They say you should forgive the people who have hurt you but I don't think I could do that. To me, doing so means that such people have won because they've gotten away with hurting me and haven't suffered any consequences for their actions.

I try to Figure out
1.2) did they intend to be cruel to me , as in the context: pushing down to be out of the path of danger
1.5) did they intend harm for harm sake to me
1.8) did they intend to harm any random passerby
2.0) was the hurt a (unintentional or intended) mishap
2.1) did I mistakenly walk into the path of a bullet meant for somebody else
A person can't always control their reaction at being/feeling hurt or for how long they feel that way
(Personally I'm still hurting about stuff I found out a year after my mom died. [still hurts but less so over 4 years later] )
