So, what I was thinking is that his coworkers quietly go out to dinner at some some high-end restaurant without notifying him about it, just so they can get away from him a little bit. However, when Shòu eventually realizes what they’re up to, he decides to go over there and stand on top of the structure while staring down at the group of coworkers, who just so happened to be beneath a skylight. He’d probably be giving them a friendly scare, or berating them for leaving him out of their activities.

Does that sound in line with what he might actually do?

He's talking into a handheld communicator, assuring his captain that he's hard at work. But he's just lazing around and has a handheld game console in his lap.
There could be a video camera watching him, or maybe even the pic could be from the viewpoint of the camera.
