I want to live near the sea.
Now I am on a short vacation in the resort city of Russia - in Sochi. You may know this city because it was here that the Winter Olympic Games were held in 2014. I came here to get acquainted with the city, to study the situation and to look for housing.
And...
I'm not moving to Sochi. I really planned to find a place to rent here and move South. This seemed like a great solution, since I can now work from anywhere in the world and I'm already sick of town where I live now.
However, things didn't really go according to plan. It turned out that there are very few places in Sochi where a freelancer can work comfortably outside of home. There is also a constant failure of mobile Internet and Wi-Fi. In many ways, Sochi is like a big village with palm trees and flowers. And of course, most importantly, in Sochi, the price tag for restaurants and coffee shops is slightly more expensive than in my city, and just a disproportionately huge price tag for rented housing.
And if not for the last point, I would still, no matter what, have moved here to live. Because there are also many advantages here.
- There is a sea nearby.
- Palm trees and flowers all year round.
- Urealistically delicious cafes and restaurants.
- The atmosphere of fun, happiness and relaxation.
- 3 times more sunny days than in my city.
- A very convenient system for renting electronic scooters.
- A huge variety of tourist places and a ski resort near the city..
And it is precisely because there are so many significant advantages to staying in Sochi that I still haven't completely given up on the idea of moving. At the moment, my income is not enough for a comfortable stay in this city, but I work hard, grow creatively and emotionally, develop myself and develop my art. Therefore, I am sure that the time when I will still be able to move to this wonderful city is not far off.
Please tell me, do you live in the North or in the South? Would you like to live near the sea or near the mountains? What is the ideal place for you?

Keep your dream alive. I'm sure you will be able to enjoy the seaside one day too!
Anyway, where I live in Michigan I'm not near the coast, but I can be over to Lake Michigan in a little more than an hour. And it's so sandy and beautiful it's like being at the sea, except for being fresh water instead of salty. I have a few pics of it on my gallery, such as this one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32197296/
Where I live we had a rather mild winter this year, but some years we get several feet of snow. I'm really more of a warm weather fox so I'd much rather live someplace warm. I just can't afford to live in the tropics.
Best of luck to you in achieving your dream! Keep looking and planning, and eventually you'll find something that's just perfect. By the way, instead of relying on mobile internet, look into wired internet service that goes directly to your home. That tends to be a lot more reliable, faster, and cheaper than mobile internet.
