... Auburn/russet or vermilion is typically what I envision, but sandy blonde might be kind of cute.

Sure! Sandy blonde it is. So mote it be. I just had no idea what species to make this character at all, so I thought I'd ask the audience.

... Now that I think about it; when you ask what color the fur is, are you asking for the species (red fox, arctic fox, Fennec) or simply the color? Not that it's that big of a deal, really. I just want to save myself the shock of realizing the fox in question is barely three feet tall.

And that's fair. The audience appreciates being asked.
