Hey y'all,
I only knew him personally in the last few years, and only through letters, and emails.
But he's one of the main reasons I am here, on this website, and a part of this fandom.
So, way back in the mid-'90s, I had reason to be in Portland Maine on a weekly basis, and in town there was a lil' comic shop called 'Idle Worship'.
Whilst perusing the comics, I found myself looking at the small, but interesting 'funny animal' section.
And found Antarctic Press' 'Furrlough' #18. There was a cute VC mouse on the cover, and I, being a war-stuff buff ( and a teenager, lol) picked it up, flipped through it and gladly paid the $2.75.
I had no idea there was a furry fandom, or anything else. But it lit a spark in me, and while many years later, the fire doesn't burn as high and hot, it's still there.
When he found out I was a collector of militaria, he sent me a 'starter' of WWII items, and other things.
I only wish I could have met him, but time and money never got nailed up right for me to visit.
So, farewell shep Thank you for the inspiration, and may you rest well.
