I have never understood

In real life, people always say "aww" when they think something is cute. So, when people are writing it, why do they put a "d" at the beginning so often? I have never heard people actually say "daww" in real life.
In my own experience I’ve heard lots of d’awws and awws with the same frequency, strangely enough!
Could be just dialect difference, like how some people pronounce “bicycle” differently from place to place,
Some saying “bï-sï-kul” and some saying “bï-sik-kul”
