why do characters who usually wear nothing, when they go to the beach put on swim trunk and bathing suits?
For example Tom and jerry, not wearing clothes but once they go to the beach, they don clothing.

well in the new tom and jerry and the older ones shaved tom was wearing boxers in the new one he lost them also in SpongeBob squidward wears a shirt no pants but when at the beach he wears trunks who knows

Cartoon logic, it's how they work like that. I tried to question that years ago as well.
