I've unfollowed three people this past week for that very same thing.
It's artists like them who brought about that rule of limiting your reminders.
But two in particular delete the reminder and repost it every three hours, and it's just... too much.
I might adore their art, but when you spam me with a dozen reminders every few hours, it couldn't turn me off more.

So I feel your pain.

There is a fine line between reminders and spam attacks, and even if an artist creates great drawings, irritation of too many reminders will eventually outweigh

I don't blame you. Constant ebegging is not cool. Its really not hard to get a job especially these days when so many places are short staffed. If you're actually disabled, then I get it. but I think for the most part, people just dont want to work and they'd rather use the fandom as their bank account

Honestly it's not something bad to be freelance artist and create art like it's your full-time job, especially if we talk about such countries as Russia, Ukraine etc... Because here is very hard to find normal job. This is not laziness, it is just difficult circumstances. BUT of course it shouldn't become soulless and annoying commerce. Because in this way, creativity turns into greed and a constant lust for money.

I'm very tolerant to the "spam" I see in my journals/inbox. However even that patience runs thin and out over time. I finally reached a point where I removed one artist from my follow list due to them having a broken record like level of spam (and annoyance complaining). Though I might have to set a tolerance limit and remove more artists off the follow list when they reach said limit of "spam".

I totally understand you! I'm also very patient, but yeah little strokes fell great oaks. I understand that my limit is close when I see the drawings of artist and don't feel any happy emotions, just irritation :(

There's a rule on the site that says that users can't use multiple account to do spam/reminders.

It's great if people really calm down! There are such people, it seems to me that nothing can stop them.

Sadly it's hard to stop them. Even if it's the the policies of FA, some peoples don't listen. Or many of them don't know that this rules actually exist because they don't take the time for. But if I may suggest, if you look into your inbox for new submissions and see someone spamming with over posting, try to take a screenshot of the whole page, also take screenshot of each submission alone with the time they were post. Like that, you can fill a ticket to FA and send them the screenshots as proof. It's just a suggestion. Mainly when I see someone doing it, I just inform them of the rule by giving them the journal about it, but if they continue, I just gather the evidence. I did that 1-2 times only, but it worked both times.

Sure, could be a an idea, but if peoples want the spamming to stop, it's better to act or it will not change. But it's true that if peoples see themself lost followers, maybe they will have a moment to think about it.

It's an incentives problem.

Why would an artist care how many people they annoy as long as they get the one sale they were looking for?

The way to stop it would be for FA to have penalties that actually matter (ie., ones that cause artists to lose money overall for this behavior). But as it stands, annoying people costs nothing, and getting a sale gives them something, it's basically no drawback vs. the chance at a reward.

The reward is going to win every time until there's a drawback.

Unfollowed a lot of artists because of this. It is the most frustrating thing. There was one artist, I kid you not was doing the same reminder every 10-20 minutes on one account. I totally understand the need to make money from things but spamming like that hurts them worse. There is another artist I'm at the end of patience for that I commissionedast year, November I think and they haven't even done a sketch yet! Yet they run their commission reminder and a ych constantly with many ych being done even though they were ordered after my commission. I just recently noticed too they no longer keep updates on their page..

If you can't draw, firstly, you must notify the commissioner, explain it, discuss it and make a refund if a preson don't want to wait for so long, and secondly, don't take new comms. It seems so obvious. Again this is unacceptable/ Hope your situation will be resolved soon.

I agree, especially when I know that artist is already behind on comms I'm VERY patient as I understand that people have things that come up. It is, however, very annoying seeing them post 20+ reminders of new ych's they have available when they still have a year's worth of backlog... (mine was paid 19mo ago on a <1mo turn-around ych) I'd un-follow but I'm still holding out hope that I'll see my piece one of these days!

I do on the other hand have an artist that has made a few for me that posts 30+ at one time, but they only do it once a month or so. They've also stuck to really quick turn-around times. Dumping is fine, spamming, not so much! xD

Everyone may have certain circumstances, but when a person obviously doesn't know how to manage time then don't take so many commissions omg. This is a manifestation of disrespect for the commissioner. Hope your situation will be resolved soon.

Of course, this is a completely different situation! When an artist just uploads different drawings once a month (even 30+) I think it's okay because all of these drawings are unique

Would be nice if you could follow just for art. Or if they made a system to flag something as a YCH and be able to unfollow YCH reminders or something.

the term 'attention wh*re' comes to mind, and I usually dislike them.
ya know, once a month commissions notification is perfectly fine, heck, even every week if they are really fast!
but DAILY? I mean seriously. and I dislike YCH's anyway because it doesn't allow for OC owner choice much at all.
it's like the 'clone' postings that are almost all YCH's. Boring.
I don't mind 'artistic freedom' commissions, matter of fact some of the better pieces of art I've commissioned have been 'Artistic Freedom' commissions!

I mean, I can see YCH from ONE perspective, when a client doesn't know what they want, you can say, try one of these, or if they need quick turn around.

I also don't like clones, but it seems a good solution for those who don't want to spend a lot on art, but still want to grab a good drawing xD If they feel okay with lack of individuality, that's fine.
But I like YCHs:) As you said very often people really don't know what they want, and artists offer them a ready-made solution in which customers can see their characters perfectly.
Sometimes I also want to create my own ideas and not just follow instructions and wishes. So I offer it to people, and it's great if, again, people see that their character fits there perfectly.
btw it's priceless when commissioner gives art-freedom q.q but it happens sooo rarely

Yes, spam is annoying. I've already unfollowed 3 or 4 artists because they didn't follow the rule. But it could also be that you have never read the rules.

I once made a ticket for one of them because this person was bold, they even used old art as a reminder for various YCHs without changing the image or adding that it was one. Just the picture and a link in the text. I guess she got a week off, but she's still doing it, as I saw recently.

You can get upset about it, but sometimes I think there are so many other artists who don't do that. You'd rather follow them than those who spam.

Yeah I've only had to unfollow one artist for doing 4 reminders a day for the same thing.
If you're doing Auctions and YCHs then typically its fine if you post, remind after a week, and remind with 1 day remaining.
I'm not an artist though so might be missing something..

Seconded! it seems to be getting worse, too? FA used to be better about swatting that stuff down and temp suspending offenders but seems like that doesn't happen anymore. I've un-followed dozens because if this.

I'm 120% with you on this one. It's annoying as can be. The best advertisement an artist can make for themselves is consistently posting good stuff.
