Another cool thing to share.

After my last journal, my pineapple friend recommended me to listen to the audiobook of "The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles." It has a lot of nice thoughts on the topic in general, but with how much I talked about fear, I would like to share one specific quote from that book: "If you're paralyzed with fear, it's a good sign. It shows you what you have to do." It's in reference to the idea that the opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. And if you care about something enough that it makes you scared, then it's something deep down you need to do. I hope you all out there dare to make that painting you're afraid of making. (:

Good words)

Yeah! :D

to be fair... when i am paralized by fear i know there is something in me that tells me something is wrong. But it takes a while to understand what and to make sure it is the correct thing to... uh... correct.

That quote definitely has to be taken in contest. I'm terrified by heights and wouldn't want to take it as a reason to step over a cliff. But in the context of creating art and falling prey to procrastination in general, it's a useful tool to recontextualize your experiences and find justification to go against base instincts. (:

to be fair when i feel like something is not working i need somebody else to take a look or i need to stop and work on that specific thing later. That is how i "fight" "blocks"

Yeah, all minds work a bit different. It's just like with teachers in general, you got to find someone who thinks the same way as you do, to have a good chance at learning. The social systems often impress on people the idea that a good teacher could teach anyone, or that a good therapist could help anyone overcome their struggles, but the way brains work is so diverse that it's unreasonable to expect any single person to have an easy time relating to every single variation. That's why I just hope a few people out there find my experiences helpful. And why hearing from others about their experiences in the comments also is valuable. (:

Can't agree more. No magic wand, nor gods, out there. Just us humans.
