Upcoming Commission Updates
Hello!
I still have one commission left to finish, but I plan on completing it within the next week. With that, I have a couple updates I want to add to my commission rules. I’ll talk more about them in this thread.
The biggest update I plan to make is related to copyrighted characters or other “non-original” characters. I originally didn't accept them, but I feel comfortable enough to accept commissions involving them.
I was okay with Borusa's commission of a PokeOC because it was derivative enough from the source character.
So from now on, I will accept drawing copyrighted characters, whether they’re the original character or some derivation of it.
I think my new policy with commission will be “original characters preferred, but I’m fine drawing non-original characters”.
However, there will be characters and media franchises I will NOT draw (Beastars, MLP, Spyro, etc.). I’ll also exclude drawing humans. I will add more to this blacklist as I do more drawings or from what I see on Twitter.
With that previous tweet, I have the final say on whether or not I’m comfortable with drawing a certain character or a certain scenario. Just in the event that I do have to decline a commission. I’ll have this as a rule when I update my commission sheet.
In terms of when I have initial talks with someone, I’ll make sure to mention the total price of the commission upfront when I accept it. I still won’t send the invoice for the commission until it is completed.
One thing related to pricing I’ll add is that a more complex background will cost extra. I will make sure to ask about what kind of background you want.
If you don't have a preference on a background, I will try my best to have some sort of a background based on either any references you give or your commission details. I'll confirm it with you before working on the commission.
I will have a document that has all the details I’ve mentioned in this thread, along with anything else that comes to mind. I’ll make sure to have it attached when opening commissions from now on.
To determine these prices, I will do a series of polls to let y’all choose what I should charge. Maybe in the next week or two.
That's all the updates I have, thank you for getting this far!
