General | Posted 6 years agoProblematic Fetishes: Snuff, Vore, Death etc - A Discussion.
General | Posted 6 years agoSo been using the search feature on FA the past few days, and I have come across a few pieces that got my brain turning a bit more than normal, and this is part in regards to a journal I saw and read through from another artist who will remain nameless to appease the gods of FA. [I presume most of you may know to whom I am referring the more I outline my thoughts.]
The journal was centered around the posting of darker/problematic content and linked in it was several articles to Psychology Today and few other websites, and the articles discussed the ideas of how natural these fantasies are and how trying to repress them can lead to shame. Which okay, fair is fair, but none of them discussed why or what people get from these fantasies, how are they being manipulated, what is being ignored, or not ignored, how realistic are they, and etc.
I get in fantasy one can do as they please because in the end it doesn't change much and the scenario is completely controlled., but one of the articles did hint that it can and sometimes does go to far, but these feels like that article was an after thought to be added to the journal, because I would like to see more data on when and how things go to far, or if it as rare as it seems.
The other thing that disappointed me was that the journal disallowed comments on the topic, forcing it into PM's and other private messages, and a person of science I sort of despise this sort of thing. I try my damnedest to not do that, because I feel it takes away any open criticism or chances that people have to learn from each other, and that makes me sad. It sort of shelters it to those who might turn it into an echoing chamber.
So quick disclaimer - Follow up questions that I might ask may be pointed, direct, and even seem downright rude to a degree, but these questions are not because I want to be insensitive, but because I want to know and maybe understand how you and others think and process information. I am direct and sharp in questions to prevent any sort of convoluted conversations that are not insightful or provide relevant information. And I hope this can be a group discussion and I will respond when I can, so it may be slow going, but I also hope that no banning will occur and that we should all be adults and try to discuss things with an air of civility and if need be, define terms ahead of time to prevent any sort of lost in translation issues.
So my first question is...WHY?

[BOOST] Friend Needs a Little Help.
General | Posted 6 years agoA friend of mine, Ainoko, recently got an eviction notice from his land lord even after his funds say they were transferred from his bank account, so he is in need of a little help. I am not going to put too much here, but here are the links to the relevant.

General | Posted 7 years agoTwitter is NOT a Gallery
General | Posted 7 years agoSeriously, riddle me this, why are so many artists seemingly using exclusively twitter to post art when it is not a gallery in the slightest. I have been going through one artists feed to find that like 75% of what he has made is not posted to FA and it has taken well over half hour to get through just a tiny fraction of his full feed. There is no optimal search tool for just displaying media that I can see.
I mean it take an extra, what, 3 minutes to post something to FA and not really edit it at all, just select the rating and add like a word or two to the description like you did on Twitter.
And the 15 pieces that I have found and liked enough to save would have taken someone on FA half the time if not one-fourth the time to get through all of them because they would have all be on a single page.
Also you are literally excluding like 90% of your audience when doing this especially for those that have no use for a twitter.
Some one give me a rational answer to why an artist would post tons of stuff to a non-gallery site and basically alienate 90% of their audience from their work.

This is why it is important to have conversations with a lot of people, not just people that agree with you. do not fall into the trap of an echoing chamber, welcome challenging ideas and challenges to the things you hold dear, and use it to evaluate those ideas.
I try hard to not block people, and I am always willing [almost always, I need to sleep and eat and work too] to have a lengthy conversation with someone over just about anything, because it is good to be challenged, only in adversity do we grow.

General | Posted 7 years agoBack From DenFur and a week of work.
General | Posted 7 years agoThis is a bit delay, but I did attend DenFur last weeked, and I will say that I really liked it. It went really well. It seemed emptier than RMFC, but that could also just be the venue. and how they divided the Dealer's Den and an Artists Alley.
There were a few interesting panels, Though some of the ones I wanted to attend were canceled either from the panelist not showing or being out sick, but overall I enjoyed it. Adult Fursuit charades was fun as always.
Got a few prints, and bought some awesome art that I will be sharing soon-ish, had a long week of work immediately after, so still taking care of things a bit.
But anyway, I am off.

Going to DenFur, does Anyone Still Need a Roommate
General | Posted 7 years agoI know this is late, but I did get myself a spot for Denfur, I am wondering if anyone still needs a roommate or would be interested in splitting a room.
It would be for Friday and Saturday night as I am semi local [I live pretty decently North]
Also if you know anyone else who is going, can I ask that you do a huge favor and ask them if they are looking for a roommate for those two nights.
Thanks ALL!
