to decide
4) as yet, no, but there's always the future :D
5) Does considering you to draw cover-art for a future book qualify? (like I'm writing, but might need cover artists, and going back through your gallery, you definitely got the goods)
6) can't say it has because I'm not that sort of artist
7) can't say it has XD
8) I'm a yeen-fan, myself
9) I really REALLY like the painterly style used in your art, the detail contained is phenominal, but... I'm also a sucker for more solidly defined lines and details, rather than the nebulous, almost random nature of brushes.
10) Personality or physical characteristics? showing something as simple as grooming habits or leisure activities would be interesting (at least to me) in expanding their story/background/world
I can imagine. Should schedule/allot a span of time for personal stuff during each cycle, that way you can get more personal stuff out there and you don't feel bogged down by demands
Like i enjoy doing commissions, trying to solve the problems someone throws my way is super fun, but yeah, having some time to just do whatever would certainly be appreciated.
I think I started following you only recently, I don't know when.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
It was that one pic you did for Thetawavez.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
I don't really have any, I just like your art in general.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
I don't really know your OC much but I do tend to prefer scalies or birds. Sorry.
I haven't browsed your art much. I'm not much of an art browser, more so of an art looker.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Not really an artist anymore.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Never painted.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Yes.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
I don't really dislike any particular thing when it comes to art styles unless it's extremely bad taste. Your art style is awesome, keep at it. It's what Nomax does. It's the Nomax style.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Make Nomax the way you want it. You don't have to listen to us.
1. Ohh.. can't say for sure, maybe from 2018?..
2. Again, I don’t remember exactly, but either this (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29413576/) or this (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24639778/)
3. There are so many.. Along with those that I saw for the first time, I would like to note these:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26398213/ (From this work I catch wild frustration, but at the same time it shakes to the depths of my soul.)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29004433/ (This work exudes mystery and adventure. It wants to tell me a story, the continuation of which I am not destined to know.)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23870540/ (It's just that rare to see an anthro-mammoth. His gaze and gait are awe-inspiring.)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21819200/ (My memory tells me that this is the first artwork of yours I saw.. but I could be wrong. In any case, I am very impressed with the scale and atmosphere of the work.)
4. Honestly.. no.
5. I don't really have much time for all this, but your work is clearly deeper than it seems.
6. DEFINITELY. You are one of my main inspirations.
7. No, I have been drawing all my life, but I am in constant search of mental mentors, which you, perhaps without knowing it, are.
8. Too difficult choice. But probably Painted Dogs after all.
9. The background too blurry in some places?......... I understand that this is most likely to create an emphasis on something specific, but sometimes I personally do not have enough detailing. This is bad criticism, rather just a personal opinion. DO NOT LISTEN TO ME!!
10. Everything is... okay? Of course, if you really want to change something, then you can change, but you need to do it as you feel, and not ask others, as it seems to me ^^
It was a pleasure to answer your questions, I hope it helps you with something.
And thank you very much for your work!! Without you, the furry fandom wouldn't be complete.
Be safe.
And i'm happy to hear that i had such an influence! Seems to work too because your stuff is lovely! You certainly are on a solid track!
And yeah, blurriness is part due to the economics of commissions. Essentially the alternative to many of these blurred background pieces would be just no background at all. So that just ended up being a good compromise between still suggesting proper surroundings while offering a cheaper option than a full and proper painting.
2. i think it was "The Wanderer". The one that made me hit that follow button was "Revelation"
3. Difficult to choose one.. going over it I guess "Studying mage"
4. Nope.
5. Probably, but nothing shocking of note. I tend to do many things at once and everything influences everything else, so at the very least subconsciously, for sure.
6. Not really.
7. Nope, I've done art for a very very long time.
8. No, that blame goes to Rukis ... although (were)wolves has been a much older theme of mine I didn't really do dogs or painted dogs until her work left an imprint.
9. To be brutally honest, I don't like the way you changed from your detail/matte style to the much courser oil painting style. I'm a stickler for high detail work.
10. I have no suggestions -- he's your character and pretty well crystallized.
and on #9 that's fine of course. You've been following for quite a while, it's bound to happen that things change and it's not always a change that works for everyone. Thank you for sticking around though! Maybe things will move further in that direction again in the future or perhaps something else really captures your attention :D
1. How long have you been following or been aware of my artwork?
- Mid 2018, I came upon you by complete chance when I was going through the favorites of someone I don't remember^^
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
- It's normally the first favourite, so it was this one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27813876/
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
- Always been this one, the details in it blew me away so quickly it's burned into my memory: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30006606/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
- Despite the first picture I saw, no, your SFW works catches my eye the most.
- It gave me a craving to visit the galleries in the cities near me.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
- My artistic journey started with writing, so not quite. Drawing/painting wise, I need practice ^^
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
- Wanted to draw digitally for a while, wanted to start painting in HS but made a wrong choice and got pulled away from it - not a good qualification they said.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
- Painted dogs are my choice, but I like hyena's too though.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
- Shyness aside, you're skill is so astronomical I don't think I can find a fault in it from my artistic standpoint - nothing really bothers me either.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
- Making a suggestion to change your design would be like suggesting someone to dye their hair a different colour, I won't do it. I like Nomax, that and it's your choice if you want to change anything. ^^
As for #5, oh god do (once things normalize), galleries can be so fun especially if they overlap with your tastes in art. I'm still so goddamn bummed that i missed a large Claude Monet exhibition here because covids started right around that time! Oh well...
as for #7, yeah i would agree. It's always hard to really recommend someone to go into art. It can be rough, really rough, so honestly best choice is to get something solid, and if that desire is still there then try to build up some side income via art on the side.
1. How long have you been following or been aware of my artwork?
Phew, I'd say around 3-4 years?
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I have no clue which one I saw first (could be the icon for Aneurism or an artwork before) but I remember particulary this one making me following you! :)
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Apart from the one I've linked above... This one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37135530/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Naw, sorry bud! Maybe because I didn't seen enough smut of him tho *thinking emoji*
Hm, nothing I am aware of! I sure had moments where I analyzed the painting for a lil bit longer
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Yes! You're totally one of my inspirations and I'm just astrounded by your brush strokes and ability to portray and convey a believable scene.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
I think my despise for clean lineart made me start painting lol. But as I mentioned above - you're one of my biggest inspiration when it comes to furry art!
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Is this a trick question? (AWDs!)
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
Nothing I could think of!
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Honestly he's already well-recognizable with his design and characteristics! He's good as he is
And aww, you are too kind, always awesome to hear that now i'm in a position of being that inspiration knowing the reverse of that just too well. :D
And yes, #8 is mostly funning around :D
Hmm... I think about five years now?
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
This was the first piece I saw of yours, though this was when I started to follow you.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
This one. God, I remember that summer, I melted DX I think I was the exact same.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Yup! Let's just say while I'm sure Tuuwa's good Nomax's those ears, Nomax is good with his hands... =p
Yup! Nomax is partially what inspired making Zain in my writing (and some NSFW art as well), as well as digging into painted dog conservation myself.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Yeah, it's been inspiring me in regards to cultural outfits of the time period. Even beyond my usual being a history nerd.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Not paint, but write. It is usually one of the pieces I refer to for inspirations.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Painted dogs, by a mile! I know you like those ears, but I find those white socks amusing XD
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
That I'm not in it! I kid of course, I can't think of much I would change. Your style is unique, and that's what I love most about it. And one day when I have some spare money, I'll rectify that joke problem =p
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Cravats! For some reason, I can see him wearing one... =|a
And Zain looks lovely! Always a treat to inspire more painted dogs to be around!
Then we can use their rad-ears to set up an early warning network! =V
Around 5 years
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I think 'Trespass'. I'm not totally sure on that.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Gosh, I dunno if I could pin it down to just one! I think SFW I'd say Polar Expedition, with Cyber Squalor being a close 2nd. NSFW, probably Prep (I love stuff that feels sketchy, and also stuff that is more suggestive / less explicit, so it pushes lots of buttons). Rest On My Rock and Medieval Methods are pretty high up there, too. :)
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
I meeeean...the answer to question 3 is right there... >.>
I think Cyber Squalor sparked up my interest in that kind of sci-fi in a way I didn't have as much, before. I can't think of any specific cause-effect action, though.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Yes, but in ways that would be difficult to put to words.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
I wish! Alas, I am too terrible at visual art to keep working at it for long any time I give it a try, hehe.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Doggos! It's a close call, though.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
This could just be me - or may even be intentional! - but sometimes they can be just a little too dark, with lots of similar, dark colors layered next to each other and in shadow, so it's easy to miss details unless I really look close.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
I don't think I could suggest any changes to somebody else's character, especially a design I already like!
Thinking about it did make me think it'd be interesting to see something like one of your Nomax portraits (like your avatar or the realism one), but with a little bit of grey on the chin or nose and other subtle signs of aging, like the art you see where there's a pair of portraits kept together (usually for like leaders or royalty), one when they were young and another in their later years.
And yes, there absolutely are plans for just different times in Nomax' life to be painted. We'll get there at some point i'm sure! :D
At least 6 years now.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I'm pretty sure it was https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13120343/
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
This one came to mind https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13460212/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Yes. Both renditions actually, but I still like Nomax the dragon the best.
5. Has any of my art ever caused action beyond just looking at- and faving it?
Not really. I certainly appreciate the beauty of painted dogs a little more though :)
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
I'm not much of an artist. I've always been interested in taking it up though, and your art certainly is inspiring!
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Maybe one day.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Painted dogs
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
For me there's nothing really to dislike. I would certainly enjoy seeing a lot more avians and reptiles though.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
I would enjoy seeing your old dragon again. Perhaps with a different name?
And happy that even with the dragon dropped that the new sona provided some fun times as well . The cleanup picture also was super fun, it's still a theme i quite enjoy nowadays.
2. Deference ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/18614810/ ) - I think... I believe I followed you for Exhibition ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13053396/ ).
3. I think Deference ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/18614810/ ) again.
4. No.
5. Maybe. I think I dug into your art as the result, rather than the impetus, of an interest.
6. A little. I'm not an artist, but your material-lighting interplay left an impression.
7. Maybe being asked will be what finally gets me started. Who knows...
8. Dragons.
9. While I've found something unique to appreciate in some of your more painterly work, it isn't normally my thing. :)
10. ... I don't feel qualified for this. The very canid design of the jaw makes the sharp turn of the throat seem odd, you might allow it to sag more or forshorten the jawbone to avoid this?
2. I think it was when your old form with a red beard was drinking from a lake
3. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24646367/
4. I have three images that prove this.
5. I have not. I'm sorry. =(
6. In a certain journey. Not quite...artistic....
7. NO DATA AVAILABLE
8. Why not both?
9. I cannot think of anything really.
10. More Doner Pizzas. You know what I mean. =3
2 – Can’t recall either
3 – could say “dust to dust”
4 – Who? Huh?
5 – Probably I stored some of your images to my hdd (I save every image I like, who knows when x artist would decide to erase everything from their accounts)
6 – Not sure
7 – no, I can’t draw
8 – Hyenas
9 – Nothing in particular. I almost never critique anything. I just accept what x artist offers and if I don’t like something I just don’t watch it
10 – Who?
And honestly they're not really anything super special, i do more and more with just the round brush nowadays.
2. First I saw was the zero-g cheeta I believe. (Which reminds me, I forgot to fav XD)
3. I'd say my favorite is the pic of the spider. Just an awesome picture!
4. Have not yet had any sexual fantasies of Nomax. Though that doesn't mean they arn't cool. I just don't really do that about anyone cx
5. Not particularly, considering how recent I found your art. That, and I feel I already know a bit about a lot of animals cuz I've already looked into a bunch of 'em out of curiosity.
6. I'd like to think so! I love to have art that I admire be a source of reference for art I try to make.
7. I've tried to paint before. Might try doing it again one day, but I don't think I'm much of a painter
8. I'm more partial to hyenas, personally.
9. Ummm... can't think of anything in particular that I dislike about your style. I think you do an awesome job. Great shapes, nice lighting, good colors. Hard to think of anything I dislike.
10. Hard to tell someone else what to do with their own character. cx
Maybe give him a tattoo of something you find important. He looks like someone who would like a tattoo. c:
It's been some years. The earliest email I can find comes from 2016.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
As far as I can remember, it was either Trespass, with Smokepaw, or Parting Gifts, of Nomax and Utunu. Whichever was first, I immediately decided to watch.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
I'm going to exclude my own commissions. In no particular order: the aforementioned Trespass, Noble2's Cheef, Setting Sail, and At the Heart of the Mountain. More so than any other reason, these pictures all make me think of the story of what's happening in them.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
No, never. It would never even occur to me to think of Nomax that way. <///<
5. Has any of my art ever caused action beyond just looking at- and faving it?
Refer to question 6.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey?
No one specific artist made me want to pursue art as a hobby, but yours, among many other wonderful furry artists, did push me in that direction. When I look at your art, you make it look so simple but when I try to copy a thing I've seen from you, I realize how naive I really am as an aspiring artist.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Refer to question 6.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
All-wheel dogs, obviously.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
The absolute dearth of outlines! How do you expect people to trace--... I meeeeeean "reference" your art? >.>
If I actually had to choose something... hmm. I guess the way you draw sheaths is slightly more saggy than I would prefer. But clearly that hasn't stopped me from commissioning you to draw sheaths over and over and over. So if my biggest dislike doesn't actually cause me to avoid that thing, it's not much of a dislike. XD
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
More instances of pizza on face!
How did I do? Do I win the questionnaire contest?
And yeah, that's always the problem isn't it? Someone makes things look easy and then you pick it up and feel like a toddler chewing on crayons...
Gosh I can't remember, but I do remember one of the reasons why I've been keen on commissioning you, that being this piece https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32633820/
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I suppose I answered this one with the previous question, oops!
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
I won't be biased and say my piece, in fact I don't think it's my fave out of all your other works. This one though, I quite like, if only because I find it's a great scene. That, and I'm a sucker for panoramic views
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34410279/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Yes ;3c
Yes actually, your Daguerreotype deathbed portrait kinda made me want to reach out to you and maybe talk about art history, but I was a little shy and frankly I can't imagine I'm the only one popping into your DMs.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
I think you're a liiiiittle too good for me to consider aspiring my chicken scratch to become.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Sure, if you count mediocre finger painting.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
You're asking me to pick between apples and oranges. They're both great in their own way. Which is why I have both as character of mine.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
I have absolutely none! I tried, I even looked through your gallery (mainly your recent, to pick apart your more current skill) but frankly I have none.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Bigger ears :v
And oh, the border one! Think it's the first time i saw that one mentioned. It's actually super fascinating, of course there are plenty of people where their favourite is among the more obvious pictures that simply did really well at the time, but even the ones that didn't have such an impact do get mentioned here and there! So it's nice to see that they're appreciated as well!
As for being too shy to message, the amount of messages is fine actually. If it's a message with one specific topic then it's generally no problem. When it's just some random chit-chat then i tend to have trouble with it as there just isn't a clear goal to the communication if that makes sense. Like, i can't have endless idle talk with everyone. :')
And yes to #4, success!
I think I like that one cuz it's a proper scene. There's something going on and it has a story behind it. Without animating, you could imagine the actions of the individuals in the picture. It's neat.
uwu I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide I'm not shy enough to poke and disturb people then.
1-4
It's been since 2016 (or so my FA faves say) since I've been aware of you, I'm not sure if I've immediately followed when I first notice you or not, but I'll assume I did... first art I remember from you and absolutely adored the [url=https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13...../Cleanup[/url] picture and I did have some sexual fantasies with raptor Nomax 👀... but not painted dog Nomax unfortunately x.x
5-7
Does fapping count? :3 Aside from that your art has inspired me and made me excited to try and improve... although I haven't done any art studies of your stuff yet... or anything lately x.x. I have thought about trying to replicate some beautiful environment work in a 3D art medium (Blender) though... especially the lighting... I really love the lighting & environments in Lost City and Hunt and Snare Cover. Sadly though I've giving up on painting... I just love doing 3D work more x.x
8
Painted... Hyena? :3
9
Your artstyle is great... I can't think of anything negative to say... I mean if you really want something then only thing I'd complain about is subject matter... wish you drew more feral creatures than anthros... but your artstyle and skill is so good that I put away my pickyness...
10
Feral Nomax when? o.o
And hah, i did actually think about a feral version at some point. I mean it would probably just be a one-off picture for funsies rather than actually a more involved character, but it could be fun. Just problem would be that part of his design is that he just looks pretty normal and indistinct, so without any clothing it would just be a random painted dog i guess.
3. picking a favorite is being cruel to the others, i can however say that this one has such a pleasing lighting, and that one drew a smile on my face.
4. beside finding Nomax attractive, my fantacies are... not much sexually driven.
5. i've expresed myself over things many times, and too often got rejected for it...
6-7. i probably could learn a bit from it, but i lack any motivation to create something... i'll abstain from rambling, previous question got me in a bad mental state.
8. painted dogs? hyenas? depends what for, as it's said "the right tool for the right job"
Nine. what i dislike the most about your art? the only answer that comes to mind belongs to a different question: what do i dislike the most about you...
10. my one suggestion to the character design of Nomax is: keep it your own. if you let others influence it, don't forget your the one to make the choices. (i do like the pony tail)
is there a singular reason to oppose such a refined yet simple hairstyle?
2. What was the first picture you saw ... Nomax Realism Portrait
3. What is your favourite picture of mine? This is hard. Excluding my commission, I would narrow it down to Nomax Realism Portrait, At the Fireplace, Hunt and Snare Cover, Setting Sail. Having to choose one, I will pick Setting Sail.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji* >.>
5. Has any of my art ever caused action .... no, not that I can remember
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.) I've pretty much given up art except for needed technical drawings. I see all the flaws of my drawings at once.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?! No, see above.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas? I might want another commission so I will have to go with Painted dogs
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.) Not being shy, but I cannot think of anything in terms of style. In terms of content, it might be nice if you had the occasional picture suggesting Nomax might be gay...okay, I'll have to admit you have a few...so let me modify that and say, if you had more gay Nomax art
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax. I am afraid I cannot think of anything, but I would be amused to see a portrait of Nomax with a blep
Setting sail is a good pick though, still really like it as well and yes, saved yourself there with answer #8.
2. O_O I don't know. I remember this peice: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/17692907/
3. I would not even know where to begin. But this one is the one the sticks with me the most: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26398213/
4. No.
5. Oh, yeah, that ant one. I looked that up. And your selfportrait in the style of a gariotype (sp?) and also just looking up "painted dog".
6. It's been inspirational, but I have not used it as a visual or concept reference. I don't have the same brush materials you use and I am not "there" yet.
7. See above.
8. Both? Both!
9. You're too damned good. TT___TT (Don't stop! Never stop!)
10. I am not going to do your job for you. It's your character, a reflection of a person I don't even know.
A couple of years, perhaps.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I've forgotten. I followed a link to your FA page from a work that Scale did featuring one of your painted dog characters. When I looked over your gallery, I saw nothing but picture after picture of exceedingly high-quality art.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
This:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/17085922/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
No, except in the context of this picture, I could go gay for Nomax.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30879154/
No, although at some point I'd like to commission a piece from you... I just have no idea what I would want it to be.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Absolutely. I'm inexperienced in digital art, and your work gives me insights.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
No. However, your work has really gotten me to look at Photoshop in a much more serious way. I've been into traditional media for years and dabbled into a number of different media. Strangely enough, I found myself returning to where I started - pencils and charcoals.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
I once lived in rural Southern Africa and have seen both there. The dogs not so much as canine distemper hit them hard in years past. Hyenas on the other hand - everywhere! There were several enormous hyena dens in various states of abandonment in the area I lived, some collapsed and nearly filled in, and others recently used. Hyenas will use a den site for a while and then leave it and move to or dig another.
Hardly a night passed that I did not hear hyenas. The sound of distant hyenas (not to mention hadada Ibises, gray-headed bushshrikes, and emerald-spotted wood doves) is one that says that I have returned home.
I could see my fursona as some sort of hyena, perhaps in the form of a traditional healer, or sangoma as they are often referred to in Southern Africa.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
I will say nothing as art is so damned subjective.
However... what follows is from my narrow prejudices, and will take you on a journey of my psychological hang-ups when looking at any sort of zoological related art.
I have been involved in the zoological field in one form or another for nearly thirty years. In many respects, this has ruined art for me as I incessantly try to reconcile what I see in the art with my academic training and career experience, and has caused me to throw out more of my art than I can remember.
An example is with how heads in anthropomorphic art are portrayed. The common method artists employ is to lop the head off a given animal and place it on a human-looking torso. I've seen precious few artists who try to fit a human-sized brain into that skull. I see why artists don't do this. I have, and I found that it "pushes" the ears off the top of the head and to the sides. It's a strange look and one I find hard to get right.
Another example is bipedal mammals with penis sheathes still attached to the body. I can only imagine the difficulties of relieving oneself while standing upright with that sort of anatomical feature.
I could go on...
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
None - Nomax is a glorious character.
Although, I'd love to see Nomax rendered in traditional art media.
And yeah, i totally get ya on the adjustments of animal features to a human body. It's just a tight line to walk between which features you think look cool and which make sense or don't. It's essentially just a sliding scale everyone kinda has to find their place on.
As for traditional art of Nomax, there are actually two pencil drawings, they're rather old by now but here : https://www.furaffinity.net/view/20019492/ and here : https://www.furaffinity.net/view/19725587/
There technically are some watercolour paintings on patreon as well, but those will just never make it to the public beyond that. That was just my safe-space to futz around with watercolour for a while, so chucking them out in the world would ruin that.
1. I've been following your work since 2017, (I made a new profile on FA for name changing reasons. shortly after that FA allowed us to change our display name lmao the timing)
2. I remember the first artwork I've seen of yours being "A Lesson in Philosophy" in the recent submissions of FA's homepage. It piqued my interest and after going through your gallery of what you had at the time I realized I need to follow your work.
The three images that made me definitely follow your work was:
A; Yogoloth Statue
B; The Hoop Dance
C; Friend of the Bweha
3. Now that's a loaded question, it's hard to narrow it down to just one! There are so many I'd choose and just hang on the wall.
4. I mean... maybe a little uwu
5. A couple of times where I read up on some of the species and how they're doing. But definitely not spiders.
6. You and your work inspired me to start pushing my boundaries here and there on a couple of pieces where I've been given artistic freedom and the commissioner doesn't mind me experimenting with their piece.
7. Actually the reason I started digital paint is that I couldn't afford a place to do my charcoal paintings, and they were too large in-person nobody could afford them or put them anywhere >~>
8. Painted dogs for the win uwu
9. The fact that I haven't commissioned you yet ùwú (Soon though, wanna fix my pc and get an animation and music home-studio up and running first 👀)
10. In my honest opinion, Nomax's design is iconic that it's easily recognizable, if you wanna change anything, nobody would stop you from doing so.
Thanks for the little questionnaire! It was pretty neat :3
Also woooo, maned wolf! Ah they're just great so it's wonderful to see more maned wolf characters! He looks fantastic!
2.) I dont remember if I am being honest... sorry
3.) It is either Stille vor dem Sturm https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24543891/ or Morningdew https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39992584/
4.) Nope, sorry. I mean he could have been but those slots are kinda taken now x3
5.) Does pin you for possible commission count? Besides that, no.
6.) Yes and no. I love looking at your style and appreciate it and even tried experimenting my own. I realized that I can't really do your style but it was enlightening.
7.) hehehe, sorry it wasn't x3
8.) Neither! x3
9.) Its aggravatingly both too much detail and not enough at the same time and looks too good x3
I will say I do prefer the cleaner older art compared to some of the "messier" art.... I dont know how to describe it x3
10.) uhhh... erm... hmmmm.... He come give Merlin a hug x3
2. I think this one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/16552387/
Or it might have been this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/16552387/ , I might have found you through Onyxcenturion.
3. Impossible to pick one! :3
4. ...yes
5. Oh yeah, like this pic https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27079567/ made me look up the artist you mention. In fact, I just looked again!
6. If I were on an artistic journey I feel it would XD It was an eye-opener for me to see how much you could convey with impressionistic brush work.
7. Nope!
8. Two great tastes that taste great together :9
9. There's really nothing!
10. Ears three times larger :P
(ask a silly question...!)
2) I dont remember, but the quality of the art is what made me follow you. I am pretty sure it was NOT a NSFW piece
3) I cant even begin to think of a favorite, but nearly anything that features your painted dog.
4) Yep
5) No
6) It has become a standard by which I judge other furry art
7) I have not started to paint, but I probably will in the next couple of years. I will be retiring.
8) Well, um... I do kind of have this thing about hyenas
9) I dont think there is much I dislike. Your art is pretty incredible, and other than the fact that you get (and it is no more than you deserve) a large amount of money for a work, I would gladly commission you.
10) You want me to alter perfection????
And retiring? Yeah then that's prime time to dabble with some art! Just hop out into nature with a sketchbook or something and have a relaxing evening sketching whatever looks fun! :D
2. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/11220863/ And yes, though it was more of a "soft" follow as I don't think I started watching proper until 2015.
3. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27491401/ :V Other than that, I don't I think I can really can point out a particular favorite, they're all so good. But I will say that this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40769488/ catches my eye as of late.
4. A few times, yes~
5. The weirdest one would have to be treatments for seasickness from 1400-1800 CE
6. I've unconsciously emulated your brushing style in a few oil paintings (that I unfortunately don't have with me at the moment).
7. Nope, but that was the culmination of this whole site.
8. Painted Dogs.
9. For me at least, sometimes the colors can run together a bit too much.
10. None that I can think of at the moment~
Also just opened your page and god that user profile picture is great, but yeah your character is one of the cooler ones i got to draw! Just the sleek style and everything is right up my alley, so certainly flattered that they potentially had some fun in fantasy land. :D
And thank you~
2 The collab you did with Caraid I guess? https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23870540/
3 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26628907/ This one. The character is really cool and the picture is rather dymanic.
4 Yeah, I wanna top him uwu
5 I've been studying your design and composition uwu
6 Yeah, your art has been helpful to me, I'm very grateful.
7 No, but I learnt from you a lot.
8 Painted dogs!
9 Nothing, I love everything of your art.
10 Can't think of any change to him lol, just keep the appearance I guess.
2. Memory is fuzzy at this point, but I believe it was this gryphon fellow here.
3. It's very hard to choose, but "Polar Expedition" and "Bedouin" are definitely up there.
4. No. :)
5. Nothing earth shattering, but I do often look very closely at the details in your work because the pieces are very eye catching and immersive. And while I've not been very active on this site for a while, I do try to comment on things to offer some insight into why I faved them!
6. It has! See #5. I feel like I can learn a lot just by looking at your work.
7. No, I painted (traditionally) before I found you, but your work is truly inspiring. I feel like you are an artist I wish to be like.
8. I'd have to go with a painted dog.
9. I'm really not sure I can name anything! It's not to say that I think your work is all beyond reproach, but perhaps I would be able to name specific things in an individual piece rather than a generality.
10. Hmm. I'm not sure I can offer much on this one.
You're great. :)
2. Honestly, couldn't say
3. Probably 'Polar Expedition'
4. While I can't say yes, I also can't confidently say otherwise
5. Can't really say so
6. It's sparked a few ideas
7. My artistic skill is.. unmentionable
8. Painted Dogs
9. Your style hits on all of my high points and preferences, I'm afraid I can't add more here
10. To me a character is an extension of the creator, and their own wants and needs shape the design. That said, I wouldn't walk up to a person and say 'you should change yourself'. That said, if you want critiques I'd say that you should work on displaying his full anatomy more often, more never hurts.
2. hard to say, I didn't originally find you on FA. I remember stumbling across your gallery on another site and seeing it full of tribal anthro characters. I think it was this one - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/18031373/
3. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29688074/
4. Not anything explicit, some of his pieces with a certain cheetah have been quite arousing though. Closest I've come is wondering how different parts of him might feel or smell depending on the piece.
5. Your pieces often tell a story within themselves & their composition, I don't often need supplementary material to complete the experience.
6. Sadly my left side of my brain continues to dominate both the right side of my brain and my life. Any art schooling is many years behind me. One of the commissions you made that I have hanging on my wall is a constant reminder that one of my characters has an entire story in my head that's waiting to be told. I fear it may die with me some day.
7. I'm more adept with ink than paint.
8. I like both dogs & cats.
9. While I completely understand the decision since you make a living from your art, I was a bit sad when Caraid taught you to the trick to find ways to put your backgrounds out of focus or obscured to reduce their time commitment. While I've always loved your attention to detail on characters it was your elaborate environments & backgrounds in your earlier works that really blew me away.
10. Explore his flaws & character vices more. It will help viewers identify more intimately with him.
And yeah, the background are mostly of economical nature. I mean the full background still exist after all, it's just that their time committment means it's just not viable for many to afford them. So the simple painting option with either a very simple or blurred background is what i found the best compromise there. I mean the other alternative would be to just have the character on a flat background and so i feel the blurred one certainly add something more to that.
About 2-3 years.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26398213/
In fact it was the same one. Something in this picture touches me somewhere deep inside... It had a huge emotional impact on me.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Guess xD
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Nope
Not really. But I try to enjoy every detail in your paintings, if that does count as "more as looking at"
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Sadly not. I'm a photographer and musician.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Nope. There are dogs out there more talented in painting than me.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
In that order ^^
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
To be honest: the time to wait to the next one. Your style just triggers every button within me.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Remove the glasses.
About 6 years now.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
Green , blue, orange with a bit of dark red was the first I saw, but Heavanly Light is what sold me.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Maayybe this one? But here are some of my other faves I narrowed it down to:
Nomax Portrait | Nomax Realism Portrait | Zero-G | Ю
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Nah, I don't usually think of characters like that.
It has certainly made me want to, but I have to be really careful with my money.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Honestly, I'd love to study your pieces that use such natural outdoor lighting. I just can't find time to do studies. You're certainly one of the painters I remember by name because of your distinctive work, though.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
--
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Cruel! But I do think painted dogs are gorgeous.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
I don't dislike anything about it! I do love how some of your newer stuff has smaller, less wild strokes making up the fur.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
Nomax is heckin' handsome with a ponytail and gold glasses. And the fancy suits are always a win.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?) - my current bf and back then friend used to make furry art comps, and I saw one from you. Lots of grat art, great sona (I always feel happy seeing other AWDs), basically a no-brainer once I had an FA account.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine? - It's hard to pick. This one was included in the comp I originally saw, and the unique perspective and cool shot really made it stand out for me: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26227758/
Aside from that I really like your full body shots, NSFW or not, and naval themed pieces (I'm a bit of a sailing nerd)
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji* - Lewd. But no, I try not to think like that of other people's characters.
- I guess in a way, some of them inspired my current D&D character. Though that's also because of my interests, like I mentioned in the previous one.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.) - Sadly, I suck at anything related to drawing or painting. I do try to write though, and I enjoy taking inspiration from the work of more talented people than me, lol.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?! - I wish :(
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas? - Take a wild guess!
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.) - I've only noticed it sometimes, but when drawing hair on anthros, some styles come out looking very out of place... I'm not sure if that's the fault of the artist, or that particular hairstyles just don't work in anything other than a cartoony setting.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax. - I like the casual, everyday life style pieces, again, NSFW or not. Not really a character design thing, but it certainly helps with character design - we get to see him and the world he lives in from his perspective, and that just conveys so much information in a simple, yet pretty way.
And oh yes that bioshock picture, ah i was so happy with that idea of looking through the glass and seeing the bubbles rise and everything! Glad to see it mentioned here!
Also your character got my approval, not just because of the obvious but especially in your ref he's just got such a fantastic style to him!
Yeah, it came out great. Double glad you like it too, coming up with something uniquely cool and then having it work out is always rewarding, heh.
And thank you! Though the ref is being slightly updated, mostly to fit him into the fantasy/pirate role he takes up nowadays.
1. About 18 months now, possibly a little longer, not 100% sure.
2. "Spots spotting spots" was the first of yours I remember got me looking at your work, I lurv the.... cats! But I think it was "Guarding the village" that got your teeth into me!
3. Right now it's "Brothers". It's simply stunning art and I love everything about it. It's definitely working its way to the top of my all-time fave list!
4. Hehe... ;)
5. Your art has definitely heightened my appreciation for painted dogs and quality art in general... you set a very high bar, tbh. Being a feral, I guess I can also blame you for my heightened anthro appreciation. ;P I'd like to be able to claim something more profound, but sadly I don't think I'm a better person for it, so far.
6. ^^ I have no skill. But the variety and quality of your work does inspire my ideas in stories and RP, for which I'm very grateful!
7. ^^ Sadly, no. :(
8. Both! But Painted Dogs first... hyenas need to wait their turn! ;D
9. Your art is too beautiful for the like of me to disrespect! But the lack of ferals saddens me. I'd love to be able to commish a feral piece from you!
10. Aww.... he's pretty much the perfect woof! Maybe he could smile a bit more. I'd love to see those pearly whites along with a glint in his eye, once in a while. ;)
Thanks for asking. <3
hah and no worries about it being nothing profound with #5, i didn't exactly expect many people to do more than just look at art. It's what i do for most of the art and artists i come across, so i can't exactly expect others to be much different there. :D
And yeah, i'm just not very good at quadrupeds, especially nowadays. It's just not where i put my focus on, so they kinda slipped down the quality ladder over time. I mean i could probably do more, but it's just not quite the area i excell in.
2. It may have been this piece: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/19688631/ but I would have to sort through thousands of faves to be sure XD
3. This is the hardest question yet. I like this character specifically so, maybe this one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23757441/
4. Hell yeah! As a fellow bisexual I'd switch/verse for them and do anything they felt like doing :3
5. I wish I could say yes, however even in browsing your gallery the picture of the cheetah woman who was killed and the detective book cover you did (I'm just not into detective novels/am having a lot of trouble reading these days, all I do is write!)
6. Yes. I study your art in great detail when the spirit is there. It is a big help!!
7. No, but I'm sure it was for many people!
8. That's so hard to say they're both adorable XD
9. Your art is so realistic it's almost too realistic. Part (most) of the fun of the furry Fandom is that it plays on fantasy on worlds without the same pain as we experience here on earth as humans. Personally I would like to see expressions that mimick a warmth, a love, a passion, of living in a world where the characters acknowledge they have teeth but refuse to use them to herm one another and live peaceably (like dogs and cats live with us but are our friends). I am not sure what that looks like, but perhaps adding an element of impossible fantasy to their faces, a little less hardness, if that makes sense.
10. I think they need to lighten up. I would love to see them living in the moment, in some fantastic field, their hands out, enjoying and feeling the sun on their arms, eyes closed, smiling, releasing the stress and tension of their day and reconnecting with nature. More pictures of them smiling!
R: If I can remember it’s been 6 years, which I notice your work.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (And if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
R: To be honest, I don’t remember. ^///^
3. What is your favorite picture of mine?
R: I can’t say, all of your works have a uniqueness & some have become my Desktop at work &
At home. XP
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
R: Not at all & he is kind of cute & good looking. XP
R: Sorry, No.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
R: No, but it has let me to see things in different points of view.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
R: No.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
R: No.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? (No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
R: No, I don't dislike your work, You have a uniqueness style of painting, perspective & the combinations of colors.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
R: It is not up to me who has to decide to make changes on you, one must evolve in his own way & time, just keep on being you.
P.S. Thank you for the opportunity to add my 3 Cent's, I hope my reply's would be helpful for you.
"Fist paw on heart & bows"
Now I was assuming your art was all digital--it seems it would make it easier to modify.
My sister was shocked that the piece you drew for me wasn't an actual painting.
1. I would say I've been following your art for maybe 5 years? Nearly 6. I remember finding you around my senior year of high school and now I'm almost through with college so that's about 5 years.
2. I think the first picture of yours I ever saw was the one called "Cheef". The quality of it with the lighting and the coloring and how I can just imagine the feeling of the clothes and the fur and the heat of other. It's so nice. It was my phone screensaver for a long time lol.
3. My favorite picture of all though has to be "Gathering". It kinda inspired me to make my own fantasy series because I love just the coloring, the clothing, the fur designs, the flow of the scene, literally all of it is so freaking pretty. I was so tempted to go with "Iuppiter in caelis, Caesar regit omnia terris" the piece you made of a Rat as Jupiter. I seriously almost went with it cause its so good! All of your art is such a 10/10 and It's amazing. I am almost a big fan of Greek and Roman mythology so seeing you make this was really awesome.
4. Have you seen Nomax? He's cute af! Of course he has!
5. As I said before, your work kinda inspired me to make my own fantasy stories. I wanted to achieve the same vibe you get with all your art. This beautiful and amazingly detailed world. Your works just look like they all have a history to them.
6. Lol I refer you to the previous point. I am working on a fantasy series of my own. I still have a long way to go to make it... well, better. But I'm trying! I'm doing my best.
7. Lol I cannot paint. I have no visual art skills as much as I wish I did. Anyone who can draw seriously has my respect.
8. Hyenas for me!
9. I don't want to be rude... but sometimes in the the very bright pieces it can be hard to see the details. But I think you've gotten better with it overtime so feel free to ignore that.
10. He's perfect! I say change nothing. Thanks for asking me questions ha ha
And yes, gosh cheef for some reason ended up as a phone wallpaper for so many people it seems! i mean art aside, it just seemed to be be that perfect blend that ended up working well ass a phone wallpaper :D
and why thank you on #4! I'm glad people enjoy him!
2. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31281839/
3. Same answer as 2
4. Nope
5. Some of your commissions had me interested into the lore of the folks who bought your work
6. Not really, but that's just because my art style is so different
7. I haven't painted in over 20 years...
8. AWD, mainly because I'm trying to draw them lately
9. Nothing really. If there is an issue, I'm not a critic so I never judge
10. I'm fine with however you'd like Nomax to be
2. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/22833842/ This one absolutely did and still does blow my fucking mind. I didn't have it favved somehow but it's saved in 3 different locations on my drive
3. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33608881/ this is in my folder of 40 artworks I look at every morning before work, and I've spent a significant amount of time looking it over
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32633820/ This is also in that folder
4. Nomax hasn't been in my fantasies, not specifically~ but there have been artworks containing him you've done that aroused feelings
5. I've spent a lot of time looking through process steps of your work, and I've met a couple people through your discord that have become clients and friends :> You work is prevalent in my social circles as well and strikes up conversations every so often
6. Absolutely and I'm glad to throw money at you for it
7. Nah, been at it for a while
8. Painted dogs
9. Dislike? That's a hard choice. I think sometimes your soft and lost edges + roughness make a strange combination. but in a lot of images it works out super well? so it's hard for me to say. I've found my tastes around clarity and lost/found edges to be somewhat picky, but I've yet to glean an a set of rules that help me understand it fully
10. No character design is complete without scifi kneepads and a cute lil neck scarf
And i absolutely get ya on the lost edges and stuff, yeah there really should just be a rule that makes it work, but alas! Throwing the dice and hoping for the best it is :'D
I experimented with some lost edges recently!
https://t.me/maneframeart/2664
Should be a little gray preview button if you don't have telegram. havent posted this one up on FA yet
3, My own commissions aside: favorite work many to choose from. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26302691/ or https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29472671/ or https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32633820/ The colors and the atmosphere.. I love them
7. It makes me want to start again.
8. Painted Dog
9. Epic Environmental Work, the settings FIT and are beautiful.
I don't know, two or three years I guess?
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
I honestly don't remember!
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
This is a very tough call. I really don't know which one to choose between the three following ones (note that I mainly like them from a technical standpoint)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31737847/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38124670/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31971277/
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Nope!
I am afraid not, apart from following you on patreon for a bit.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Yes, and thank you so much for sharing your tips and techniques on patreon!
But, as an art student, mainly from a purely technical view point. I know the importance of messages and emotions conveyed by a piece of artwork, but I am still at the technical stage of "how the heck did they do it?!" when looking at someone's artwork I like.
I am sorry about the incoming wall of text. I usually don't post that much and this might be a bit long, but it is one of the main reasons I follow you: after several years working in a field where I'm simply not fulfilled nor happy, I've decided to make the switch to art, for better and worse. I have been taking a few classes for the past 5-6 years, on my free time, and have finally saved up enough money to leave my current job in the next few months: I'm giving myself a few years to really polish my skills and make it professionally.
I supported you on patreon but had to stop due to lack of time: I simply wasn't studying! You have a level of skills that I truly love, not to say envy! ^^" So once I'll have the time I really want to learn some more from your technique.
There are two things that you seem to have mastered and where I clearly struggle: firstly, is your control of values and colors (that is probably what gives your paintings most of that "photorealistic" look). This is specially true in this picture, with the armor: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31971277/
I can not, for the life of me, paint metal or anything that shows so many intricate value and hue shifts, ambient light and reflected light, etc. If I use references, the best I can do is copy the reference, but I won't be able to paint something similar unless I have an exact reference of said thing.
I think I also need to do many studies to get a better grasp of all of this (and "good studies", instead of simply copying without learning).
The second thing I really like is your capacity at keeping your paintings "rough" (maybe even too "rough"!). I'm not sure if I make myself clear: once zoomed in, they are not over detailed, they feel very painterly. You can see the brushstrokes, and most of the details that your mind makes when looking at the painting from far away are actually implied. Reminds me a bit of the work of Marco Bucci or John Singer Sargent.
That is something I would really like to master as well, but I'm struggling. Implying detail in one brushstroke is much harder than spending one hour over detailing a tiny part of a painting, but once you know how to do it, it can be a time saver.
You did go over this in one of your patreon videos I think, simply by showing some of the brush options on photoshop. I don't remember everything, you added a texture, a secondary brush color to have a subtle variation, you played with the spacing of the tip brush, etc. It blew my mind, it never occurred to me to do that. The thing is I am pretty lazy when it comes to toying with photoshop brushes: I don't enjoy going in the options, nor create new brushes on photoshop.
Sorry if this was long, but you're among those artists I want to learn from! I'm slowly starting to figure things out on my own, and learning from other artists and styles: hopefully in the long term I'll be able to take the best of everything and find a style that works for me (or a style will find me!).
Anyway, as soon as I'll have time, I'll recheck your patreon! But, have you considered posting full length tutorials on gumroad? :)
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Nope, I started to draw a bit for fun more than 15 years ago, and seriously 5-6 years ago.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
I don't understand the question... '.'
Do you mean if I painted dogs or hyenas, or if you should paint more dogs or hyenas? I am tempted to answer "paint more hyenas, they look cooler".
Otherwise I painted a few dogs, but no hyenas.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
Other than making me doubt about my own skills? ^^" Just kidding.
Not to sound like a broken record, but to me you've already mastered values, colors, and "detailing through simple brushstrokes" (however you want to call it), resulting in "painterly super-realism", on top of anatomy, composition, etc...
If I were you, I would polish and render a bit more the focal point, so it stands out more compared with the rest of the scene and to give a more "finished" look at your paintings.
I know it might sound like the contrary to what I said previously, but what I mean is that you seem able to take extremely complex paintings to a 90% completion level pretty easily, and when seen from far away they look finished. It's when looking at them up close that we see that they are not detailed, and while that is a style that I like, I would personally detail and polish a bit more the focal point only. I personally think that's what would take your paintings to a 100% completion.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
I'm afraid I really don't know what to suggest!
Starting by trying to paint rough is ....well rough, because you're trying to skip the step of actually knowing what you'd have to put down there.
I'm glad i could help though and hopefully help in the future still! And yes, photoshop brushes can be fun and sometimes setting you feel are super weird actually bring nice results :D
2. Actually the first picture I saw was a Portrait you did for Elvor Xaetri. I decided to follow, because your gallery was filled to the brim with beauty though.
3. That's a tough question. I think I'd have to go with Garden https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30359201/
4. No, but most of those are reserved for other dragons anyway ^^
5. No, not yet. Some of your pictures do make me think of places I have visited in the past and make me look at the pictures I took there though.
6. No, but it does make me want to draw more myself. It also reminds me of the landscapes I think about when I write, so that might inspire me in the future.
7. No, I started doing that back in 2012 and stumbled across your page about 7 years later ^^
8. Hyenas. If I wasn't a dragon, I'd love to be a hyena. *giggles*
9. I actually can't think of anything I dislike about it.
10. I'd maybe add some very slender silver-white lines below his eyes and on the black stripe on his forehead, to make him more recognisable.
2. Again, I'm not entirely sure, the first was probably one featuring Nomax on his own, but I think Dogsitting was the one that made me follow you.
3. I don't think I could pick out an absolute favourite, but being the biased cheetah that I am, anything featuring one of them. I also quite like the sketches that you post, since I do enjoy seeing the artistic process; and how magical it is that the brain manages to see form from just a collection of simple shapes.
4. I can't say he has.
5. I did end up looking more into painted dogs, as Nomax had piqued an interest, and I'm considering trying to paint one at some point.
6. Yes, I have tried to study some of your pieces as inspiration or challenges to try to sketch, not that it ever came to much I'm proud of.
7. I've been trying to paint and draw for a number of years now, so no. But, I think it was your work that finally pushed me to splash out on a set of expensive fluid acrylics that I'm yet to be any good with.
8. I'd say painted dogs.
9. That I'm jealous of your skill and wish I could achieve paintings as good as you.
10. Has he tried a nice waistcoat yet? They can look very nice with a big floofy cravat.
I think Kenket does use them quite a lot, I've been on some of her streams before when she starts with watercolours to get some nice base colours in and then paints some finer bits with acrylics.
2) Polar Expedition (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37135530/), however I found you through BubbleWolf.
3) This is definitely a tough one, since there's a lot that I really enjoy, tell you what, I'll pick three: That Day, Shadowthecoyote portrait and At the Fireplace (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38799174/ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37617725/ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38671238/)
4) *insert flushed emoji* not really, probably because the more risque works are few and far between.
5) Your art in general has made me appreciate much more your general painting style, but it hasn't been taking beyond that.
6) Conceptually, it definitely has influenced me a bit, as all art that I enjoy has.
7) It definitely has made me excited at the idea.
8) If it's you? Hyenas.
9) This is more a critique of the limitations of FA than your art, and it's that with more detailed pieces, when hosted on FA they lose A LOT, otherwise, it's really not my place to judge, specially technicalities, since I'm a 3d artist myself. To me your art seems original and of very high quality (Yes, I know this is a very frustrating answer to a critique request).
10) You always gotta try a monocle (if there is a painting of this, pls gib link omg)
Around 2016s? But I didn't know who actually made the artworks until I knew FA in 2017, when I started knowing outstanding artists.
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?)
"Giving Chase", maybe.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine?
Many, if I have to choose, "Polar Expedition", I really love the style.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji*
Hehe I don't know.
Ja.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.)
Yes, you are actually one of those who made me finally decide to learn drawing.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?!
Actually, it already is.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas?
Whatever.
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.)
Must be some strange characters? I know they are commissions, so, whatever.
You could do more personal art, but I do understand that artists need income.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax.
I don't know…… but I think I could draw a pic of your character one day!
2. What was the first picture you saw of mine? (and if it isn't the same one, which picture made you decide to follow me?) - I think it was this - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26398213/ Was also the art piece that made me follow you.
3. What is your favourite picture of mine? - Would be this one - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35300341/ The stylishness, the black-and-gold mix, the expression, it all works.
4. Was Nomax (the character) ever part of any of your sexual fantasies? *insert eyes emoji* - Afraid not. You're one of the artists that's usually marked in my head as SFW even as you do NSFW stuff.
- I'm afraid the only thing that really happened was that it gave me a better sense of what I could commission you, if I did. There is some art from others that you've posted and I would have followed some of them such as NeoTheta if I wasn't following them already.
6. Has my art ever been helpful to your own artistic journey? (As a study, or my patreon etc.) - It's given me inspiration on what sort of styles I could go for when commissioning things.
7. Was it perhaps even the cause of you starting to paint?! - Afraid not. I had given up on drawing long before I found you.
8. Painted Dogs or hyenas? - As a cheetah, I have to pick our fellow savannah speedsters over stinky yeens
9. What do you -dislike- the most about my art? ( No need to be shy. I'm very skilled at crying myself to sleep.) - No criticisms that stand out. There are times when an area that I felt could have been drawn sharper is drawn blurred or so, but it rarely ruins the enjoyment of a pic and as I'm not an artist, my input on techniques is pretty much irrelevant.
10. Make one suggestion to the character design of Nomax. - Afraid got nothing there and not my place to suggest such things to your 'sona.
You're welcome. Been meaning to for the past few days ^^
You know, a lot of artists have been worried about their comments section getting empty whereas you got a pretty decent engagement here. I wonder if people these days don't do comments because what there is to say is not interesting/exciting unless presented in a different/novel format like you did here.
Then there are other sites like twitter that drain some activity from FA for example and also yeah, i think it can at some point feel a bit empty to leave a comment. Like the train of thought of "well what is one more 'looks good' going to do" sort of deal.
And this particular journal is a bit of a cheat, it's specifically a question and we all like to talk about ourselves, add to that the guidance of specific questions. So it just naturally tends to do better.
But yes, i certainly have the feeling that online discouse just ebbed a bit recently, with people deliberately staying away for mental health reasons and everything.
Otherwise though, I fully agree you on all counts. I myself have been feeling low enough to suspend my Facebook and Telegram. Trying to dip back today made me regret. I suppose others are in a similar place.
#2: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/17205366/ - seen when first logging into fa that day, The picture and what I could see of your previous uploads spoke of both a lot of talent, and the ability to visually tell a story. Instantly watched.
#3: I know it's simple, and so many of your other works deserve more attention, but 'setting sail' https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29472671/ really hit me. I can hear the music, see the unfolding tale, It's just so very good.
#4: Generally speaking, I tend to not have such unless there's some emotional/knowledgeable connection with the other person. Fictional character or not, so sadly I report no on this one.
#5: I don't favorite, I save locally (too many artists nuking their galleries prompted this) and more often than not I'll browse that folder, seeing pieces of yours which help the muse along when I'm considering a short story to write.
#6: I think the previous comment answers this, I often find good artwork a great primmer to a story.
#7: Sadly my creative talents lie either in written word, or engineering/product design/inventing. I was never good at the visual arts.
#8: As Hyenas are more closely related cats by the suborder Feliformia, This seems more a 'cats or dogs' question :} Personally I think both are just dandy.
#9: Honestly your work is amazing, and it's difficult for a non-artist such as myself to comment. But, we cannot improve in an environment of endless praise... if there was anything I could think to advise, is to try to use both dark and light to the point of saturation. Shadows and darker areas so dark they fade to black. Light sources and reflection so bright that they wash out and make it difficult to see.
Alchemist: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28749967/ is a good example of this, there's areas that should be both entirely black, and entirely white (shadows and reflections)
But, I think you're largely doing better in this.
Nomax Realism: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35300341/ Is far better, the pit of the nostril is nearly black, the shine of the glasses starts to wash out the surrounding colors.
#10: Quite difficult, I can't think of anything specifically that would help other than a silly accessory or clothing item that is just as easily dismissible. The way you show and carry and pose the character is honestly spot on.
And awesome, yeah one thing i've learned through this is just how many writers get some inspiration from them! So that's preeeeetty coooool! :)
1. Almost two years now! (See answer #2.)
2. That would be Armor! And I followed you after seeing it on Twitter.
3. Hard to say, as I like different ones for different reasons, and I have a habit of going "Ooh, shiny new things!" 😅 Buuuut, if I had to pick one... it would be Setting Sail, and Dry spell a close second.
4. No haha, unless a little kiss counts? I would want to get to know him more before that came to mind. He is cute though, I'll say.
5. It has! I missed the IGG for the Amazon unfortunately, but I often end up on Wikipedia digging into various subjects that your art brings to mind, like daguerreotypes. On a side note, is there a painted dog conservation you'd recommend?
6. It definitely is! In terms of drawing, it's more of am "if/when I'm more confident in my basics," but it does get my imagination going, and I often write out little snippets of things in my head inspired by your art.
7. It wasn't, but! If I were to paint more, I'd certainly look to you as an inspiration 😄
8. Hyenas; I'm more read up on them and an early anthro character I created was one.
9. Does "I wish there was more story behind your art" count? Perhaps it exists across the various pieces in your gallery, but I'd love to know more about Nomax, the world (or worlds) he inhabits, and generally whatever was the inspiration for your art. For example, I'd love to know more about the "opportunity presented" in Setting Sail.
10. I quite like him as he is, but also, people's characters tend to be personal and design is quite subjective, so it's hard for me to come up with a suggestion. I guess if I had to give an answer, I'd say "more ear" haha.
Though I've also cheated and seen several mentions of a raptor Nomax, so I think I'll have to go look through the archives haha. I guess thinking back on question #9, I would love to see more scaled characters (and Dust to Dust is another favourite), but I guess that's more a factor who commissions you more than an actual critique haha.
dewildt.co.za is an alternative that is probably somewhat less effective, but a bit more personalized as you can adopt an animal and then you'll get little updates about them every now and then which is fun.
And yeah, since you read some answers already you probably also know what i'll say to #9, really wish i could dig in some more with that but alas especially last year was just not a great time for it. I'm sure there'll be more time for it at some point but yeah, always the thing with not having enough time due to the whole "earning money thing" we all have to do. D:
And ah i'm glad for #4! I mean i draw the NSFW stuff of him not in a vacuum after all, it's really rather flattering and exciting to think about that people enjoy the character during their private moments!
Also oh gosh, for some reason the hiking and camping answer made me quite happy! It's just lovely that people end up enjoying nature more because of my work. Thank you very much for answering and providing some insight. :)
