Things i need to improve upon as an artist
4 years ago
General
this is a list of areas where i need to improve my self in making art, and things i will be working on periodicly till i can do them more efficiantly.
1. Managing my mental health:
Getting sick is not good for health, and neither is forgetting to eat :P.
2. Steping away from solely black outlines:
Moving away from solid black outlines should be the main priority, followed by usuing verying thicknesses of lines, aswell as colourings to add more life to art.
3. Practicing using the graphics tablet:
Using the graphics tablet would eliminate my use of paper, and allow me to create more varried peices, aswell as add details more smoothly.
4. working on one peice at a time:
Instead of working on 2 or 3 peices at a time, we should focus mainly on one peice, and soly that one peice, so we don't squander our efforts trying to complete multiple peiced at once.
5. Draw things i like more, than just drawing what others might like(with in reason):
We should figure out what we want to create, rather than chasing trends, or being a generalist. This would help narrow our gallary into a set area of work, or a few neiches that would help people find what they like. (anxiety dosen't help this one.)
6. improved shading, and more diverce lightings:
As it stands currently, we are very limited in how we chose to do lighting, mainly opting for a cheap stratagy that, while provides decent results, is not entirely what we should focus on doing. same for highlights. using highlighs in excess is detramental to everything.
7. Find our style:
I like flat peices of art better, but everything just seems to imply that it is not good to look at compaired to peices that are maticulously crafted, and seem painted. It would be nice to find our own style, but that's kinda hard, given we aren't expirianced enough, and constantly try living up to the expectations other artist have set before us. We arn't high tier art, and we arn't low teir enough to inerest people who might want to watch an artist improve, so we're kinda stuck in the middle.
8. become someone who people would want to commision.
it would be awsome to reach this goal.
9. be more posotive!
While grim stories and horrific artwork are nice to some people, sometimes, you just want to see something cute, and uplifting. we should try being more posotive.
10.create backgrounds, and potentially let others use them if they want to/create an asset bag we can pull from
Creating backgrounds and the like would be priority, but it would still benefit from having a proper back of assets i could grab from and implant into a peice if i needed something specific, like leave patterns, or a set of trees i can use as a base tree, to construct a new tree, rather than each tree being created each time. it's just an idea, but it would be interesting,
11.Be happy with ourselves, and our art:
If goal 11 can't be obtained, why even continue?
Lets hope we can improve, or die trying.
