Kitty's kitty update
General | Posted 12 years agoTook Briar in for her follow-up today. The vet said she's healed up very nicely and she's good to go. And noore cone of shame ^_^
She seems quite pleased by that last bit :P

General | Posted 12 years agoSo today was not a fun day for me, but probably even less of one for my poor little kitten Briar.
Yesterday and this morning we noticed she was behaving very oddly. Sleeping even more than usual, laying in secluded places away from us, moving very slowly and cautiously.
I thought it was just a tummy ache or some such but when it didn't improve at all over night we got really worried and took her to the vet's just to be sure.
Turned out she had a uterus infection (which is apparently a common possibility with non-spade animals fyi) and she had to have surgery.
After bawling my eyes out all day, scared horribly about A) her being ok and B) us being able to pay for said surgery, I finally got word from the vet that the surgery went off great. She's still there tonight though, they wanted to make sure she was able to rehydrate enough to come home.
I'll bring her home tomorrow morning, she'll have a cone for a while until she heals enough.
The other downside to this is that I can't go to RMFC this year with Wuff and friends because someone has to be home with Briar to take care of her and give her her medication.
He's still probably going to the con, and I really hope he has fun there. If I had any way to take care of her, I'd still make it, but, que sera, as they say.

New Year's things

Just thinking on things today. It's a new year and with that I can't help but look back at last year and think on it some.
Honestly, I'd have to say last year was the biggest year for me, as far as changes and "milestones".
It was our 5 YEAR anniversary <3 (time flies)
I finally got my paws on the fursuit I've wanted for a very long time.
Wuff got a new truck.
We bought and moved into our very own house (I'm still kinda in disbelief there >_< )
I bought a new car.
And, as my last act of the year, I finally came out to my extended family.
The only year that even comes close to last, was when I moved out here in the first place. But even that.
All that's happened in the last 5 years. From falling paws over ears in love with my wonderful wuff, to moving out here to be with him, all the steps leading to where we are now. There were stumbles, there were problems along the way.... but I wouldn't trade a single moment of it for anything in the universe.
There's only one thing left to make things truly complete.... but I have to wait for the state/country to pull its collective head from its figurative ass first.
To everyone who's bothered to read this. I wish you all the very best for 2013 and beyond. Believe me when I say, you never really know where the future may take you.

All in all, it was an amazing con. Friends, fur, art, the works. I didn't quite suit as much as I intended but had so much fun while I was. Gonna need moar practice at glowstringing in it though :-P

Just booked a room and registered.
It's been far too long since we went to a con I think we could both use the vacation anyways, besides having a chance to just be a silly furry for a weekend again.
Right now we're planning to drive up on that wednesday (8th) and back home on sunday (12th).

As of today I am a homeowner. Though we won't be moving till next monday.
We're both really excited, if our dog had a clue what was coming she would be excited too, seeing as she'll be going from a leash in a tiny back yard to running free in a huge one ^_^
I think I've got most of the important stuff switched to the new address already. Still a few small things to do.
Not only are we going to have to do the whole move mostly on our own (with a little help loading heavy stuff and a bit of help hopefully unloading). But then we have to order some new furniture for the bedroom, buy a lawn mower and weed eater.
Later in June we'll probably look for a nice living room set as well.
Anyways, those of you that want the new address note me :P

New house, new home

Went through a lot of places, made some offers, had all but given up hope on the one we liked most.... Then we were told it was ours if we wanted.
After what seems like an eternity of forms and emails and phone calls, I'm finally about ready to close the deal within the week.
The only thing that sucks is that the previous owner was given until the 18th to be out, and seems to be using all of the available time (despite having had a year to be ready).
So, at the moment, it looks like we will be moving into our new home on the 19th/20th. After which we'll have to get some furniture and get things unpacked.
The following weekend is a big two-day RC boat race that the mate has to attend (and I'll probably be filming anyways). So we won't be able to have our party that weekend.
Right now it's looking like we'll be having the housewarming party on the first weekend of June. Should be a mix of furs/nonfurs gays/strait etc.

Yep, looks like another move is on the horizon.
This one's a bit different though.
About four years ago I moved out here to Utah to be with my mate slashydarkwulf.
The first place we were in was tiny and cramped with horrible roommates.
We were only there for a few months while I found a job then we moved to a much nicer place with some actual friends. That lasted about a year and a half before the friends wanted to move on, go back to school, etc. We were going to stay on, but the complex's policies meant no pets and a good friend that wanted to move in couldn't.
Enter location #3. A decentish sized duplex near downtown. A yard and driveway and so forth. Nice enough, but the building is old. As time has gone by there have been more and more annoyances with the place, many stemming from the landlord that just doesn't give a damn unless it could mean less money for him somehow.
Which brings me to this upcoming move. To a house of our own =^-^=
Yup, this tiger is buying a house to live with his wuff in.
My parents are helping me immensely with the down payment. I'm already pre-approved for more than any of the places we've been looking at online. And the realtor I was referred to is working on setting up viewings as early as tonight.
Depending on the house we pick, we could be moving in as early as a month from now!
I'll be honest, I'm about as much nervous as I am excited. This is a huge deal really. A big step in my life, and my life with Wuffles.
I'm not looking forward to the actual moving bit (soooo much crap >_>), but this should be the last time for a long time.

This was my first time at RF, and while it had it's hiccups and problems here and there, it was one of the funnest cons I've been to.
We wound up getting in to Sea-tac Thursday afternoon after 17 hours on the road (about 3 of which were stops to try and get a bit of rest). Stayed in a nice double-king suite with
chadpanther, 
barisaxophone77, and 
Omega_422. Unfortunately, this meant that we were way too tired to go to the dance. Which is one of my regrets from the con, as that one apparently had the best music.
Friday we got into the dealer's den right as it opened and quickly jumped on the chance for a few arts. I grabbed a digital badge slot, dark got a traditional badge done by
Kacey. We also managed to get in early on 
Tojo-the-thief 's sketches and got a smexy pinup of the wuff (nsfw) . Lastly, for the day anyways, we managed to elbow and claw our way through the throng of fluff at 
Tanidareal 's table and get her to do a super cute, clean sketch of us.
The rest of friday was spent just wandering and being fuzzy, having fun, hanging out with friends, etc.
Saturday was pretty much more of the same, dark, barisaxophone77 and chadpanther all went suiting in the parade while I attempted (and apparently failed) to take photo's of the proceedings. Saw tani's amazing schnolf suit (one of the few pics that wasn't blurry too). Then apparently my wuff and mister fin (baria) decided we needed to have a 3-person sketch done... and me being the feline I wound up being the... um... meat in the sandwich as it were (very, nsfw). That one was also done by miss Tojo, who was quite hesitant, since she swears she can neither do multi-party things or mammals very well (to which I say, pffft, wish I were half that good >_>)
Sunday was more relaxed, didn't do a whole lot as the con started winding down. Watched out our patio door as the hot-tub turned into suds, which ruined our plan to go for a soak actually. Found out that the hotel staff decided to be douches to us that night, shut down the dead-dog dance, kicked Tani out of the bar, etc.
Monday was the drive home. Not too bad as we were more rested and spent more of the drive in daylight. Got home around 1 AM Tuesday morning, and now I'm here at work again. Back in the "real" world. Tanj but I wish I could be furry all the time.
(We'll be scanning those pics when we have a chance, so I apologize about the crappy quality at the moment)

Time for a slight change
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, lately I've noticed more and more how much out of shape I've become.
As such, I finally decided enough is enough. Yesterday after work I went to check out one of the chain gyms that we have a couple of here, the only one with a lap pool, and decided to just go for it.
I'm a total noob at gyms, closest I've ever been to using one is messing about in hotel exercise rooms. So I'll probably be starting slowly until I have a chance to figure out what I need to do. As such, if anyone wants to lend advice I'd be happy to listen.
And no, I'm not going to be posting 'status' pictures. I really don't see a reason for that to be honest.

General | Posted 15 years agoSo, today Stephen Colbert 'testified' before the house subcommittee on immigration.
Naturally his delivery was less than serious, but that's not really the funniest part about it. The reactions are. All the Republicans and stuffy journalists are saying how it's a huge waste of time and money, etc.
But I ask this: how many other times did the immigration committee get noticed? I bet there are a thousands of people that didn't even know of it that are now more interested.
Not only that, but if you listen between the jokes, he is actually supporting the goals of the committee, he even mentions an idea to improve things.

The Mosque debate
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, lately everyone seems to be going up in arms over this new issue without looking into it much.
All people hear is "mosque at/near Ground Zero" and start flipping out.
Whether you, the reader, are for or against or whatever, I don't care. But personally I think people in general need to calm the hell down about it.
This isn't some sadistic thing to 'rub salt in the wound' like some are trying to act like it is. Quite the opposite really. Nevermind the fact that the attacks and all this bullshit is being done by an extreme minority subset of the Muslim community. Nevermind that most religions, at some point in their existence, have had similar subsets.
This mosque is just a portion of a planned public Community Center which is meant to reach out to those near ground zero. Hell adjacent to the mosque is a freaking memorial.
The reaction of the media and a large portion of this country is enough to make me sick. Seriously, not everything someone of a different faith than the majority does is meant to be an insult/attack/slight.

Watched Planet 51 last night with the wuff, good movie... and something about their feet >_>

Anyways, besides that been the usual uneventful life. My parents and brother are going to be coming out here for this christmas, so of course my brother's first idea is going snowboarding. Not that I can blame him, plus he's bringing gear along for me to try out.
Also, I've been compiling a list of parts for my car. Turns out that I've got about a $12k wishlist at the moment. Not to mention I'd love to upgrade the stereo system and interior, as well as new rims. My most desired items right now are the clutch/flywheel (most of which will be paid with the class action settlement), turbo/exhaust/gauges and coilovers.
Last thing, Trillian (the all-in-one IM program I use) finally has Astra (4.2) out which is hella nice compared to the old ones. Not many skins for it yet but that'll change I'm sure.
