Vaccination

In a move no-one saw coming, the government was actually able to pass Covid relief in spite of Republican objection. It seems that majority is coming in handy, as we are now poised to throw away the dumb rationing system that most states adopted; you know, the one that keeps people from getting vaccinated until their "category" comes up.
I've received mine already. It was the Johnson&Johnson vaccine, the new one that was only just approved. It's only a single-shot vaccine, so unless a new mutant variant warrants further action I should be good for a while. Normally I wouldn't make a big deal about it but I think it warrants a mention because not a lot of people have gotten access to the shot yet and they might be wondering what to expect. With every other vaccine I've ever had, there were no side-effects. There were with this one. The day after the shot I felt...weird. Not full-on sick, but not quite well either; I felt a kind of full-body miasma...like a case of the chills, but where the shaking never comes. That and joint pain that left me feeling periodically arthritis-y. It wasn't bad enough that I couldn't have worked through it (though I had the day off fortunately). Still though, I wanted to warn people about it, as I have some friends who have poorer functioning immune systems than I, and might need to prepare to put aside some recovery time for their shots.
It's worth it though. I felt great the next day, and being vaccinated surprisingly lifted a lot of weight from my shoulders. I didn't realize I was harboring such low-key anxiety about the virus until after the jab.
So everyone, please, please get your shots...and maybe we can all see each other this summer.

Also it should be noted that the Moderna and Pfizer ones are mRNA vaccines, so those side effects come with the second vaccine, and the JnJ one is a more traditional vaccine, but still largely effective for the strains currently in the US, the only concern is that the JnJ was not as effective against the South African strain, and getting a booster for any variants for the JnJ type will take longer to manufacture.
But hooray another person hath been vaccinated! [Just note some people still become symptomless carriers, but it is still rare, last I checked]
Now, there's always the possibility that these variations might mutate further and get around the vaccine, but that's why the government is trying to ramp this up so much. States relaxing their restrictions this early aren't helping; it's pretty much a race against time.
Oh, trust me, I am just waiting for states like Florida and Texas to suddenly have more spikes in virus transmission rates; which will not be good, and so many people are traveling, and it is like, yes we have the vaccine, but damn, we can't be doing this much recreational traveling.
Then decromat promted the same thing as Trump remeber the 2000 dollars nothing ask as even Bernie join Trump mock the decromat lied then pass 1400 to try steal money from people if you to much tax we will remove it as Replucan didnt not ask your taxs.
As now media and Facui promotinig it may not work the vaccine becuase there corona 2.0 and 3.0 until 2022 or 2023.
Republicans voted against it to a man.
The only reason it went through anyways was because Democrats had a majority. So now distribution is ramping up and we will have purchased enough shots for every adult in the United States soon. I don't know why all the Republicans voted against it, but I'm sure the ones that are up for re-election are now kicking themselves and chewing their hats over it.
But yeah, that's what I meant by Republican obstruction. It was all in Congress.
I have to drive to Greenwood to get it, as I couldn't find any available appointments in the upstate.
I know it'll be a relief to get it, and hoping for only minor reactions, which is the only concern I have.
