Pentapath Traveller?

Or maybe it’s quintapath?
Well whateverpath it is, that’s the big gimmick that I have been reticent to mention. My game is going to be five separate adventures in one, with each story branching down multiple paths. It seemed easy enough a concept to pull off at first, but that was until I started doing rewrites of the plot...lol.
The idea came about not from Octopath Traveller surprisingly (a game I’ve actually never played) but from one of my favorite games growing up - Seiken Densetsu 3. Recently released as Trials of Mana, I was OBSESSED with this game back in the day and loved how the game was essentially three separate stories in one depending on your chosen main character. In that game, it was really only the last portion that would drastically change story-wise, however there were still some moments throughout the game where your teammates would interact with the NPCs and events differently depending on who was in your party.
I wanted to do something based around that concept however, instead of the character, the flow of the story would change based on the region you chose to start in. And then even more so would change depending on what characters would join you over the course of your adventure. Ultimately this has led to a VERY large game- assuming you’d replay it to see everything. However my goal wasn’t to have a player see everything, but more to enjoy a unique adventure where you wouldn’t be able to predict where you’d end up. Essentially, there wouldn’t really be spoilers unless someone made all the same choices you did throughout the game - a very unlikely occurrence!
So as of now, the demo consists only of four regions with no plans on adding the fifth until the full release. Though each region will have its own storyline, characters, and main villain, all the plots and characters will eventually come together to interact throughout the overarching story. I tried my best to allow the player plenty of freedom in how they choose to advance the story through the choices they make, however there is still going to be some moments that will be the same for everyone.
As of now I’m putting the finishing touches on the plot and am getting most of the events tested and in place for that glorious moment I can assemble it all together. I hope to get it all knocked out in the next few months. So as always, please look forward to it!
