Furry Fiesta 2011
Posted 14 years agoWell as promised I'll recap what happened at Furry Fiesta this weekend. Me and my hubby 
ddraglaisdragon left out at after we both got off work Thursday arriving late in Dallas we made a quick stop at El Fenix for din din and stayed the night at 
rekkie. Giving Sydney (Rekkie and Sairo's sweet German Sheppy) many loveins 
dook came by for a visit and a little fursuit repair that Ddraglais was happy to help him make. Catching up on missed episodes of Glee and Raising Hope. Friday we got ourselves checked in and picked up our conbadges.
I was very eager to try on my Acroth partial suit for the first time. Opting to go out first without the sports coat (didn't want to get too over heated) I have to say going out suiting for the first time was a mixture of being a thrill and quite nervous.
syntheticjewel did a great job on the mask and arms only place I felt heat and sweat was just around the cheeks and the material on the arms surprisingly kept my arms cooler feeling. Overall I got quite alot of awesome comments. Picked up a awesome looking shiny red harness for Ddraglais at 
Lagarto's
After making a quick run to Walmart me and Ddraglais went to Knockouts to get fancied up. Ddraglasis treating himself special with a mini facial x3 apparently they where filming a telemundo commercial or spot there and Ddraglais was the hunky star in the hot towel wrap XD. Grabbing a quick bite to eat at Hooters. After getting lost in Arlington on the look out for getting the ingredients to Ddraglais's magic libations (thank you Spike for pointing us in the right direction) we picked up our roommate
unshackledfenrir.
Saturday was spent wandering through out the con meeting new folks and old friends. I loved how the art auction was set up this year though it was a bit hard writing a bid on those perforated boards with out your pin poking through. May be next year they could have them on a clip board or denser paperstock for the bid sheets(missed the scritch and botch) Also dig the con suite and the corral thought it was very open and airy though was bummed out to learn someone broke in some time late Saturday and lifted many of the con's soda-pop. It was fun to suit in the parade I do hope if anyone took photos might they send me a pic please ^.=.^ I'd like to know what you thought and if any seasoned suiter had any recommendations or pointers. I jumped in at the charity auction in the ball room snagging me a 1st run copy of Watership Down I don't feel I paid to much it all went to a good cause to feed the tigers at CARE. I enjoyed the FNL variety show I knew it was a little rushed but over all quite enjoyable to see their takes on the 70's shows of Dallas and All in the Family. Really hope they can come back next year. After the show me and Cral hooked up with Rekkie and Sairo for dinner at TGI Fridays for a very tasty dinner outside. Coming back Carl and I sat in with Rekkie as they did there Knotcast podcast. Which was very funny (cocks on the eraser board was quite a distraction) but did touch on a few important subjects.
After a long evening I did decided to crash early, leaving Ddraglais and fen to burn up the dance floors I was a little miffed to hear they only played about an hours worth of 70's beats before diving back into trance music, nothing against though in suit it can be hard to keep up the pace, but if the theme is going to be disco they could of gone into early versions of techno.
Sunday we had to checkout at noon which we all nearly slept to so in a frantic rush and having left my bottle of Axe shower gel and Carl his swim suit hanging in the shower we dropped off the last bit of out things at Rekkie's for the evening. I have to say I was feeling the PCD's knowing that something so fun was coming to a close. Went to the art auction winning 3 pieces two being birthday gifts for dook and 
khyle the other a print that mom wanted. I introduced 
arcnova and his friend Eeep to Ddraglais spending quite the good times together. Carl picked up some awesome badges from Docmarcus and Dook, me I grabbed one from Dook, Rukis, I'll be getting copies and posting them up soon. Later in the evening we joined dook, Khyle, Arcnova, 
sablegryphon, 
Mitti, and Padder to have dinner at the magic time machine. Our waiter was Mr. Incredible X3 and we had our photo taken by Knives Chou one was completely photoshopped and messed up x3.
Monday was just a day to relax spent and awesome time with Rekkie and Sairo and their friends zipping around Oaklawn grabbing lunch and Hunky's and snooping around the shops in the gaybrohood and around the North Dallas Mall. Before leaving out back home.
Overall the con was awesome and continues to grow bigger and bigger lots of fun memories looking forward to next year.

Posted 14 years agoI know for most out there everyone feels the pinch from hard times. A good friend and artist is going through and especially hard rough patch in his life. 
jaleo has been out of a job for almost a year. A lot of his living he makes off his artwork, but taking on anywhere from 20 to 30 commissions each month will wear anybody down.
Jaleo has now needed to sale some of his original artwork to make ends meet. He's needing 500-600€ and he is selling 60 original artwork pieces in ten batches with some pieces being direct buys and others selling in auction style. Each original starting around 13 dollars.
So I ask anyone if they would like to buy one of Jaleo's original pieces please do. Jaleo is a great guy and I hate to see friends get hit hard during these tough times.

3: How long will you be there?
Friday through Monday - I'll be heading down Thursday after I get off work
4: What do you plan to do there?
I plan to fursuit for the first time in my Acroth partial, he'll be the dragon wearing the suit and tie. I'll be hanging with friend and getting a few commissions done as well as checking out some of the art auction and panels
5: Will you be fursuiting?
Yes this will be my first time doing it.
6: Will you be at the dances/raves?
probably not. I'm not a very good dancer less its a slow dance
7: Will you be drinking?
no I might have a few for dinner but my preferred drink is tea or coffee
8: Who do you plan to hang out with?
My Dallas friends and Ddraglais and anyone interested in hanging out with me.
9: Will you be traveling to Walmart frequently during the con?
Maybe if someone I know might need something

11: Can I hug/cuddle you?

Depends don't feel upset if I decline. Again I'm not much a social drinker so unless its tea coffee or water I might have to pass.

I'm not and artist so I can't draw you well least you like stick figures. I on occasion I would buy a friends lunch or dinner but don't demand or expect that I do.

Posted 15 years agoWell Christmas is done and its back to work once again. I was happy all of the family was able to come down for Christmas. I got what I wanted new dress shirts and socks for work, K-cup coffees and a 25 dollar gift card to red lobster x3 hehe I treated my BF Ddraglais to a dinner there with me on Monday.
Yesterday I decided to trade in my black 2006 Mazda 5 soccer mom like mini van to a new sportier Maroon 2011 Nissan Juke.

1. Negative attitudes - This goes beyond than just the once in awhile having a bad day. Nothing makes it harder in a friendship or relationship then when trying to cheer up someone constantly mopey or is angry all the time. Life's short what ever has you up in a tizzy or down in the dumps won't last forever, take a few deep breaths count back and put it behind you. Go to your friends and talk to them don't overwhelm them all at once and they can help you through.
2. Bad personal hygiene - This should be a given and doesn't just involve personal hygiene but also how you keep your house, again if you can't respect yourself and how you live keep yourself and your home clean it makes it hard to stay around you. It doesn't involve just masking the grime with corpus amounts of perfume or cologne or scented candles covering up the mountain of garbage. Bathe, wash your hair, brush your teeth just use a dash of fragrance wear clean clothes and underwear, keep your house and living space tidy your good to go.
3. Poor communication skills - I myself am guilty of this, especially missing cues if somethings the matter. Its hard to know whats going on in another persons head not everyone can either type out how they feel or notice it through body language. You'll have to take a step up and speak out, don't be afraid to speak your mind or let your partner or friend know if something is the matter. Oppositely if your partner or friend opens up to you give them your full attention put down your cell phone or step away from the pc and games for the time being and then be quite and listen without interrupting. If they have invested there friendship or relationship with you isn't a few moments of their time too much to offer.

1. Negative attitudes - This goes beyond than just the once in awhile having a bad day. Nothing makes it harder in a friendship or relationship then when trying to cheer up someone constantly mopey or is angry all the time. Life's short what ever has you up in a tizzy or down in the dumps won't last forever, take a few deep breaths count back and put it behind you. Go to your friends and talk to them don't overwhelm them all at once and they can help you through.
2. Bad personal hygiene - This should be a given and doesn't just involve personal hygiene but also how you keep your house, again if you can't respect yourself and how you live keep yourself and your home clean it makes it hard to stay around you. It doesn't involve just masking the grime with corpus amounts of perfume or cologne or scented candles covering up the mountain of garbage. Bathe, wash your hair, brush your teeth just use a dash of fragrance wear clean clothes and underwear, keep your house and living space tidy your good to go.
3. Poor communication skills - I myself am guilty of this, especially missing cues if somethings the matter. Its hard to know whats going on in another persons head not everyone can either type out how they feel or notice it through body language. You'll have to take a step up and speak out, don't be afraid to speak your mind or let your partner or friend know if something is the matter. Oppositely if your partner or friend opens up to you give them your full attention put down your cell phone or step away from the pc and games for the time being and then be quite and listen without interrupting. If they have invested there friendship or relationship with you isn't a few moments of their time too much to offer.

1. Ddraglais aka Carl - What can I say he's my partner, my sparkle dragon, my boo. He is a wonderful and delightful person. Truly we could be considered opposites in some aspects he's the party boy, wild child, guru. Me I'm kinda of a reclusive, rule following fellow, moderate conservative. But I do love him ^.=.^
2. My family - Should be obvious, I can't say we haven't had our ups and downs but I'm happy to have such a awesome fam.
3. Dook and Khyle - I was very happy to strike up a excellent friendship with Dook he's been a sweet friend and I've always enjoyed our outings together be it the movies, theater or paying a British lady to argue with you. We need to go out and do it more often my friend. 1. Although I don't regret it, the job I have pays very well, I wish I had gone and started it sooner like in my early twenties. At the time I started mortuary school I was 30.
2. Also there are times I wish I had stayed in Dallas. The only reason I moved back was I was in alot of debt, my school loan that I had thought and was led to believe was part of a government loan program was actually a private personal balloon loan, and I had to start paying on it immediately when it was due which was 4 months before graduation. There was no way I could get the loan differed and little I could do. I hadn't planned for that and I was with rent, bills a car payment and now the school loan my 10 dollar and hour student job at the funeral home there just wasn't going to cut it, at the time I only met a few friends i so I had no choice but to move back.
3. I won't name names and no one recent on in the fandom this mainly happened 5 years ago, I wish I either hadn't helped personally or financially. After hearing some hard luck story naturally I felt I thought I could help them out and help them get the rent paid or pay for a few of there bills. It was only after I heard from a friend they just used it for games and booze. After confronting them they had nothing to say nor did they offer to pay me back. This isn't the first time people have taken advantage of me nor will it keep me from helping others but it does make me take pause when deciding if its best to help out.
4. being too forgiving there has been a couple of times I wish I wouldn't have forgiven a person from hurting me so much. But I still would end up doing the same, I hate keeping a grudge.
5. I wish I stuck to just having one credit card, its so easy to let something like that spiral out of control so easily and how debt can really add up quickly. I had at the most 4 cards all nearly maxed out mostly during the time I was at school just to get by and cover utilities and thankfully after getting with a counseling service was able to get it back under control and I'm happy to say its been all paid off.
6. Wish I kept my pick up truck. Though I would of traded int in by now it would of been nice to have my ford explorer sport when I lived up there in Dallas. granted the gas mileage wasn't bad but the VW bug I was driving at the time did save me a bit of coin at the pumps. As of now though I'm pretty much done on pickups nothing against them but I'm of the type if your not using it to haul stuff, or work out of then why get it.

1. would be family, I think its fairly obvious who doesn't worry or think about ones family. Mostly for me its my sisters, my mom and dad and my grandparents. Its not all doom and gloom I do think of them from time to time through out a day and hope and wish everything is going well.

1. Tell me that you love me. Its a simple thing to say or even do like giving them a hug or shoulder rub, making them breakfast in bed or slipping a note in there lunch bag. It really does make someones day to hear those words or see that you care.
2. Be honest and open. everyone isn't perfect being secretive, lying and closed off just tells your partner that they don't trust you.
3. Have a sense of humor, nobody likes a sour puss learn to laugh take and give a joke. It doesn't have to be serious all the time.
4. Communicate, tell me how you feel, whats going on. Nobody can read minds.
5. Self-respect, Its hard to get to know someone who is either constantly bitter with the world or feels no matter what they do they will amount to anything. Ok I missed a day blah working a 14 hour day does that :p so where are we 9 things about myself.
1. I have to say going older has made me open up more to friends and people, when I was growing up I wasn't much the party goer and was pretty weary warming up to people. I know that opening up to folks has had its down falls but its rewarding to of made some lasting friendships.
2. Even though my characters a dragon, I am afraid of heights. Strangely though flying in a airplane doesn't effect me only if I looked over a railing of a high rise balcony. So yes if you've seen hugging the walls furthermost from a railing or leery crossing a bridge that's why.
3. I enjoy writing much more than drawing but I'm slightly more cagey putting it out for all to see. mainly because I tend to find myself constantly revising it over and over.
4. I met Ddraglais via a mutual friend, Rekkie, and he finally twisted my arm telling me you need to see this guy. I first met Ddraglais about 2 to 3 years ago, heh Rekkie told me about him but I didn't know what he looked like nor knew his real name. I bumped into Ddraglais at his work place but was to timid to ask him out and Ddraglais said I looked like a deer in the headlights. Ddraglais said that he scared me off the first time. But I felt it did work out for the better.
5. I don't have much of a temper, yes it can go off eventually, mostly its due to the job I'm in hehe its just counter productive throwing a fit.
6. I've had my heart broken once. I won't go into details but I did get angry for a few moments but afterward I felt there was no use to stay that way.
7. Before I started my career as a funeral director I worked with my family building, servicing and maintaining swimming pools. My dad told me I switched from digging one hole for another lol.
8. Though I don't mind drinking a glass of wine or enjoying a mixed drink or beer. I'm not very fond of drinking alcohol especially in excess. Having a alcoholic farther berating you and your family for the last 16 years gives you a bit of insight. Thankfully though he is trying his best now to recover.
9. I am a bit of a flirt yes, I like giving out compliments and receiving them too when its appropriate.

Hey there hope everyone who celebrates it has had a pretty good Thanksgiving. Ours went kind of the same as every year eat dinner early, fall asleep from too much turkey, watch football then eat some more hehe. But it did go well, I was happy to get the day off and not have to worry about getting called in for work.
I didn't do any Christmas shopping Friday I never caught on to going shopping at 4 in the morning just to save a few bucks on a item. I'm enjoying greatly the time I get to spend with Ddraglais, I wish though he could find a job where they treat him more decently. But I know he'll stay with it till he finds a better one. This weekend we spent it here at the house watching episodes of Glee and played on the Ps3 and went out to eat at Applebee's.
Work here has been ok, there's been a few hiccups I just wished James, another funeral director that sits next to me, wouldn't promise something that he didn't know if it could be done. Three times its come back to bite him in the rear. I'm still annoyed at Dustin, an assistant, for being disrespectful, his cursing, lazy and again thinking its alright to lean on someones casket. But overall I'm pleased with how things are going and the good comments I've received.
I thought it would be good to do this 10 day meme, I rarely seem to have time or much of anything going on worthy to write about. so here it goes.

Hey there hope everyone who celebrates it has had a pretty good Thanksgiving. Ours went kind of the same as every year eat dinner early, fall asleep from too much turkey, watch football then eat some more hehe. But it did go well, I was happy to get the day off and not have to worry about getting called in for work.
I didn't do any Christmas shopping Friday I never caught on to going shopping at 4 in the morning just to save a few bucks on a item. I'm enjoying greatly the time I get to spend with Ddraglais, I wish though he could find a job where they treat him more decently. But I know he'll stay with it till he finds a better one. This weekend we spent it here at the house watching episodes of Glee and played on the Ps3 and went out to eat at Applebee's.
Work here has been ok, there's been a few hiccups I just wished James, another funeral director that sits next to me, wouldn't promise something that he didn't know if it could be done. Three times its come back to bite him in the rear. I'm still annoyed at Dustin, an assistant, for being disrespectful, his cursing, lazy and again thinking its alright to lean on someones casket. But overall I'm pleased with how things are going and the good comments I've received.
I thought it would be good to do this 10 day meme, I rarely seem to have time or much of anything going on worthy to write about. so here it goes.

Posted 15 years agoHope everyone who celebrates it has had a good thanksgiving and will enjoy their extended weekends, travel home safely and best wishes to your families and loved ones. For those that have to work have a great day tomorrow try not to get rushed by the gobs of bargain shoppers.

Posted 15 years agoNothing much to update with, work has been slow which I guess is a good thing with the work I do. But everything is going along pretty good, got most of my accounts receivable back down to zero. Looking forward to spend the weekend with ddraglaisdragon and get caught up with work around the house. Plus a heck of alot of ironing to do :p
