Zeus vs Summer - NFL Pick Em Round 2 - Week 3
4 years ago
Finally on the board! Let's turn this week into two in a row on my revenge tour this season.
To recap, here are the rules.
1. Summer and I will pick 3 NFL games based on the current spread. The favored team (represented by a negative sign) HAS to win by more than the listed number for anything to count. So if the spread is (-3), and the favored team wins by a field goal, that is a push. Neither side wins, and that is a loss on our ends.
2. We battle on a week to week basis. If we have the same outcome, that week is a push an no one gets a point. The winner of this challenge will get to choose what sort of kinky art they want involving the losing party.
With that said, let's not waste anymore time and jump into picking!

PICK 1
~ Seattle Seahawks beat and cover against the Minnesota Vikings as road favorites (-2.0)
This really seems like a trap inducing line, as the Vikings are in complete desperation mode to get a win. They really should have beaten the Cardinals on the road. But, bad teams find ways to lose, and the Seahawks are going to be very angry for losing a game at home in overtime. I can see this being very close, but a FG win is certainly in the cards for this one. The Seahawks need to get every win they can muster out of the division if they want a seat at the playoffs.
Result: Seahawks 17 Vikings 30 (WRONG)
A desperate Vikings team pulls through at home. They really should be 2-1 right now, but maybe they are turning the corner. Seattle has a lot of soul searching to do lately sitting at 1-2. Ugly performance by their defense.
PICK 2
~ Atlanta Falcons outright beat and cover against the New York Giants as road underdogs (+3.0)
What a boring and disgusting game this will be. But, the Giants are truly putrid in all areas on their team. I think the Falcons will march into New York to have something to prove over another bad team this week. Matt Ryan is trying to have a resurgence in his career. Why not start with beating teams they should?
Result: Falcons 17 Giants 14 (CORRECT!)
It's no surprise why the Giants are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Falcons will definitely get better as the year goes along.
PICK 3
~ Pittsburgh Steelers cover against the Cincinnati Bengals as home favorites (-3.0)
The Steelers have had the Bungles number for the past decade. Just like how the Bills performed against a team they've dominated recently (my poor Phins), I do think the Steelers are by far the better team. And they have something to prove after a bad loss at home to a surging Raiders team. Steelers should harass a bad offensive line and keep the Bengals under 13 points for sure.
Result: Steelers 10 Bengals 24 (WRONG)
It's official. The Steelers are going to have a losing record this season with this putrid offense. The defense can only do so much. A team that they dominated for a decade finally owns them on the road? Crazy for sure...
Overall Result: 1-2. (TIE) Another incredible week of upsets. Nothing makes sense in the NFL anymore, but at least I managed to secure a tie this week against my foe. Gotta keep up the lead going for the rest of the season!
Unofficial gut reaction picks below. NO SPREAD CONSIDERED! (Current Record 10-13). Bolded picks are ones that came true. Italicized is wrong picks.
Bills > Washington (PONE SURVIVOR PICK OF THE WEEK)
Browns > Bears (Will be closer than people think)
Ravens > Lions (Over by halftime)
Titans > Colts (Always hard to predict. But Titans don't want to lose two in a row at home)
Chiefs > Chargers (Another squeaker win by the Chiefs I say)
Patriots > Saints (Pats won't lose two in a row at home)
Cardinals > Jaguars (Might be a decent performance for the Jags...)
Broncos > Jets (Blowout central)
Raiders > Dolphins (I don't trust the backup QB for my Phins :C )
Rams > Bucs (Bucs D will come back to bite them this week)
49ers > Packers
Cowboys > Eagles
