If you can post the model and size I could check the fans needed. However I'm betting it needs more then just fans. Is the water cooler hot here the radiator is?

Yeah, if the fans blades are still spinning properly it may be the rad. Water coolers, even AIOs, do lose water over time and get air bubbles which can reduce performance. But if the fans are still spinning and the water block seems okay I would first check the thermal paste.

If you haven't changed the thermal paste in a while that stuff does dry out and loses performance. My GPU was overheating to the point it was throttling, the fans were revving to 100%. I replaced the paste and temps dropped by as much as 30 degrees. So if you haven't changed out the thermal paste in a while I'd also consider that as a potential for heat.

Fans still spinning. The radiator is dusty buy I cleaned it before. Thermal paste was replaced 3 years back when the motherboard was changed. I didn't notice any difference. But the rendering till it hits 100 degree is new to me... too hot

Hrmm. If the fans are working and the paste was replaced it could be that the cooler's pump isn't working as well as it should. One thing you can try is to ensure that the BIOS setting for the pump's fan controller is set to max (there are things that can change that, and the pump's fan pins have to be maxed out for best performance). Granted, you may have checked that, so if that's the case, could be failure.

In all honesty you DON'T need water cooling, just a really solid cooler. Not that water cooling is bad, but it's not quite the end all, be all. This is one of the highest rated, better performing coolers at a ridiculously reasonable price (look up reviews, it's insanely high performance for the value).

Pair this up with some Thermal Grizzly and you're gonna have a great time at almost no real cost.

i reapplied the thermal paste and cleaned my pc, doesnt seem to hit 100 anymore...but I am in an Air conditioned room so stat might be different? it does seem a bit cooler

While that one core seems a bit high all the others are operating normally. I wouldn't really worry about it. That said, I'm not sure what paste you're using, but you could probably invest in a slightly better paste for a few dollars and reduce those temps a bit more.

That said, low 90's are not temps I'd personally worry about on an older Intel platform. Those chips did run pretty toasty, and all the other cores ARE fine, so it's not something I'd be generally concerned with.

On the plus side, if you need to update, replacing a motherboard, CPU, and RAM is reasonably cheap. Plus the performance differences will be pretty huge, and give you access to DDR4 RAM and newer tech like m.2 SSDs which are insaaaaanely fast.

GPU will still be a problem, but you can upgrade the rest of your rig fair reasonable amount, especially if you go AMD.

ohh i wanna do an upgrade but its gonna be a whole rig since gaming MOBO that can fit 4 sticks of ram in it does not exist anymore for the lga1150 socket :C but yea

Hold off as long as you can. Next gen and DDR5 are riiiight around the corner. If you can be patient it's gonna be a mega performance jump.

As Dragoneer mentioned, check the thermal paste. It does becomes less effective over time, gradually becoming an insulator, especially if it was installed improperly (i.e. too thick, which everyone does) or is of low-quality.

Also make sure your water pump is actually pumping.

Clean the dust out of your radiator. This may involve removing the fans and/or the entire radiator to get it properly cleaned, but it is a part of regular PC maintenance that should be performed at least twice a year, and MUCH more if you have pets. Every month is not uncommon.

I had a Corsair H50 water cooler running continuously for over 12 years with no problems. No fluid loss, no pump failure, no fan failure. It was really amazing, to be perfectly honest. Still 100% functional when I sold it.

Edit: also, if you vape or smoke, the radiator will become gunked up over time with very difficult to remove tar/oily residue. You may have to scrub with a toothbrush and lots of isopropyl alcohol, and you will likely never get it perfectly clean.

I personally think it's a time to change. Temp when rendering at 100 degree is just ridiculous. I used to vacuum and brush it but it's not enough. Maybe temporary

I mean more than likely some of the fluid has dried up in the radiator. 7 years is a long time for a closed-loop. You may want to look at a different system. A Noctua NH-D15 if you have the space is an amazing cooler. Since there is little performance difference between a good water cooler (Excluding the mass of a custom loop with a big reservoir) , and an air cooler.

10 out of 10 noctua makes great stuff most of my rigs have a heat sink from them

Hey experienced PC user here. Do the temps hit 100% quickly (within 10 to 15 seconds) or more slower (20 to 30 seconds after render start)? Quickly means the pump has most likely failed, slow means the thermal paste might have failed and has cracked due to it being dry.

If pump has failed you can either get a new water cooler or just purchase a tower air cooler like others have mentioned. Depends on budget but both solutions are very effective either way.

90s is still quite high as hell, that's thermal throttle limit, tjMax is about 105 for older Intel CPUs where emergency power cutoff is. Yea with a repaste and clean, then that means the pump of the water cooler is either failing or there's too much air in the loop from permeation (liquid coolers lose water over time through evaporation through tubing, it's why some newer AIO coolers have the ability to be topped off.).

I say go for a new cooler for sure.
