New Year, new art?
Posted 9 months agoI hope this New Year finds you well and that many good things will come your way on your journeys.
This past year has had it's ups and downs for all of us, I am no exception. Furry and the relevant art I create while being a part of this fandom is a cherished escape for me from the day to day grind. Looking at my gallery, it makes me a little sad that I haven't posted anything in over a year. Have I given up on making art? Have I lost my creative spark? That answer is a resounding NO. In fact, I actually make a point to draw atleast something almost daily, even if it's just small concepts and doodles in my sketchbooks. I am a perfectionist and that can be just as big of a hindrance as it is helpful. If something isn't to a state that I consider "finished" or to my own self imposed standards of quality, I tend to hide it away and not share it. I have quite literally a dozen sketchbooks filled with doodles and drawings I've done over the past few years, of which I can count on one hand the few that I have shown any of them to. I say all this for a couple reasons. Firstly, to inform any of you that are still sticking around that I am still here. Secondly is that it is the preface to a question I want to ask you guys.
Would you like to see some of my unpolished and even down-right ugly sketches from the innards of my sketchbooks? Would this be of interest to you, despite them not being polished and colored? Do you want to see how my ideas start before they are eventually presented to you as a finished fully rendered painting?
Now, with that out of the way, I also want to say that part of the reason for lack of recent uploads is I have been doing lots of studies to improve and reinforce my art skills. It will be an ever ongoing endeavour for me, but I have been focusing on practice more-so than finishing any personal projects.
I have a few personal pieces in the works now and am working on them as time allows. Hopefully one of them will be ready to post in a couple weeks. I also have some more ambitious projects in the works but are still in the concept stages and not fleshed out enough yet to embark on them in earnest. When they get off the ground I will let you guys know.
So, in conclusion, yes, I will be posting art again in 2025. For those of you still following me, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. For all of my more recent followers whom have started following me despite me not having posted anything in a long while, thank you too for doing so and trusting that I will show new art in the future.
Happy New Year to you all, and please let me know your thoughts and leave your comments here, especially regarding my question to you above.

FWA, here I come! Say hi!
Posted 2 years agoHey guys. Just wanted to let you all know I will finally be attending FWA again this year, the first time in 8 years! I will be fursuiting and maybe doing some art. I don't have much in the way of plans, just kinda go with the flow and enjoy myself and connecting with a few good friends and hopefully making some new ones.
Speaking of which, if any of you who are watching me (thanks btw for being here, I know there is no rhyme or reason as to when I actually post art) are going to be attending as well, I would love to meet you! Really, don't be shy! I have missed opportunities in the past connecting with other furs because my own shyness got in the way. I ended up connecting with them later online when I actually got up the courage to reach out to them and a few have actually become my best friends, but the initial opportunity was missed. My point is, cons should be a place to make fun memories and new friends. Don't let an opportunity pass you by. If you recognize it, seize it! If you want to meet me in person, contact me, let me know. I really would like to connect with you guys.
Anyways, stay cool fuzz butts. I look forward to hearing from you guys and that it may lead to us being able to meet at the con.

Name change and general update
Posted 3 years agoHi guys, kinda dusty in the journal area here, it's been 5 years since I wrote anything, sheesh!
Anywho, I will be changing my username to Rhansid, as it is high time that I get things updated and am retiring my old name Adelulf which hasn't had much meaning to me for many years now. That being said, as of the new year, I will be signing my art as Rhansid from here on out, formerly Adelulf. I want to start accepting digital commissions very soon and I am actively working on getting things updated and getting my work out there and my exposure to finally do what I am passionate about, and that is making art.
If any of you following me on here are so inclined and like my art thus far, please feel free to help get word out about my stuff. I will be branching out to various social media platforms, something I haven't done in the past, but if you like my stuff, tell your friends! Word of mouth is still the best form of advertising after all, lol!
Thanks to each and every one of you that fav my work and/or follow me, it means more than you know. Now that I am doing digital art again, updates will be more frequent, especially as I gain confidence in my skills and abilities. No promises, but I hope to at least post something weekly now, as opposed to just a few times a year in the past. Stay tuned, more hyena mischief is headed your way!

3 Resin Hyena Figurine slots available!
Posted 11 years agoHey all, been a long time coming, but I finally have some figurines available for sale. They are of my spotted hyena character with a studded collar and leash. She stands about 7 inches tall (13 cm) to the tips of her ears. These will be custom painted to your color specifications. Below is the cost and what information I need from you if you want a figure.
Figure: Fully assembled and painted - $100.00
Shipping: Anywhere in the continental USA - $5.00
. Outside of the USA, please note me so I can figure shipping cost.
I will need a reference or a detailed description of what colors you would like your figurine. Also include what colors you want the leash and studded collar. The leash will either be black or brown natural leather, and if you wish, I can paint the smooth side of the leash to a color of your choosing. (Notice I added black dots to the brown leather on my painted example to look like leopard print.)
Send me a note if you want one and I will put your name in an available slot once you have paid at least half. Once the figure is completed, I will require the rest of the payment before mailing it out. I am only accepting PayPal at this time.
If you have any questions just send me a note and I will get back to you.
Below are links to my gallery of a finished painted figurine I have done. (This particular one is not for sale, but yours can be painted just like it if you so wish.)

Heard the news. So depressed.
Posted 11 years agoI dunno guys, I just had to say something. I heard earlier today that James Hardiman had passed away and I have been pretty emotional on the inside about it. I am not one to usually post or say anything about stuff like this, but this news has really struck me hard. I never talked to him or got to meet him in person, but I feel like I knew him at least a little through his characters and artwork. He has been a big inspiration to me, and will continue to be. He had a way of making you care about his characters, be it naughty antics or silly humor. In my opinion Jim was great at conveying emotion and at sequential story telling. These are just my thoughts and opinions of course, but being someone I truly looked up to, his loss is very painful for me, and many others as well. I just wanted to say something, even if no one else reads it. I will miss you James. Thank you for all the laughs you have given me through your art and your witty comments you have made as you so unselfishly gave and interacted with your fans. Rest in peace sir, rest in peace.
Coming very Soon!
Posted 11 years agoOk guys, I finally have the materials materials to start making copies of my sculptures. I had a set back with the resin because the lovely USPS beat the crap out of my box to the extent that the caps to the bottles busted off and saturated the box. Anywho, I have the supplier replacing the product, so I should be able to start casting by next week. In the mean time, I am making the silicone molds to have them ready when I get more resin. I plan on making original artwork for each figure and including a free print with each kit. Let me know what you think of this so far. As for the prices, I have some listed below. These are not set in stone, so are subject to change, but for now this is what I'm thinking.
Kit (includes free print)- $60
Figure assembled and painted (includes free print)- $100 (This will be colors and patterns of your choosing)
Any additional details and accessories I will be willing to make/sculpt, but price will very on a case by case basis. Extras will start at $10 and go up depending on quantities/intricacies of details.

What would you like to see sculpted?
Posted 11 years agoSo, since I have had quite a few folks ask me if I take commissions for or sell my sculptures I figured I'd post a journal to clarify some things and get feed back from anyone even remotely interested.
At this time, I do not take commissions for sculptures.
I am, however, working on producing resin copies of my figures to sell. I don't have a set price or release date yet, but I assure you I will make it known when they are for sale.
I want you to give me suggestions on what you would like to see as far as my figures go. This includes anything from species, genders, themes, poses, accessories, etc. If you have ideas, I want to hear them, period. You never know, it just might become a reality, but won't know unless you tell me. Please, speak up, don't be shy. You guys are awesome, and I really do care what you think. Ok, ready? GO!!

How I paint my art Pt. 2
Posted 12 years agoOkay, so your character is shaded and highlighted. With the base color still selected, use a fur brush set to an appropriate size to start "brushing" the fur in the direction it flows where you have different colors touching, using the smudge tool. For those who may nt know, fur brushes usually look like an group of dots that act like a comb as you paint with it. Don't over do this step, you are just breaking up the color demarcation at this point. Now, at this time is when I usually deselect the color select that is on the base color. Now, again with a fur brush and the smudge tool selected, carefully go around the outside edges of your character create strands and tufts of fur that would be protruding. I said carefully, because it is too easy to get over zealous and your character will end up looking like the have stuck their finger in an electrical outlet. It is a very good idea to have references to build a good working knowledge of how hair flows on different parts of the body, both animals and human, since anthros are a combination of both. Ok, so your char should now look slightly fluffy, and a little jagged. This is the basis for more layers that will later at detail an volume to your fur. You may also notice that after brushing your subject, some of the fur now protrudes beyond the shaded and highlighted areas. That's ok! Now going to the shade and light layers, brush the shadows and highlights the same way you did the base colors, again brushing in the direction the hair grows. Now, I usually create a few different layers for individual things as I go along and start working on those at this point. These include such things as eyes, nose, teeth, mouth, claws, naughty bits, and a layer called details. Each thing gets its own layer for reasons mentioned earlier. I won't get into all the ways of painting every little item I just listed, as those can get lengthy in themselves. Instead I am going to focus mostly on the rest of the fur. I will say, however, that I use the details layer more or less as a secondary shading layer. This is where I will use the airbrush tool set at varying sizes and opacities to define things like creases, eyelids, space between toes or fingers, you get the idea I think. So, I do something similar with the fur. I will create a layer I call fur detail. Using a fur brush, I lay in lots of little lines and squiggles of variations of the base colors. To get the colors, I first take the eye dropper tool and select one of the base colors from the flats layer. Then I open up the color map and choose a slightly lighter or darker color than the base. This keeps the color within a similar range and helps avoid harsh contrasts. Subtlety is the key here. You want to see a noticeable difference in color, but not so much that it looks as if you are adding an entirly new color to your chars coat. Select two to three different colors for each base color to stroke in over them. Use the pen tool to get into tight spaces and areas that don't require a stroke as big as the fur brush makes. Remember to brush with the direction the fur grows, and to keep the strokes irregular and different lengths for best results. Make sure you have switched back to the fur detail layer before you start painting in these tufts and strands. Now, that step was rather tedious and can take a while, but patience will certainly reward you. You subject mow appears to be covered in scratches in varying colors of the base color, right? If you answered yes, then please continue. If you answered no, then go back over the steps and try again until you can answer yes, then you may also continue. So, ready for some magic? Take your fur brush, and using the smudge tool, brush those scratches just like you have with the other steps. The little lines should blur and stretch, creating the appearance of individual hairs, more or less. Less is more, so don't go over it too much, all you are doing here is blending and eliminating most of the jagged-ness to the hairs. On another layer, name it furshadow or something you feel is fitting. On this layer we will do just that, at shadow and depth to your fur. References really help here to see how the fur gathers in tufts on the actual species which is the basis for your char. Using the airbrush tool, start painting in shadows that that would be created by tufts of hair blocking light as it hits your subject. I can't stress enough how important references are for this so that you can decide what shapes an where those shadows will lay. So, once that is done, take the fur brush and smudge into the edges of the shadows to add further detail. You can do the same thing with highlights if there are any particular areas that could use some extra attention. And that's basically it. I go back and tweak the light and shade layers a little if necessary so everything works together nicely. Any questions?

How I paint my art (particullarly fur)
Posted 12 years agoAlright, I've had a few people ask me how I paint fur on my characters, so without having a real video tutorial available, I will do my best to explain it here. Also, at the end of this you can find a link to my Livestream page where I have videos showing the start to finish of most of my artwork starting with "Office Antics" and my newer works after that. Be forwarded, they are unedited and several hours long each. Onward to the good stuff.
So, let's pretend the pose and background is already roughly sketched out. From here, I go over the sketch of my character with an inking tool to cleanup the outlines and details. Now, for me, what I call a piece of line art is a still a sketch to others due to the lines not always being completely "jagged-less" if you will. You can see this in my gallery, as I almost always post my line art before I move on to the painting. The reason for this is because I don't use the line art at all in my finished painting. GASP!! Instead, I use it more like a stencil. On a separate layer under the line art, I pick a mid-range of the lightest color. Using a brush with pressure settings off, I lay in a solid color for the whole char. Once the color is down, I zoom in and fill in any missed areas or erase color as necessary so that all is contained within the lines. The line art I usually set to a very low opacity so that I can see through it and paint to the outside edges of the lines, basically making sure the area under the lines get painted. I now choose the color select tool and select the color I just laid down. Next I choose a mid-range of my darker color/colors and paint those in as a solid color. You will see that having the base color selected allows you to just paint the alternate colors on your char and mitigate cleanup except for adjusting the specific color patterns of the fur. This first color layer I usually name "flats". It is very important to keep major additions and changes to the painting on separate layers, and name the accordingly so you know what is on which layer as you progress. This makes correcting errors alot easier later on as you tweaks things here and there. Create a new layer above your flats layer called "shade". This is where we will lay in the basic shadows. Keep in mind the direction and intensity of your light source the whole time you are painting. This is important to achieving a convincing picture and ensures everything looks right. For the shading, I usually select black or a nearly black warm or cool color depending on the overall lighting that will be in the finished picture. The I airbrush the shadows accordingly. Keep in mind that I still have base color selected, therefore the shadows should only appear on your character. Now it will probably look pretty stark an ugly at this point, but don't worry! Adjust the opacity of your shade layer to a percentage that looks good to your eye. It will usually be pretty low, maybe around 30% or so. That's just a rough estimate, but the main thing is to play with the slider until it looks about right to your eye. You can always adjust this more later. Next make another layer called "light". This is where you will lay in your basic highlights. Choose white and just as you did with the shadows, airbrush only the areas getting the most direct light. I set the airbrush opacity fairly low for the highlights so I can gradually buildup the intensity of the areas receiving the most light and smoothly blend it in to the immediate areas of those. Now, it should once again be very stark and almost ugly to look at, but now is where you adjust the opacity of this layer to tone things down.TADA!! You should now have a very basic colored character that appears three dimensional due to the depth you have added with the shading and lighting. Phew! That's alot of writing to do on this little phone of mine. I will be back very soon to elaborate further on the next steps. In the mean time, feel free to check out my streaming vids and leave me comments as to how I am doing so far and any questions if I have not been clear enough on something thus far. If this "tutorial" of sorts generates enough interest, I will go into how I compose and paint my backgrounds after I am done explaining painting characters.

Real life getting in the way
Posted 12 years agoHello to all my fans. I just wanted to post a quick blurb as to why I have not been very active lately with new submissions, streaming, etc. The title pretty much says it all, and some of my closer friends on here know what troubles I am over coming at this time. I have been working on some pencil drawings, but not much digital art currently. If I can get access to a working scanner, I will try to scan them and post them up on my page for all to enjoy. Anyways, hopefully things will calm down for me in the next couple months and I can get back to my life and art as usual. Take care everyone. I do atleast stop in to check out FA on a more or less daily basis, so I'm still around.

Been abscent due to being hospitalized
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone, especially my watchers and those who have favorite me thus far. I have been in and out of the hospital since about 14 February, and am currently recovering from surgery. Long story short, my Crohn's disease wasn't behaving itself and decided to make an ulcer in my small intestine which then burst and perforated it. I then had to have surgery to remove about 12 inches of the affected intestine. I have been recovering for about 4 weeks now, and have had little time nor much motivation to do any art lately. I had planned on posting my first comic about the same time I had first gotten sick back in February, as I only had (and still have) a few more panels to complete before the whole first story is finished. I was living by myself where I had recently moved to due to getting a new job, and because of the surgery and those circumstances, I came back home to family to recover, since I had no one to assistance me otherwise. I brought my computer and bamboo tablet, but when I went to use the tablet, I realized I had forgotten to grab my digital pen to go with it! I tried going to Best Buy and Office Depot, and they only carried itty bitty styluses for Ipads, boo; not to mention that the people at Best Buy are in the category just under useless as they hadn't a clue as to what I was talking about when I asked if they had a "stylus-pen for a Wacom Bamboo tablet." So, I am waiting until I go back to my other place of dwelling this coming weekend before I will be able to draw anymore. If any of you have been awaiting new work from me and even anticipating my upcoming comic, I apologize. Regular drawing shall resume in about a week, and posting of the finished work will follow in the weeks after. Until then, feel free to send me messages or invites just to chat, I feel rather lonely on here at times, lol. Do take care everyone, and hope to hear from you soon.

Upcoming Comic
Posted 13 years agoHello everyone, I just submitted my first character concept sketch for a comic I am currently starting. The comic will be set in the 1950's and will be about a couple rival hotrod gangs and the mischief they get into with each other and by themselves. I plan for it to be a mixture of different things that should especially appeal to gearheads like myself. There will be races and run-ins with the 'law', and of course lots of sex! It will be a story though, and not just an excuse to draw porn, though I will have plenty of sexy details when those situations do arise. The one gang, the one Ralph, my first character, belongs to will be a bunch of guys that are basically 'poor'. That is they come from families without a lot of money and perhaps not the best of family environments. They love to talk cars and women, and put their ratrods together with pretty much whatever they can get their hands on. Their cars may not be the most pretty, but they make up for that by applying their technical know-how to get the most performance out of them. The other club or gang, will be a bunch of high school or college (haven't decided which yet) jocks that have had everything handed to them all their lives and have never really known want. This includes brand new shiney cars that daddy's money has paid for. Because they come from the upper class, they look down upon the other gang and often pick fights or thumb their noses at them. That's about all I have right now as far as what I have planned, I don't want to give away any of the plot before I actually get it drawn and posted. I hope this description is not too vague and will intrigue atleast some of you to want to follow along as this story comes to life. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will gladly answer them as best I can. Take care and thanks for stopping by!
My female subjects
Posted 13 years agoWell, if you have browsed my gallery, you will notice that I have been doing alot of female characters lately. To be honest, I am terrible about coming up with names for them, perhaps it's because I feel that my work so far has been only practice and I haven't created a story for any of the ladies I have drawn thus far. So, I will ask this of you, the viewer. How would you like to submit suggestions for names of my characters I have drawn so far? Lazy on my part? Perhaps. On the other hand, I could see it being sort of fun for some of you who are a fan of a particular gal to give her her name. Just post a comment and lemme know which pic the name should go with and I will eventually pic the name I like the best for each character. I will give credit to whomever submitted the name I select. Anywho, hope that might be a little fun, enjoy the art! And of course, thank you very much to all who have fav'd and have chosen to watch me.
