I have always had my discord contact available for the public. I have now removed it from my profile ID. It is still listed on my commission price sheet for those of you who need to get ahold of me!
Why have I removed it?
I have gotten way too many friend requests (I have my discord set up so you must request to be my friend to dm me) since making it public on my FurAffinity. This may sound harsh but please understand that my discord is only for close friends and business-related discussions, like commissions or Patreon. I do not have the time for idle chit-chat or becoming someone's friend at request.
If you DM or NOTE me with "hi", "how are you?", "can we be friends?" or anything else, I will ask if you are interested in commissioning me, inform you that my discord is for professional contact only as a warning. I have had people return to me within the same day, week, or even an entire year later to start up the same thing. I will remind you, but I will also unfriend you and ignore future business inquiries.
I don't mean to be rude but it's very frustrating dealing with this. You don't go to a restaurant and ask the cook to be your friend, do you? No. Please treat me with that same respect and understand I have no interest in randomly befriending people, holding unnecessary and overly awkward conversations, or otherwise.
Just because I commission people, take commissions, and have dragon characters does not mean I have any interest in pursuing these interests with random people. I can have meaningful and important conversations about my interests with my friends, or even my patrons. Friendships and conversations form naturally over time.
ONLY contact me through discord for commissions or Patreon.

Honestly, that's part of the reason I don't make my discord public. I'm like you, and only really use it for commissions or close friends. Mainly to avoid getting into contact with someone that I really don't wanna talk to.

Right! It's very frustrating having to sort through all the different dms...friends, commissions, randoms, server-related, etc etc like...if we can exclude one unwanted it helps lol

I get some people might be socially awkward or unsure how to start conversations but that’s not how friendships work. I agree with all of this, I really dislike random people DMing me out of the blue with small talk, like what do you want me to say if we don’t know each other in the first place?

Absolutely :"D I try to take that into consideration with people when they do that haha. Like. Okay, maybe you don't know but my dms are for xyz...and some people take that okay. Others... idk. Like you said, what are we supposed to talk about?? I'm certainly not gonna divulge info about my day and life outta nowhere pff

Another thing is that the "can we be friends?" question, that type of convo works better in real life, such as a school setting or among younger kids, and some people think that works online? Nah it doesn't unfortunately. ^^;

Random friend request and some sort of "Wanna be friend?" Happened to me though and i have only less friend for now.
