Inflation/Popping In Animation
All furs came from somewhere, an all inflationists too.
From the time that sweet Violet Beauregard popped her first button to watchin' in happen all over again in glorious CGI in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake, yer favorite Capn' has always felt...special feelin's about folks blowin' up like balloons.
An most particularly when they get a little too big fer their britches!
As fer where the Fur thing came from? Probably the Disney. Some of those lovely feminine furs indicate a few of the Disney staff themselves had a thing fer ladies with animal features.
So fer all those mad as The Capn', here's some of his favorite instances of inflation and exploding in various forms of media: some of which might be a bit obscure, but that makes them more fun to find sometimes.
PLEASE SHARE YER OWN! Ol'Squeaks loves inspiration.
An watchin' furs (or even not sometimes) swell up and/or go boom.
1: The Horde (1994)
It's distressingly rare to find a video game where enemies inflate, let alone explode.
The Horde has EVERY enemy do just that!
Without any explanation whenever yer brave hero stabs a little chubby claymation foe they swell up huge, bulge their eyes, and burst into a pile of scraps.
The animation is fast but it's such a novelty to find something NOT Dig Dug that embraced this supposed PG way to deal with 'slaying' an enemy.
Of course folks like The Capn' ruin this by havin' his twisted imagination wonder.
Does that sword cause EVERYTHING it pokes to swell up and explode uncontrollably...?
And yes, one Hordeling does explode in an FMV cutscene!

2: The Nutcracker (1973)
This Soviet era animated Nutcracker is like if Don Bluth made furry inflation fetish film.
It's beautifully scored an animated but more to the weird purposes of the Capn' it has one of the most compelling inflation/bursting scenarios committed to cinema.
The Mouse Queen and her brat child arrive to harass the queen and her kid, the queen eventually transforming the prince into the Nutcracker.
But the King goes into a secret chamber marked with a skull and cross bones and emerges...with a container of pepper.
Sprinkling this on the Queen makes an already large lady swell up, fighting for a sneeze, until she explodes leaving only her tail...destroyed like so much vermin.
Years later her son takes on his mother's army and her fat body, until (SPOILERS) his crown gets knocked off causing his magic to implode.
He starts to sneeze like good ol' mom, swells up huge, and bursts into gas.
The gas then starts affecting his troops, causing each to start sneezing, swell up, and explode on their final 'CHEW!'
Soon the entire army pops like firecrackers...untll one clearly terrified mouse, holding his nose, emerges and makes a run from the deadly gas that pursues him like a living thing.
He rushes into a hole with the gas trailing after him. He hear a sneeze and a bang.
Ol'Squeaks would LOVE to write or see written a scenario in which an army of fem baddies all got doused in inflation magic/gas like this and had to hold their breath or risk inhaling...then swelling, then sneezing themselves into oblivion. The last one maybe, looking around at the remains of her comrades, makes a run for it but just can't resist her gaseous destiny.
...
Is Ol'Squeaks weird he finds that incredibly hot?

Viva Piñata (2008)
Jus... this whole show.
Not only are the animals pretty cute and hilarious their born purpose is to be broken apart, which is a new kind of objectification. Somewhat creepy is the one who doesn't want to be busted for a child's birthday party so he keeps having to be dragged to his fate or desperately come up with schemes to avoid it.
It's actually quite a fun and funny show which is perfectly fine for kids, but fer bigger kids with weird brains there's episodes like Confetti-Itis.
Here the island's inhabitants drink snake oil since it seems to give them energy, even drinking so much they start to sag like water balloons.
But then the potion takes on a new effect, filling them with confetti until they can no longer move and roll around groaning, bloating, and whimpering about how they feel they'll explode.
It all works out in the end, but there's plenty of male and female furs (well, close to) ballooning up huge, moaning, rolling around, and that great scene of a fat cow piñata begging not to pop.
Again, the Capn' may be a little weird...

Conker’s Bad Fur Day/Conker Live And Reloaded has Marvin the rat, and Count Batula
Pandemonium 2 has an ability called 'Pump-a-Sid' for Fargus
There's actually quite a few inflation/transformation related Viva Piñata episodes!
In Horstachio of a Different Color the stuck up rival of a lead character is tricked into eating berries, kicks out of his own skin, and transforms into a berry zebra.
In Candiosity, Fergy decides to 'become smaller by becoming larger'...which means to eat himself huge on candy. He eventually explodes, re-setting himself to smaller.
Sick Day has Fergy catch a cold to relieve himself of candy to avoid going to a party, but he starts filling up with extra candy until he fears he'll be big enough to harvest.
Candibalism sees Fergy trying to pass off a life-sized candy statue as his sister...whom he stuffs himself with and is put on trial for eating alive.
In Sumo Tsunami Fergy starts a regime to fatten himself into a wrestler. He gets flattened (literally).
Also Sumo loincloths are continually referred to as 'diapers'
Mr. Unbustable. Fergy bulks up to prevent himself from being broken open during parties.
Party Parasite is the mpreg/vore epsiode which spoofs Fantastic Voyage
The B-Movie Street Trash has a scene where a police officer drinks a brand of alcohol called Viper and inflates until he bursts
Aye! Remember Street Trash. Not really much into gore though (same reason the scene in Slither is interesting but not exciting)
1 was in Dragon Ball Z (the Majin Buu Saga). Where you literally had inflation and explosions
Babidi's magic where he killed both Spopavitch (and later a poor tournament worker named Marvin) by using his magic to blow them up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuFNwYaAEyA
Then you had Yakon's death. Done in by his own gluttony as he tried to absorb all of Goku's energy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O6faO1HU20
and of course, when Majin Buu killed a guy (named Butler) in the most brutal fashion out there. By turning himself into a liquid and killing the guy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpNR9d-2Ed4
(Though he tried that on Gogeta, but failed humorously)
There's the female version of this from the anime Cobra he discovered quite quickly (the genie episode with explosive seeds)
They also reform easily too so ye have all the booms but no boo-hoos :)

Ol'Squeaks was...um...impressed with a certain scene where a blow-hard triceratops got stuck in a tarpit in The Land Before Time. Fer some reason it's jus doubly fun to see arrogant beings in those situations.
(Haha terrible jokes)
(hides entire library of stories)

Thanks for share those gems uwu 💜
And remeber poppers!
Always wear mask to evict blow like that three head rat :3
Hmmm speaking on pinata stuff, a thought for an idea has come to me: imagine a story of someone turning into a pinata, then slowly growing fatter and fatter as the candy inside swells and swells, and it becomes a choice: get broken and stay a pinata forever (like in the show) or swell and swell till you explode, never to be fixed again. Could make for an interesting horror story or something... forgive the dark tone.
The little witch academia inflation for sheer size and roundness is one of the best inflated dragons ever! Quite a few dragon furs did tribute pics of them popping in a similar manner too, me included!
The new Castlevania show also has quite a few evil animals and undead critters popping as they react badly to Belmont's whip.
As for what got me into inflation - a frog but not the usual sesame street aesop one - but a really similar "puffing with pride" till explosion scenario that ends a folk story/song. I can try to find it on YouTube again if there's any interest
I've been digging through my mind for influential inflation scenes from my childhood; one of the earliest scenes I can think of, although it is live action, not animated, was a skit from All That, featuring the inept "volunteer firefighter" Randy Quench, who mistakenly put a healthy woman on oxygen at full blast, causing her to eventually explode (she was fine, although he clothes and hair were ruined).

Come to think of it, I remember being keenly interested in the episode of Fairly Odd Parents "The Same Game" (S1E6-2), but I can't remember if that was before or after my interest took shape.

Last, and I won't post a link, but I can remember Naruto having 2 examples; one where Naruto uses his shadow clones to explode a giant snake that had eaten him, and another where Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade were all fighting each other, and at one point Orochimaru's snake had Tsunade's slug in a tight grip, and to escape, it basically "popped" into a bunch of smaller slugs. Something about that struck me as well.
It's crazy how much of this stuff gets formed at such a young age, before you even have the wherewithal to even know what it means, and what it will mean for you later on in life.

There's also the pinata stuff from Three Cabenaros...
