making a return!

i haven't even logged in in *checks* A YEAR?!?! (wow, i really do have time blindness) but i still like it here. :)

i don't want to overshare too much, but i hit an extremely low point last year with my mental health and so my art suffered (it has been suffering anyway due to low belief in myself tbh, among lots of other negative things) and i just really strongly haven't wanted to be around. but that's changed! the low point brought a good thing- i'm finally getting some help now. i'm the kind of person who doesn't talk about things (as you might have guessed...) and just hopes they'll get better on their own... that's a bad thought. it doesn't work like that. but i have something to balance out my brain chemicals and all that, thankfully it's working (tried this approach numerous times in the past, none of them worked) and i really feel like making art again, and enjoying it? it's so great. even people irl are telling me i seem better which is nice :D (also this is kinda funny- i got into such a bad way i stopped playing doom... guess who felt well enough to start playing doom again recently!!)

with the new year i started thinking about coming back, i'd hate to just disappear but i was overcome with negative associations- "what's the point of being online if i have nothing to share"... if you've ever had depression you'll know that when you're in the moment it feels like you'll never be happy again and nothing is good. i'm able to have a different approach now, and i actually have enthusiasm like i haven't had in years!

idk when i'll be more active, i'm actually right now saving up for a better scanner, but yeah, i'm not gonna just drop this journal and disappear again, promise :)

I think this may have started from artfight in august, when I got disappointed in myself for not getting as much done as i'd have liked. How silly! To create at all is a positive thing and it's progress. i just need the "no confidence" side of my brain to remember that and get over itself! shakes fist!

i think i can draw again.

i've been working on something just for myself, i'm feeling better. it's taking a few days for a simple (limited color palette) portrait, but it's preferable to take a while to finish anything, than to rush and not make such a good job, right? i'm also experimenting more with a slightly different style, which always makes the creative brain feel better. gives it exercise. it's simplified but still semi-realistic and not cartoony. no art style of mine is cute enough to pass for toony. ;(

and i don't post about this due to even more self-doubt than with my traditional art- but i have been crafting more! in 3 dimensions! i am trying my best to make myself a fursuit! not aiming for greatness, as it's my first one of course, but still hoping it's the best i can do. i think i'll post about my progress here, maybe, as i'm not good with other platforms (i so want to use twitter but something about it intimidates me :/)

i don’t like talking about stuff like this, but i like you guys and don’t mind sharing about things if i feel they’re important :) i hate to disappear for no reason.

due to medical reasons (no, not the ‘rona related at all) i have the shakes pretty bad, and some other issues which have gotten worse. i think it will go away in time, and i can switch to new meds if it continues to be a problem, so that’s something. I’ve always had this thing wrong and only started addressing it recently. it’s nice to be getting help finally, but as the same with many things in life, it’s not all good/not all bad all at once.

i’ve been getting really down about it… but still doing as much as i can, even if it’s not as much as i’d like to be doing, nowhere near. i do have plenty of older works to upload :)
i even went a couple of weeks without playing any Doom, can you imagine! “No drawing and no Doom make 2manyghosts something something.”

i won’t be deterred by my own shitty health, i’m used to it.

Long time no art, been feeling like garbage. Physically (just migraines, not scary just very painful), mentally, artistically. Punching that feeling in the face for real as we speak! 😎 lots of work to be done, lots of optimism to lean towards.

I've been branching out into stuff I don't usually do, like drawing species I don't usually draw... AND... drafting out a fursuit! Very interesting and a steep learning curve for sure. I feel it'll be a WIP forever, but when I have something other than just a foam monstrosity I will show y'all.

Ok so the real new thing I mentioned in the title isn't actually new but whatever: it's discord! it's gotta be better to communicate than notes here. I've had one a while but never used it because I always have smooth brain when it comes to using a new application. I made a "add me pls <3" post somewhere else a long time ago and i could NOT figure out how to use it, neither web or mobile version. I'm gonna try again. Frick around and find out (how to use it, that is)

From pics of today, I already see there's lots of Doomy goodness at this gathering, and there is even a speedrun event dedicated to it on the sunday. That will be awesome. It's specifically retro gaming, and this is nice especially as I could be considered a "retro" being myself...!

I find there is not so much con culture here as in bigger places like America, so this is a big deal. This is a new/"young" event from what I understand so it would be great to do well in the future. The place I currently reside is too, uh, "rural", to have anything interesting going on usually, there is NOTHING here at all except empty fields. When speaking about being a demon from hell, I really mean this place I live is a wasteland!

I'm actually drawing all the time, anytime I have the time and energy that is (...not so often as I'd like :/). I just have to get myself into the right headspace to share things. And I really like it here! other platforms just intimidate me...

oh yeah and i'm putting my prices up on commissions, nothing drastic but yeah. i had a look again at paypal fees in detail and such so it's to help with that partially. (closed right now due to needing catchup time, one i have in progress is embroidery which takes long 0_0)

i was going to write up some info sometime about doing digital art, but i've been doing research about tablets and which app might be best suited to me (it's between procreate and csp right now) and about the pencil compatibility... it's so much information it starts blending into one thing in my mind after a while, holy moly.
anyway, it would be cheaper if someone wanted to commission digart because not only will i need lots of practice with the programs/apps, it also wouldn't take me so long. you don't have to do things like mix paint, so in some ways it's a lot easier and would take less time. also of course you have the cheat code of ctrl+z on digi art, not IRL!!!

and I also gotta share more of the lots of crafts that I do, not just the traditional art. fursuits is not one of them yet, but we'll see! I definitely wanna make my main sona, and maybe some of my fav guys from my fav things...... 👀 I've been cosplaying for close to 10 years, so there are some skills already there. I have lots of ambitions. >:3

To the people waiting on commissions and such, i am without the computer currently! my laptop charger completely stopped working suddenly and of course it has everything i need on there.

i think it might be because there have been some pretty bad storms in my country atm, which is completely unprepared and not used to storms. we had a powercut aka blackout earlier for an hour, very unusual. i hope for no more of that !

So a major hinderance, but thankfully easily fixed- the new charger’s getting here tomorrow. (i keep looking out the window whenever i hear a vehicle hoping it will arrive sooner LOL)

My cause currently is getting a cheap basic computer of my own which I really need, ideally before end of October. Almost all my funds go towards helping to make a move to a new house more habitable- it's, uh, a fixer-upper that's for sure. So very costly as you can imagine, leaving no spare money for anything non essential. A laptop has proved to be an essential, but I consider anything over £20/$30/€25 as a lot of money...

I’ve been messing around with the idea of making some adoptables who are more uncommon species to see as OCs/sonas…..
I have in observation seen the basics of what to consider when making adopts, but can y’all tell me what else I could include?
I’ll do the following: ref sheet, probably some additional arts with them, personality, maybe some story- some background info. And name for those who the name appears to me easily :3 (I do already have some in mind with names)
So yeah! Does that sound right to you more experienced guys?! I’m really intrigued and excited to start.
