Oh it's absolutely spam. I had someone suggesting I could pay for their art later and to just let them draw something for me. That's definitely not how you get your name out there.

I don't like being guilted into commissioning someone personally. I like the idea of artists being interested in doing art for me I'm flattered.

But I do feel like sometimes they push too hard and aren't respectful my opinion is if you are okay with it the artist should just note with an idea and be ready for in the answer is no..

As for doing it to people who don't as for it I agree that's straight spam

Honestly I think they wanna be stay at home artist. Nothing wrong with that but just don't push others to make your dream come true

Oh yeah, it's weird. I even had someone kinda trick me into paying them for art. The conversation started off with them asking, "Hey are you new here?" I asked why and they said because my account looks bare and I need more art. I said yeah I know I do lol. He then asks what ideas I was having for art pieces. And well since I do have ideas of art, while also ideas of artists to go with, I began telling him stories of my images I had for my characters. Which is of course fun to talk about with anyone. He then asks specific questions and says that he would like to try doing it. So he leaves me to believe that, hey free gift right? then he asks me if I have checked his commission price list. I said, "No, didn't think I needed to. You didn't explicitly ask me if I wanted to commission you." No response lol.
