Oblivion after skyrim?
General | Posted 13 years agoBeen getting a lot of hours into Skyrim the past couple days (and finished readin the Hobbit a couple hours ago for the first time. Maybe it's a fantasy kick? Anyway...), and I've been wondering if Oblivion's worth picking up.
I realize the graphics are old, but hey, you're talkin to someone that plays Minecraft. Graphics don't bug me. Gameplay is what matters. XD Just sayin, I've had a coworker give me crap about how he won't touch games with outdated graphics. I'm not so picky.
Gameplay any good in there? Skyrim's my first venture into the Elder Scrolls games. All I know is I've been getting into the lore and everything, reading all the books I can find in game. xD Spend just as much time reading as I do fighting, I'd say.

Dean's List
General | Posted 13 years agoGot a surprise last semester in the mail from school. Ended up with a letter saying I was in the Dean's List for the 3.7 gpa I had in the fall semester.
I just got another this time for the winter semester. Barely got by with a 3.5 this time. @_@ I'm living under a rock to do it.
Wish me luck for the next semester; I have trig. I never went beyond "basic basic" math in middle school and High School.

Cell phone cancellation/bill
General | Posted 13 years agoI canceled my phone around the 21st or 22nd of the month, but the bill just came in for the cycle starting on the 20th of this month till the 20th of next month... I'm wondering if I really have to pay that, and since I canceled my service, do I really have any way to pay it? Does my info still exist in the system? Bleh. Gotta go to AT&T and ask, I guess.
What makes you happy?
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm just a little curious, considering everyone has a different definition of happiness. It's more individual, isn't it? :P What may make one person happy may not have the same effect on someone else.
EX: WoW made my best friend happy back when he was 14/15. It wouldn't do the same for me. Granted, video games, health, safety and security, what have you, there's different things that ya could say make ya happy.
I know I just used a video game as an example, and I dunno, video games in general used to do it for me when I was a child/teen, but lately I've been trying to redefine all that on a personal level and avoid having items and possessions = happy. I can totally elaborate on that in a bit and see what people think about it.

Outlook
General | Posted 13 years agoThe family's situation here hasn't been too great in the past three years since we got evicted. Nothing's really changed much except my aunt got cancer a year after we moved, and I've gone to college, and that ball's been rolling.
Individually I've been job hunting and I'm still passing with about a 3.5 GPA in school. My academic future kind of scares the shit out of me. I don't wanna fail or go down the wrong path, only to realize I need to find another interest and get a different degree. I kinda feel like there's a huge weight on my shoulders since no one's graduated from college in my family, or even attempted to go, at that. Jobwise I'm the only one working right now, too. Again, that fact frustrates and frightens me. If I lose my job, then what?
I'm quite frightened of the future in general, to be honest. I asked my grandma "What do you have planned in terms of any long term goals?" and she just sort of muttered "Well...um..." That's all I got. Aside from getting a BA, I've really got no fucking idea beyond that. I should probably be looking into where I can use that degree now so I'm not fucking clueless when I graduate college.
I guess I need to step back and take a breath or two, maybe lighten up and start taking things a day at a time and be in the here and now instead of off 4/5 years from now.

Anyone got con advice?
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm not, nor am I considering going to a con anytime soon, but I do feel like getting info ahead of time would be a good idea.
I've heard from plenty of folks to start out with something small instead of just jumping straight into anything like AC, and that makes sense. At the moment that makes me a little frustrated since I'd have trouble even making it to the closest con to me, and I feel like I dunno anyone well enough in the area to justify going to a con, now that I've had at least six months to think about that. Granted, furry's just a silly little hobby and going to a con isn't a requirement, I've lacked a social life post High School (not that it was much of one while I was there, but shit, it beat what I have now), and cons are a social event, no?
I've also heard that say, knowing someone ahead of time and planning with them beforehand is a good idea. My problem here is I don't think I actually know the locals well enough to justify going to a con. Without knowing some locals, I'd probably just aimlessly wander a con and end up not having much fun whatsoever. There's always a shot of meeting some folks by just walking up to em and chatting, but I'm willing to bet that can piss some people off.

Communication
General | Posted 13 years agoOkay, I love communication, whether it's compliment, critique, or what have you. Getting input is the best way for me to learn, whether it's from work, school, with friends, whichever. Being able to talk to someone about anything, and have em respond is the best fucking feeling to me. Not. Even. Kidding. Post High School, I realize how much I took conversations (though all of those were face to face back then) for granted.
Specifically, if I make a mistake anywhere in life and someone notices it, it's nice to get input about it and learn from it. It doesn't help me much if I get silence since communication is meant to be a two way road, nor a significantly delayed response. Reasons are I can't take anything in from silence, and can't make as well of an adjustment to my life/task/what have you from a delayed response.
The speed in which I get input on something generally influences how much better I learn. Tell me something within a few hours of my mistake, and shit, I'll instantly get right on improving myself I'll have a better clue where I fucked up since the memory's fresh. Tell me within a week, month, or shit, in one case that sticks out at me, I was told of someone's feelings about how I handled something over a year after the event, even though I can recall wanting some kind of input about it right after I had the feeling I done goofed. I can't really have the same impact over a delayed response since the memory of the event isn't fresh in my head anymore.
Pretty much I just wish more folks could use their side of the road more frequently and on top of that, not hesitate to tell me things.

Oh the irony (xbox, diablo 3)
General | Posted 13 years agoI picked up that 360 a week ago, and last night Diablo 3 came out. :P Now everyone's moving over to their PCs. The universe has a strange sense of timing, no?
360 get
General | Posted 13 years agoSummer vacation's started, and I've been saving like crazy for the past year without really buying much aside from food/gas/the necessities, so with a little persuasion from my best friend, I've gotten myself to take the plunge and get something a little, er, different.
If anyone out there's interested, I've got my biatch ass a 360 over the past couple days. I'll get back to ya with a username since I'm planning on changing the one I've got (assuming I can do that). Made it three years ago when I was roommates with the friend that's persuaded me to get this, and I really feel like changing it to something closer to "Adders."

Social Media
General | Posted 13 years agoAsked something like this on formspring, so why not make a journal?
How does social media make you feel in general?
I've noticed in my case as much as I ought not let things bother me, I see plenty of statuses about local on goings that I wasn't informed about, or invited to, only to find out about it after the fact. In other cases it's like, I saw one of my classmates go on a road trip for a few months about a year after we graduated High School (did the roadtrip in 2009), and I thought to myself "Damn, I wish I could do that. Can't afford it, though."

college questionare
General | Posted 13 years agoI dunno, I'm a little curious right now. Given my situation, I couldn't jump off to college right away like my peers. I had to find a job and save myself some money first. Figured I'll pop a little question-are if anyone wants to do it.
1-did you go straight to college out of high school?
2-did you know exactly where you wanted to go to college?
3-did you know exactly what you were going to major in?
4-did you switch majors?
5-did you have any activities you were involved in?
6-what differences did you see between college students and high school students?
7-did you quit or pause school for any one reason or another?
Add to this if you want. I can't really think of much right now. :P

Halloween
General | Posted 13 years agoBeen thinking about what I wanna do for Halloween. Yeah, I realize it's April. XD
Long journal short, stormtrooper uniform. I realize I'd have to wear something like that a lot to make up for paying for it, but ey, I'd be cool with that. I'd wear it every Halloween for the next twenty years if I have to. :P
Doubt I'd take the plunge on that any time soon, or even this Halloween, but eh, I'd like to do that eventually. I'd rather own that over a fursuit, to be honest. >.>

Took the plunge into Skyrim (for pc) this week
General | Posted 13 years agoI must say I bought it at the worst time. Last week of class. Wanna play it, but I still have two big assignments to do before the semester's over. @_@
At any rate I thought I wouldn't like it, but I was wrong. It's kind of addicting, though I haven't been able to sit myself down and play any game at all for hours on end ever since I was a teenager.
The big problem I have is I wanna keep looking up youtube videos for tutorials on how to be efficient with different aspects of the game, like lockpicking and alchemy, battle, so on and so on. On top of that, I feel it's a little overwhelming in that names of people and placed haven't really sunk in too well, and that's another reason why I just wanna keep replaying certain parts over until I know what the heck is going on. I've never been the brightest tool in the shed. :p Names don't stick with me well. All I'm gonna say is the Journal has been my best friend for keeping track of where I need to go, and so on. XD

This is what happens when drugs take over your life
General | Posted 13 years agohttp://www.clickondetroit.com/news/.....w/-/index.html
Mitch Young was a friend of mine up until I was about 20. He decided to get in to drugs around that time (he'd just gotten out of high school), and all of us close to him tried to persuade him to get the fuck away from that shit. He pushed us away and made friends with folks like Tucker Cipriano, and now he's landed himself in this fucking mess.
His mom kicked him out his house months ago because she couldn't put up with that shit any longer, and he'd been drifting around with folks like Tucker, getting high on K-2. He and Tucker ran out of money on Monday morning, so Mitch drove em to Tucker's place, high off their ass, and Tucker ended up killing his adopted father and critically hurting his mother and brother while attempting to rob the place for money.
I miss the Mitch I knew that wouldn't ever touch drugs. To start paraphrasing my friend Zach, who also knew him: "I miss the book smart high school freshman Mitch. I miss the awkward 9 year old Mitch. I don't like druggy Mitch, and want the old Mitchell back." He made a choice, and now he has to face that consequence.
All of us that know him are in a huge shock right now. I find this very surreal, like I'm watching "The Basketball Diaries" unfold right here. I can't imagine how his Ex must feel right now.

Friends forgive, right?
General | Posted 13 years agoDeleted that journal because "blah, emotions."
Basically I have a couple folks that seem to be holding a grudge against me for a statement I made that I was hoping would be taken as a joke. It wasn't taken as a joke. I haven't really heard from em since, even though I've tried to apologize for it. The whole thing is, I'm not perfect. I can't read minds and have to make mistakes some times in order to know what'll piss people off.
I've been through a shit load of drama between my best friend and I, and we've always made up for our wrongdoings to each other, so I dunno. I guess sure, some people will hate ya once you make a wrong move, and there's nothing that can be done about it, but it's just not something I'm used to. I've known these folks since High School, so it hurts a bit.

Might be moving my butt to Ypsi/ Ann Arbor
General | Posted 13 years agoI may be moving soon. It's in talks, anyway. I've hit a point where I've lived in Canton for three years, and don't actually know anybody here, and it's starting to stress me the fuck out not having any friends I can go hang out with or anything like that. There's way more to this story but I think I'll spare the sob story for now unless anyone's interested in hearing that.
Anyway, a few friends of mine out there have said (multiple times) that they'll gladly take me in should I decide to move in. Words really can't describe how it makes me feel to hear that.

Getting to know me

0. We all know what we call you, what about the folks at home? Whats your name?
Adam
1. How tall are you?
6 feet
2. Natural hair color? (if you can remember it)
dark brown
3. What about eye color?
Brown/Hazel
4. What orientation are you?
Pretty much gay.
5. Are you single, taken, or undecided?
Single with no plans to change that any time soon. Being in the closet doesn't help. :P Building up a relationship to the 'friends' level has been difficult for me too, let alone considering someone could like me beyond that and vice versa. :P
6. What do you do in your spare time?
Ideally I'd like to be out and about spending time with friends. Since I don't have the means to do that, I'm mostly playing video games and reading novels.
7. What's your job?
I work at McDonald's. I realize that's far from exciting.
8. What's one thing you like about yourself?
I like that I keep a good track record with work and school attendance
9. Alright, now what about something you dislike about yourself?
I suck at communicating, and it's lost me quite a few friends because they interpreted whatever information I gave them in a way that I didn't expect them to.
Another would be I worry too much. In some cases I end up worrying over the most insignificant shit. I've been trying to tone that down a bit, but not much luck there.
10. What's some things your friends noticed about you when they first met you?
I'm sure most would say I'm way too quiet. I dunno though; what folks would have thought when I was 8 is probably different from 15, and 15's different from 22, so on and so forth.
11. Of what faith/religion are you(if any at all?)
I don't really follow that too well since my family was never really big on that.
12. Do you drink?
I haven't drank since January. I don't intend to get back into it. Fuck that shit.
13. Do you smoke?
I went through a short phase of it. Little less than a year. Didn't enjoy it.
14. What are your fears?
Having things stolen from me, having someone I trust do something untrustful, not fitting in with a group/being shunned or ignored. I try to make friends here and there, and when I run into folks aren't willing to add to their circle of friends, I do get kinda afraid of that (bring ignored/not fitting in) when I try to build a new friendship, if that makes any sense.
15. What are your dreams/goals?
To get above the poverty line. Hell, I just wanna be able to stop seeing the fridge empty halfway through the month like it's been for the past ten years. :P
16 .Ever had any crushes/ex's in the past/present?
Nope
17. Who's your best bud?
Hokay, right now he's in Ypsi, and I miss the fuck out of him. I've known him for 14 or 15 years, and he's 20, so that's like a good chunk of his life right thar. All I know is he's had my back through the roughest shit I've had to deal with, and likewise I've had his back.
18. Alright, you got the cravin' for munchies, what'cha reachin' for?
I don't really reach for anything. I just cook some eggs or bacon. :P
19. Favorite drink?
I'm a sucker for O.J.
20. Favorite color?
Shit, I can't choose between red, blue, or green. @_@ I love those three. Green I suppose.
21. If you had any super power, what would it be?
Don't think I'd take any. :P I think they're kinda gimmicky.
22. Favorite movie?
It's out in theaters right now getting the re-release treatment. Titanic! 's my favorite movie, but I've seen it so much already that I kinda walked out the theater the other day when I saw it. >.>
23. Least favorite food?
I'm not too picky with food. :P
24. Quick! You have only one meal left before you die!!! What is it?
Sushi. <3 Om nom nom nom,.
25. What do you drive/wish you drove?
To be totally honest, I hate when people get picky about their car brand and aren't satisfied that they have something to get around in. I wish I drove something that runs, and it totally street legal, and affordable. That's all that I require out of a car.
26. Most disliked bug?
centipedes and spiders. x.x
27. Most hated pet peeves?
It's supposed to be "[Insert person's name here] and I.", not "Me and [Insert person's name here]." XD
28. Dislike in life?
I don't like when people can't give me a straight forward answer. Can't hang out with me for whatever reason? Give me a 'no'. Don't beat around the bush and get my hopes up. If you're going to do something else instead, don't leave me hanging since I can't exactly read minds. I don't mind hearing no. In fact, I wish more people were willing to give me that answer when they need to.
29. Most annoying?
It bugs the shit out of me when someone can't see how they act when it gets pointed out to them, or they try to justify having a shitty personality, or they amplify their personality when called out for how immature or unreasonable they're acting.
30. Most disliked TV show?
Talk shows bore me, and when done like Steve Wilkos or Jerry Springer, they piss me off, and shows like Jersey Shore make me wanna punch things. O_o
dariomouse0. We all know what we call you, what about the folks at home? Whats your name?

Cliques
General | Posted 13 years agoI dunno, it's just been on my mind a lot lately. Did a bit of observing, and it's hit me like a bag of bricks that cliques aren't just a High School thing.
Thing is, I've always been the loser at the bottom of the food chain and never really fit in anywhere, at least as far as public school went. Things haven't changed for me much in the four years since I've graduated. To put cut to the chase and put it lightly, it doesn't feel good to not fit in. 's human nature to want to belong somewhere. Furry sometimes doesn't cut it enough, you know?

Ya know what? I've learned something today.
General | Posted 14 years agoShit happens. Gotta keep rolling with it, though, because some day something awesome will happen among the occasional shit that ya might run into.

My best friend found out I'm into furry. :p
General | Posted 14 years agoI guess I showed up on twitter under the "add friends from facebook" feature. Not so sure if that's the exact name of the feature, but yeah. :p
At first I was like 'o.o' and then I remembered he plays Team Fortress 2 on furry servers, and he was pretty amused when he played on em. He put it like "The sprays people paste on the wall are dragon balls instead of /b/ and 4chan related stuff. I think it's funny. Dragon balls in your face!"
He learned a bit about the fandom from that, so I guess a year later when he found me on twitter and followed me, he didn't really give a fuck either way. xD Chatted about it the other day during the joint birthday parties that were thrown at his apartment earlier this week. Probably didn't expect to find me there, but eh, he didn't flip or anything. I'm sure he's just amused. xD
For all I know, he could be into it too, shoot. I really dunno, but he seems to have a bear theme going on with twitter and steam, though I think that's just because of a nickname he's gotten from a couple folks.

The future
General | Posted 14 years agoThe future of my family really scares the fuck out of me. A lot. My aunt, mom, and grandma are all unemployed. Don't know if my aunt's ever had a job, mom hasn't had one in a decade, and grandma hasn't had one in about six years or so. I don't have any problem with my job, but it's stressful as hell to be the single person in a house that's actively working to make money. The rest of em make disability and that's all they get. >.<
I get scared as fuck about school, wondering if it'll ever pay off in the long run, given my family's dirt poor status, and wondering if I'll even get approved for any loans down the road. They'll probably look through family records and tell me to piss off if they see how my grandma's handled her loans.
If/when I do finish school, I worry about moving out. I would love to do that, but I'd be leaving them practically on their own with just their small income, so right now I feel like that'd be a selfish thing for me to do. We got evicted awhile back and we're living with a friend of ours that retired from his work, so it's not all bad, I suppose. Still, if anything happens to him, shit, where'll that put us?

More things I don't get
General | Posted 14 years agoIf you're an artist and you make your living off this site or another, it would make sense to not treat your customers like shit or else you can kiss your income goodbye. Take any job, alright? I work at McDonalds. If I went ahead and treated a customer shitty, they'd leave. There's plenty of other fast food places around, and they sure as fuck wouldn't come back to my location if I acted shitty toward em. Less customers=less business=less hours=smaller paychecks, in my case. There's plenty of other artists out there, and your customers will leave for them instead if ya choose to act up.
First trick or treaters showed up
