Well right, it's that extra five seconds that someone has to spend to write something out instead of just pushing a button and moving on. Even if it's just like "oh super cute" it still took more time and effort. Of course it's that but so much more if they actually have a comment to make about the piece other than just expressing they like it.
Even though that in and of itself isn't particularly difficult or time consuming, it's orders of magnitude more than clicking the like button. Not to mention that they decided to spend that time on your post specifically instead of the millions of other things that could be holding their attention at that time.

I agree. Likes are nice but seeing a comment fells like you did something to warrant a little more personal touch.

Yeah, it feels like people are commenting less and less.
When someone leave a like, you just scrolling with not paying as much attention to the work.

Know that feeling. It was part of what discouraged continuing my story writing. Like, great you are giving me likes but without feed back its like I felt like there was no improvement. Literally just going through the motions.

Oh for sure, I love giving and receiving comments on work. But, I tend to only comment when I have something more specific to say than "This is great!" :)

Yeah, true. But even the simple comment can say alot. :)

I personally like both comments and favorite. But it's true comments are a lot more exciting because you get to interact with the people who love your art and know what they like about it.
