What exactly is a Shining?
Shining's are often mistaken for or referred to as familiar's.
They are created and brought into the world of the living by a being of great power and a large amount of cosmic energy. When they are born they are pure, innocent, naive, and believe there is always good to be found in the world.
They venture out into the world, bringing with them good fortune, healing the land and others, and bringing safe travel to those traveling.
They than report back to their creator/master and report all they have seen. A sort of telepathic type communication.
The creator than decides to use their power to grant good fortune or punish those that deserve it.
In a way they make sure Karma is delivered around the world.
While the sight of one of these mystical creatures is usually a welcomed sight, there are times when they are met with fear.
Should a Shining be summoned and created to a creator with ill intentions and exposed to the ugly deeds in the world such as war, death, and cruelty of others. This is when they start to be become corrupted and become what is referred to as a Reaper. Reapers purposely kill and use their power and abilities to bring plagues, death, illness, or just misfortune to those around them while still under the control of a Master.
Those that begin to take pleasure and kill their own and absorb the cosmic power of those they slay have been referred to as Slayers.
Usually, Shining's are killed off before they reach the Reaper stage to prevent a corrupted from getting too far out of control.
If a Shining is allowed to continue down the path of Reaper and find a way to sever the bond between them and their creator, which usually requires them to kill their master. They are classified as Rouge.
Rouge's are dangerous creatures and are driven by creating pandemics that kill many people off.
They have been known to bring sickness to the land, killing crops and animals. Plagues, and create misfortune for those that cross their path.
Social Status:
While normally Shining's are pack creatures, enjoying the company of others and working together. There is a hierarchy to the pack. One Shining is always head of the pack and is the main communication between the master/creator for the rest of the pack. They then carry out and transmit the wishes and commands to the rest of the pack. Usually no more than six can be summoned, by a powerful creator. But to those with less power only one or two can be created.
Once they become corrupt and sever their ties to the pack and creator they are loners. They fend for themselves and are constantly on the move to hide from those that hunt them. Since they have no ties or morals most don't live for long and are killed off.
Looks:
Shapeshifters that can change gender at will as well as their appearance.
Appear to either be more canine or feline in appearance or sometimes a combo of the two.
They can shift between the two and even change their size. Only thing that never changes is the galaxy/star fur which always stays with them.
Fur and eye colors:
Pures:
often having lighter fur colors, soft golden yellows, whites, or silvers/light grays, tans, and have markings of blues, purples, greens, with soft blues, greens, and even lavender colors.
Corrupted:
Their fur's go from lovely light and friendly colors to dark grays, browns, and eventually, almost completely black the only thing that does not change is their marking colors as well as their stary fur. Their eyes turn Red, the whites of their eyes turning black.
