Lots of people do auctions as "X hours after last bid"

Some people also do 24 or 48 hours after last bid. At first it didn’t make sense to me, but thinking it through, it helps prevent sniping across time zones. Say I live in Thailand and I bid at noon my time, no one in the US is likely to be awake to bid back.

But I guess this depends on your audience. Just thought it was useful to know.

1 hour is better, the problem with the 1 day extended bidding is people using multiple accounts to bid tiny ammounts to extend it until their payday, which is just annoying.

Yeah. most auctions have the increment set to $1, or local equivelent, so per 24 hours, waiting a week would cost you $7 extra. Hourly, its about 170. so, if they want to use that trick on an hourly bid, it could cost them hundreds.

Then…you still have the Dave Hesters of auctions…YUUUUUUUUUP!!! Those people who intentionally drive bids higher so others end up getting an item for much more than they actually wanted to bid for. It really wouldn’t apply here, though, since this is a tiered auction.

They have to be careful, though, because if they guess wrong the other person will bail out and then they get slapped with having to spend a lot of money out of nowhere
