Oklacon Show
General | Posted 12 years agoWe are getting to that point again. I can't believe it has already been a year now. Wrenches have been thrown gears have been jammed. As you all know, I went through a breakup with my previous mate, we lost a bassist, then gained a new bassist, Derrick and I both have children now. It has been a year of craziness, and we bounced up. We have a set with a handful of new material, and this show does not have a theme song, the show is the theme. We are calling it the Random Encounter Show. In other words we are not posting any of the set list before the show. We think you all will enjoy the show, and we welcome all to come and see us play. Also we are going to be working on the new EP after the show, so anyone going to Wild Nights keep your eyes out we will be releasing it then.
Keep rocking Dead Furs.

General | Posted 12 years agoSo, my brother Boxcars, played with us during our last practice. The kid is sixteen and rocks his heart out. I was unsure due to his age before he tried out, but we gave him a chance and he did really good.
Boxcars is my brother, so it isn't going to be hard for my mom to let me be his guardian at conventions. I am very open to my mom about the furry fandom, so she knows what he's getting into.
It's official, though: A Dozen Dead Furs is available for shows once again. That didn't take long. :D
Keep rocking, dead furries!

Where we stand on lyrics, need a chorus, COME ON GUYS!!!
General | Posted 12 years agoWe have the starting of damn good song. We shall say that this...
Verse 1
A billion dreams, a hundred thoughts(me)
Swirling around and around(Angela Patten on Facebook)
cross my mind like the sands of time(Angie Kay on Facebook)
hit the ground running, before I drown
Dont stop to turn around.(Angela Patten on Facebook)
A million things that I have lost(Hammerwolf on Furaffinity)
Okay guys like how it started lets see a chorus. I need more than three people doing this though, so if everyone were to throw their ideas into the thinking machine that would be awesome.

Ghost Town Cowboys
General | Posted 12 years agoThe EP is coming along nicely, but the one thing that it was missing was a title track. A song titled Ghost Town Cowboys.
Well, Theron does something every once in a while that reaffirms that is a useful member of the band. This time he has written a totally bad ass song called with three simple notes: G, F, and Eb.
Anywho, I'm sure you all will love the final two tracks of the GTC EP. They won't be posted until late on saturday, but you watchers will be pleased as fuck!
Rock on,

We're still going!
General | Posted 12 years agoWe just finished recording My Burning Rose and All My Dreams. We'll be posting them sometime in the wee hours of the morning. Another song that will be done soon will be brand new and called One Way Street. It is an all new song from A Dozen Dead Furs. We'll hopefully be able to finish another halfway new song called Rock and Roll Takeover where the pre-mastered music has been heard here before, but the fully complete song has never been heard before. The two new songs are sure to delight and we are aiming to have them done and posted on Friday (tomorrow).

FIRST AND FOREMOST
The Set List
1. Still Counting
2. My Burning Rose
3. Animal I Have Become
4. Aerials
5. WISHS
6. King Of The Road - (Possibly, we may switch this out with a different oldie.)
7. Face To The Floor
8. Creep
9. All My Dreams - (We're actually going to play it this time!)
10. Burden In My Hand
11. Brain Stewicide
We were going to try and fit a themed song into the set, but it's a little late. We may squeeze something in, but these songs are definitely being played.
POSSIBLY - Rock music writing panel with
and
For the 2 or maybe as many as 4 people who would care about the art of writing and not just playing music. This would be held just after the concert, and would be a preface to getting really drunk partying our asses off.
ADDF -
- That one guy who's responsible for the vocals and usually the mind behind the lyrics.
- The dragon that consistently shows everyone up. Irritating as it sounds, it's actually really nice to have around.
- The guitarist and... yellist? While contributing a little bit of vocals and playing the guitar, Amsu Jackal is almost guaranteed to disappear hours before the show without a trace, to return minutes before the show half baked and wasted, and rock out harder than all of us combined.
- The llama who writes the music, stresses too much, and gets on everyone's nerves. The guy who sits in the back on a drum kit and wishes he could be playing up front with the rest of the guys. but maybe they like it better that way?
LET US KNOW IF YOU'RE GOING TO COME SEE US! :))

Let's get this shit going!
General | Posted 13 years agoWe're back on! Theron is back and we're amped for Wild Nights!
So, we may make a surprise appearance
General | Posted 13 years agoWe're going to try to set up a duo with Jackal on guitar and Derrick on bass (Pachua is uninterested) and playing a couple of songs at Furry Fiesta.
We'll have a video of Derrick playing the drums, and we're going to do WISHS and Still Counting backed with a video drummer. A three-man band with two people. I wasn't sure if this was a good idea, or not.
So far, on Facebook, I am having a considerably tough time convincing people that it will be really neat, but try to actually envision it furries! Now, picture it in your mind and give me your honest opinions.
Keep in mind, this is not what we WANT to do, it's pretty much what we CAN do because we don't have the people. Is it a good idea, or should we just dump this crap? Honest opinions only. I am not the type to get butthurt over this kind of thing.
Thanks,
Derrick

The Band Name
General | Posted 13 years agoWe wanted to ask you all what you thought of changing the band name (Yes, again).
It's not that we don't like ADDF, it's just that so many changes have happened in the last few days.
For instance,
Due to disagreements about the band's purpose, our singer,
, has left the band.
So, we have a different singer, and we're adding a keyboard. Our sound is about to get a lot heavier. Old songs are going to be transformed from a dated alternative rock sound, to a seriously metal hardcore grind.
Different sound, less people, new vocalist... should we keep the band name? Or should we come up with something else for the new sound? Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Derrick Lesters
If anyone cares as to why the singer left,
Because the three of us chose to only play furry conventions, he believed that we were on the road to nowhere. And he may be right, but I don't care about fame, fortune, or getting signed or any of that bullshit. Playing music, for me, is about entertaining the audience. For me to have an enjoyable experience playing music, there has to be an audience.
If we could play at furry conventions with crowds of 100+, why put ourselves through the bar scene with 20 people that are not paying attention? I'm in it for the fun. I am a strictly furry musician who will play only at cons because I know it is a way to avoid empty shows.

Writing and Recording
General | Posted 13 years agoNo, all of our songs have not disappeared, they are just in scraps.
We will be finishing up two long overdue original songs and re-recording three other original songs with minor rewrites as well as recording a few covers possibly.
It's going to be a busy day in the ADDF recording garage.
Rock on,
Derrick Lesters (Drummer)

Bad for us. Good for you! and thanks a bunch!
General | Posted 13 years agoSo, I (the drummer and sound guy for A Dozen Dead Furs, Maggots Under Matted Fur, and Llamatronic) have decided to re-record every single song we have. Meaning WISHS (Yes. Again.), All My Dreams, and My Burning Rose. We also have two songs that I am going to push into getting finished and completely re-recorded from the ground up.
Mark my words, by Wild Nights in April, we will have an EP worth 5 tracks completed and ready to rock. I'll be commissioning an artist close to home for album art, and Theron (Vocalist) is collaborating with his girlfriend to commission some interior art. I will probably throw some art in there.
You (the loyal watcher) will hear ADDF in completely mastered high definition. All tracks will be available for download, but you'll want a CD. There will be secret tracks with some ADDF antics as well as some HD video of us.
I'm not assuming that anyone cares about seeing us hang out and do funny stuff, but it will be there for people to enjoy if they have the time. If anyone else has any ideas of some stuff they'd like to see come with the CD, it'd be greatly appreciated if you commented it here.
Thank you all for listening to us, most of you have helped me greatly in music production. Without your help and input, my musical endeavors would cost much more money in a studio.
Rock on, FA!
Derrick Lesters the hard rock llama.
If you have any questions about how we do anything, related to ADDF or not, we'll gladly answer your questions! We love to converse with the Dead Furs! ;)

Band Practice Today
General | Posted 13 years agoIt's going to be interesting to see how it all works out with at least four new songs that none of us know in the Workshop today. It's going to be Still Counting (Volbeat), Space Lord (Monster Magnet), Awake (Godsmack), Animals (Nickelback), and which ever random power metal song the Jackal picks today. Inconsistency is constant with him. ;)
So, we've decided to take our modest set of just under 30min and cut it down to add more 'new' to the experience for the people that saw us at Oklacon. For those of you who were there, we'd like to know which songs you liked the most so we know what to keep and what to toss out. We may all have been playing shows for years and years, but we're still a new band emerging from Vaults, so we need your input.
We're cutting Brain Stewicide (which was a Last Resort and Brain Stew mashup), as well as King of The Road and Ariels. It's better to ask us what songs we're definitely keeping (which is Animal I Have Become, Face To The Floor, Burden In My Hand, and the original songs.)
We're still in the early stages of deliberating what songs are going on the set, but we do know that this set will be at least 15min longer than at Oklacon.
ALSO!!! After much deliberation and discussion, we have decided to keep the old band name. I was really campaigning to the guys that this was a furry band and trying to make it less furry was like trying to pretend to be in the closet. There was talk that we wouldn't be taken seriously because we're a furry band, but I'm not sure that would be true. Besides, for us, this band is not to make money or get famous. We just like to play music and like people to listen to our music. Fame comes with a growing audience, but we're not complaining about that side effect. :)
Keep rockin' y'all, if you want to PM us, we're not ass holes, we'll answer any questions you have! :))

Sorry everyone For things have been setting us back
General | Posted 13 years agoBetween Pachua and Derrick doing there big move, and Luthien and I going through a breakup(Not up for discussion, and don't bother Luthy about it either), and me being arrested(For reasons that I don't want to discuss or make public, and no I am not going to prison) we haven't been able to post anything. I have decided to post a journal to say we are still a band, and we are still alive and kickin' (Cause we are going to all die with our rock boots on.) We are working on the Wild Nights set list(Taking the Oklacon Set list, Remove x amount of songs, keeping originals, adding two knew originals). I am so looking forward and we are going to be going back to band practice in less than two weeks. I am hoping that I, the howler, and Derrick, the hardrock llama, shall be doing a revised version of All My Dreams and finally adding lyrics to Hopefully I Will Be Dead Soon. Keep your eyes out Dead Furs, and keep on rocking.

The video of Oklacon
General | Posted 13 years agoOklacon Concert
General | Posted 13 years agoWe went to Oklacon and put on a hell of a concert. It was a blast.
It started out bad, but got really good. On Thursday, we were setting up for rehearsal and Theron got into a fight with a cactus and lost. Hardcore. He ended up with a billion needles in his hand, and one big on going into the middle of his thumb and the other one coming out of the other side! It was crazy, but unfortunately no cameras were rolling or available for pictures. :(
We lost Pachua and couldn't find him for about 4 hours and it turned out that a miscommunication kept him from meeting us at the right place and time.
We played with Sub Level 03 doing our sound checks and engineering which was fucking awesome. Lenny and John are really awesome guys and helped us a lot. We really appreciated them letting us use their equipment for the show.
Our set lasted about 29 minutes concluded by an epic 2 minute drum solo to wrap up.
One major hangup, our photographer got really wasted and didn't film us, so unfortunately, there is no "official" video of this event, you'll just have to youtube it and see if you can find us.
This show wouldn't have been possible without everyone's support. Thanks to the 77 watchers we have helping us shape our recordings and pushing us to play for y' all.
Shout out to Miss Smitten Kitten (Our number 1 fan) for coming out to see us. It was really cool to meet someone that knew all of our songs. She made us feel really important.
Awesome note: Jackal got to sign his first booby autograph which I am sure he enjoyed a lot. :)
Thanks everyone,
Derrick Lesters (Drummer)
NEWS: There is talk among us that the band name may not change after all. We're going to mull it over, but the general consensus was that A Dozen Dead Furs was, in fact, cool. We believed that it was lame because we were hearing a lot of reviews that people weren't digging the name.
Rock ON!
