On Losing One's Job

No, I haven't lost mine. I just started thinking about the (mercifully few) people I've had to fire over the years for being hopeless fuck-ups and asked myself, how do you justify your behavior after being told, in the bluntest of terms, that you didn't belong here in the first place?
Did the people I've had to let go consider themselves the victims, and lay the blame on everyone else? Did they believe they were being singled out for being... (insert racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, age-related, or religious identification here)? Did they think they had a legitimate excuse, or endless list of completely legitimate excuses, for blowing off their duties and pissing off their co-workers?
Does simply existing entitle you to a living?
It's what you do, how competent you are, and how you treat other people that I'm wondering about -- in other words, how you live. And I don't have any easy answers.

FA+

After I left that company 2 of them were able to sweet talk the boss into the idea that I was just had it out for them, and they got there jobs back....and then got fired again.
Simply put I don't think some people will ever learn. sad but true.
Yes. Full stop. It does not entitle you to a job, however, because a job is an agreement to be compensated for valued labor.
I hope the whole trend of and then my boss got arrested doesn't continue now that I'm self-employed.
Also how bad do you have to be at committing tax fraud and embezzling from your clients that your paralegal can figure out you're doing it.
I coped! No one is happy with the situation, but we got over ourselves.
Simply existing does not entitle you to a living.. I work two jobs to earn my living and I also understand it's my fault for not looking for something that pays more because of family loyalty.
It was a company which sold stuff mail order, but they were constantly in the condition of not being able to ship stuff until they got enough orders in order to pay what they owed to their suppliers, so unhappy customers called constantly, and I'd been handed a list of excuses to use. It didn't help that we had ads with several different names and numbers, and customers that said they'd never do business with us again usually ended up calling one of our other names.
