Midwest Cough Furfest
Posted 12 years agoSo I usually get sick on fridays, right around 4:30pm, just before work lets out for the weekend.
Since MFF is coming up this weekend, my body went ahead and caught a cold.
So I'll be there, along with
grapeslie and
showbie, except I'll be loopy as hell, and sporting my new badge > http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12106352/ <.
Wheee.

Art Destroy Concluded
Posted 12 years agoAfter a couple of days of working up the courage to try the Art Destroy idea, I went ahead with it.
The bottom line is that I think I know now what everyone else probably knows already :)
Which is that getting rid of practice stuff is OK, especially if I am not that fond of it, but getting rid of presentation level art I put a lot of effort into is kind of a waste. I can always look over it at a later date to see where I need to improve or what I did right etc.
Although one thing it did make me do was use some of my good paper (also, the big paper, like the 24x36 pad) and stuff I was 'saving' for fear or messing up. That doesn't bother me after this anymore, so that's a good thing.
So I'm glad I did it. Probably wont do it again :)
Anyway, here is some music I've been listening to all week, wanted to share with you all:

Art Destroy Experiment
Posted 12 years agoSo I decided I am too attached to the outcome of my art practice and endeavors and not enough to the process.
What I've decided to do is over the next few weeks create about 6 complete pieces of art, all taking at least two hours, and representing my absolute best efforts.
Then (bare with me here) I'm going to crumple them up and throw them away without having shown them to anyone (Duke included, he's agreed), and regardless of what I think of them. (I will even turn on the compactor in the dumpster, to make sure they are well and truly non-salvageable. I've seen what that thing can do to a bike.)
The idea is to separate the joy of creating art with the extreme bummer of not liking what I ended up with.
So uh... look forward to me not posting over the next few weeks?

No more digital work
Posted 12 years agoSo my day job really grinds my arms, which in turn makes it hard to work digitally when I get home.
For the foreseeable future, I'm only going to be working in traditional mediums like pastel, ink, watercolor, blood of the homeless, acrylics, oil paint etc.
Also, most of what I have been drawing lately is practice or figure drawings. The more I learn about anatomy, the more I realize I don't know crap about it. What amazes me though is anyone can look at a picture and know the anatomy is off, even if they don't know the muscles and bones.
Anywhere, here is some hyperactive music I like, just for you:
Owl City - Bomb Shell Blonde

Owl City - Speed of Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsNQrOxqhd8
Owl City - Im coming after you

And if you think I have poor taste, here is something to vindicate me:
Trifonic - Parks on fire

Some other important gay news stuff besides SCOTUS
Posted 12 years agoThis happened not too long ago, and to me was more noteworthy that then Supreme Court rulings:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl.....rnational.html
Exodus International shut down, and apologized for being anti-scientific, fanatical jerks, basically. Not sure how much news that all got, but it was pretty damn newsworthy to me.
Oh well, back to making God cry.

Disney's super gay dragon
Posted 12 years agoSo in 1941 Disney created a movie called 'The Reluctant Dragon'.
It was a documentary-ish behind the scenes type film at Disney studios that featured several animated segments, the last one of which stars the gayest dragon in the ENTIRE FANDOM.
If you don't believe me, just watch it (about 20 minutes long altogether)

Patience
Posted 12 years agoI'm an impatient person, so I decided to dig up some patience quotes. Here's the ones I like:
Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
-Jean-Jacques Rousseau
For anything worth having one must pay the price; and the price is always work, patience, love, self-sacrifice - no paper currency, no promises to pay, but the gold of real service.
-John Burroughs
Our patience will achieve more than our force.
-Edmund Burke
A man who is a master of patience is master of everything else.
-George Savile
Have patience with all things, But, first of all with yourself.
-Saint Francis de Sales
Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy.
-Saadi
Endurance is nobler than strength, and patience than beauty.
-John Ruskin
And finally, here is a funny one :)
I am patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it.
-Edith Sitwell

I just watched an actual movie starring fursuiters
Posted 13 years agoI just watched Bitter Lake. And I liked it a lot, it was cute. The production was well done, too. It obviously wasn't the first film the crew had done.
It's about 40 minutes, features some really awesome fursuits, and lots of dialogue... It's set in a medieval type fantasy setting, filmed at some place in France. They did a really good job with the sets and lighting and all that, its not amateur. Just a lot of dialogue. Mostly dialogue, and then a sword fight.
Yo, fresh, check it: http://bitterlakethemovie.com/

Fursuit Raffle, check it out:
Posted 13 years ago
Razzy_Lee is holding a raffle to give away a fursuit, so check it! Its going on for ten days after today (Jan 3rd), and you need to have a character reference sheet with a turnaround (front side back) to enter, so make that happen then go enter :)And here is the link: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9602400/
If I do win you can count on seeing a 01 Hurricane suit at MFF 2013 :)
And if I don't win, you can count on seeing my sexy face ;)
Bowling with ARF
Posted 13 years agoI had a great time at the New Years Cosmic Bowling meetup put on by ARF!
Got to see some fursuiters bowling (including one of the guys I went with,
Clockwork_Cavram). Also, saw some fursuiters doing Gangnam Style to the entire song being played over loud speakers. That got some stares, but was totally awesome.
Met some cool people, bowled 2 awful games (63 and 81 I think :) ) At least drinks were only $2.50.
It was my first ARF meet up, so that was cool. I was glad to see a big turn out of people clad in ears and tails, and watching all their craziness. Good crazy. From what I've seen, a group of furries together have more fun than everyone else in the vicinity put together. :)
...Also, on the way in, as we passed a table, a group of people started looking, and one got excited and said, "Ooh, furries! Fun!". That was pretty cool.
Anytime I leave a furry event, I get PCD. So right now I'm being all emo and listening to awesome goth music. Here, this will be fun, you can be emo with me, just put on this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQs3h6SRdIA) and mope around for about 5 minutes. Then get on with what your doing. ^_^

F3 Con, yay!
Posted 13 years agoSo my time at F3 was great, I had a really good time, met lots of new people, attended some panels, and enjoyed the general shenanigans occurring all around. I even hit myself in the face with a giant tennis ball in front of about 6 people, 3 of them fursuiters. See, I can be entertaining without a fursuit on.
Also, some other memorable stuff happened ^_^ ... but you would have to ask me personally about it 0_o.
Duke and I paid for some commissions too from
springdragon and
striker479, and Duke gave out probably 20 homemade bracelets.
There were some minor hiccups in the schedule, but the events were great, and the con staff was cool. Also, the hotel staff was really nice...
We are already planning on going next year :)
Fun side note, after the con ended, we went across the street to Bambu (a Vietnamese place) for dinner before heading out, and
showbie was still wearing his red/black tail. The waitress was interested and asked us a bunch of questions, we ended up telling her all about the con and showed her the 3 minute dance routine
matsiwuff did during the variety show, she seemed pretty entertained :)
Very fun times :)

striker479, and Duke gave out probably 20 homemade bracelets.
The waitress was interested and asked us a bunch of questions, we ended up telling her all about the con and showed her the 3 minute dance routine
matsiwuff did during the variety show, she seemed pretty entertained :)Very fun times :)

This is my current "best song in the world."
It's by a musician who creates songs by remixing movie sound tracks (like voices, sound effects and the film score) all together.
He's an awesome musician , check him out: www.pogomix.net
