low-effort donation doodles!

for any donation of $15 or more to my ko-fi, i'll do a low-effort drawing of your sona or character. click here for examples! i'm actively uploading finished ones as i type this journal, so if you only see two or three, you've caught this journal quite soon after posting; check again in like 10 minutes.

i cannot stress enough: low-effort! these are not professional quality commissions like i've done in the past; these aren't commissions at all. you are making a non-refundable donation and, as a show of thanks, i will do a quick doodle for you. i will not be putting a lot of effort into these, even if you donate $100 (though i would very much appreciate whatever you can spare!); i just plain don't have the energy or time these days, but a no-pressure doodle is doable when i can find the time and spoons.

specifics

- no time frame! no order! i will get to yours when i get to it. i rarely have the energy to even do a quick doodle, these days, but i'll get around to it eventually.
- i pick the medium. right now i'm mostly working in pen, i may also work with marker or pencil; it's whatever i'm feeling at that moment.
- tell me your sona/character's vibes when you link your ref. you can make a specific request but if it sounds too complicated i'll ask you to come up with something else or just let me come up with something.
- comment or note me with your ref & vibes after donating.
- if you give me $666 or more, i'll do an acrylic painting on canvas and (if you pay for shipping) send it to you, though i still do not promise timeliness or quality!

the "sob story"

TL;DR: there isn't really one; i just wanna rebuild my savings and feel less stressed. i do have a new expense (cat medication) though.

i'm not in any particularly dire financial situation. i'm underpaid and have bills and all that jazz, and it's very stressful, but i'm not about to miss rent or run out of food or anything like that (tho we are going to need to pay for medication for our cat, who we recently learned has a hyperactive thyroid).

you don't need to signal boost or anything like that. if you want to tell your friends who might be interested in eventually receiving a cheap low-effort doodle, feel free to tell em, but don't feel like you gotta make a journal or anything like that.

i'm not up and leaving just yet… but i kinda wish i was, i guess? i'm just thinking about how lacking FA is… some things are great, like the folder system, but there's still no content filtering and browsing from the front page is just pointless more than half the time cause of all the ads and stuff.

right now, i think the best option for furry artists who don't wanna be on inkbunny might actually be cohost. it doesn't have the gallery functionality sadly and its search needs work but it has content filtering and the mods seem pretty reasonable. once they figure out how to make their search support multiple terms at once i think it'll be great, but in the meantime i'm reposting old stuff i still like on there.

sometimes i think about making a furry art gallery site of my own but i dunno, that's a lot of work and responsibility and requires skills i don't have so i would need to work with other people to accomplish it and etc etc. social platforms aren't great for art. the gallery format is best. but it's 2023 and this place still doesn't even have a blacklist function, and the priorities around here feel like they are completely out of whack. i'm not saying i'm leaving, but i already barely use it cause the front page is a mess of clone YCHs, commission ads, stream ads, and things i'd rather not see. i see maybe one or two things that i'm at all interested in per month.

i dunno. not to be a drama queen, but needless to say i'm discontent with this place

i dunno how many of you folks read journals, but in case anyone does, here's what's up lately.

i haven't really been able to draw for almost a year now. i'll figure it out eventually, but right now i just can't do it.

but i've got the creative urge all the same. i'm even working on a project right now, with my established characters! but here's the thing: it's just writing. there's no visuals. i guess this is my pivot to text?

anyway, it's coming along nicely and i'm pretty happy with it. once it's closer to being done i'll post the first chapter or two on here as teasers (the full thing will be on itch in epub format) but for now i'm keeping it fairly hush hush (tho i've let out a few followers-only hints on mastodon if you're a freak like me).

all i'll say here is that it centers around my opossum girl jess!

maybe one day down the line when i'm drawing again i'll do some illustrations for it, but for now it's just going to be text!
