How has FA's moderation/security been for you? I was curious because I've been experiencing some issues as well and was wondering about someone else's POV. If you're uncomfy of sharing that's understandable.

The flood of child porn on the front page earlier today should be reason enough for anyone to leave this site. Spammers have been running rampant since the site was bought back.

It got handled fairly quick after I reported it, but yes. At least five sperate images, and I seriously doubt the admins did their duty in reporting it to the proper authorities. This site doesn't even retain data in the ways it is legally required to do so.

When that kind of content is posted the admins are legally REQUIRED to report any and all information and hand over whatever info that have especially if their server has kept the info. The FBI is insurmountably strict with this kind of thing. If the info was fully dumped/deleted the admins must still hand over info such as who uploaded it, name of account, time and date etc etc. The FBI does not fuck around.

Refusal can lead to obstruction of justice charges for anyone involved.

Don't count on the nepotistic mods even being aware of that. The data was scrubbed the moment the admin deleted the account, and that most likely includes the raw access logs, which are visible to and part of the user account. It is as if the user never existed.

Oh pfft, good point. I did it for a month to see what was different, cause I’ve been on FA since 2011 (thru various accounts since name changing still isn’t a thing)
And just forgot to get rid of it. ADHD at its finest.
But like I said, I’ve been here for ages. Nothing has changed other than the layout, I’ve seen it go to IMVU and then back to Neer.
I have nothing personal with the people who run the site per say, but the site as a whole is a dumpster fire. Trolls get in, spammers get in, it takes ages for things to be taken down, cases don’t get handled as they should.
I’ve reported CP artwork in the past and was brushed off, for one example.
It’s just a whole mess lol

Is there a site out there that doesn't have its own flaws and or issues, or isn't vulnerable to the same issues that are here becoming a problem elsewhere? I'm actually somewhat curious, since I like, hear some people there there and elsewhere complain about FA, but then never seem to have a strong alternative that alot of folks flock to.

there is no alternative unfortunately. :( i pretty much live on my discord server when it comes to posting/interacting with people but alas, i do require an ID so most people don't go there

This is so, so true.

Sadly Furaffinity is more on top of everything than a lot of other sites, only one I can think of is Weasyl.

And as much as everyone complains about FA, Deviantart is far, far worse on child porn, racists and actual gore.

Deviantart seems pretty chill compared to FA, in my experience at least. I'm pretty sure they don't allow porn of any kind, but I'm sure some people are able to get past the moderation (it definitely is less moderated than here)
Still, I have never seen any CP or IRL gore in there, so this is a little surprising to hear (but that could be because I don't go on the front page much...)

Honestly since the redesign I haven't see any of that garbage, as the algorithm just shows me the same stuff I fav (mainly furry ladies, art tutorials and fun furry pieces) and I am thankful for that.

Before that when it was easier to get into the photomodels there was so much borderline stuff nearly on every page, it made looking for poses, references and ideas impossible and very uncomfortable.

afaik it wasn't them who responded, it was the account owner that deactivated. if anyone knows different i'd love to know cuz FA mods haven't been diligent with security it feels like

Good luck on the move, I will check in on your new site from time to time.

Honestly I've been more active in selling art in person and on discord myself, furaffinity is just a spot to dump artwork.

Honestly Furaffinity feels like a nicer, kinder Deviantart.

Too bad that FA has the YouTube syndrome of being the biggest and best site of it's kind, with practically no (good) alternative...but filled to the rim with issues. So, so many issues.

Yeah...Inkbunny with their allowing drawings of underage characters, e621 with the same and a shit ton of art thieves, DeviantArt with the site problems and not allowing NSFW stuff, Newgrounds with the horrible comment system, Twitter with being...well, Twitter, and so on.
