Recovery time and scarring depend on your body type and healing. If you heal quickly and don't scar badly then you should be okay. Talk to the doctor about what lotions and creams to use on the scars to lessen them. The drain tubes (if that applies to your case) are one thing that I hear suck the most.

I would suggest getting BioOil or ScarAway to use once you're cleared to do so by your surgeon's office! My scars stretched even though I was doing minimal movement for the first six months, but that's also how my body scars. Also, if you can get your hands on it, Lush has a lotion called Dream Cream that works really well for softening scars over time as well.

And the drains were annoying for me, but I barely felt any pain after my surgery even once I stopped taking pain meds. At first it takes some getting used to not being able to use your arms much, but you get used to it and the time will fly by before you know it.
