So it literally seems like Patreon is very uncreative when it comes to solving problems that users are having.

Also I am sorry to all those that I supported, but I did delete all of my pledges, because I could no longer after to support those that I had signed up because it the fees would push me over my budget, so I decided if I have to delete some as a result of this, then I should delete them all instead of having to pick and choose, because I would have felt bad for choosing some over others and I could not bring myself to do that.

I know other members have had to remove their pledges because it would make the fees from their bank for foreign currency than what they would be giving to the creators.

The "double charging" has multiple solutions, and if the fees are a big deal for the individual charges there are also additional fixes for that as well, like asking if the patron would like to have instant access and be charged up front and then starting at the first of the month, or waiting until the 1st of the next month to get access. Other solution would include new pledge black out windows and then adding a small processing fee for new immediate charges before the first of the month.

There is so many options that could have been done that wouldn't have messed with the system that much and still be pretty acceptable to a vast majority of people.

Here is my thoughts how this will go, because the creators have good complaints about taxes and the fees changing, which I get, but ultimately this will be a lose lose for everyone, especially those who support a good handful of creators.

From the Patrons POV:
This is more for those that pledge to more than just 2-3 people, but like 10-20. For even numbers we will use a few estimates. $5 pledges will now be about $5.50/pledge and if person X is supporting 20 creators, the previous payment was 100 dollars, and let's assume that is their absolute budget limit. With the new system that cost will become 110/month. So if their budget is capped at 100 dollars we use 100/5.50 to 18.18 is the most they could support, so they would need to eliminate a minimum or 2 creators, but let's say they do 3 just to be safe. But now apply this same math to those support at 10 Dollar tiers and the math is the same, but the numbers of loss could be more. Now people can lower the amount they are pledging to each creator, but now let's look at both a creators POV.

The Creators POV:
Now as stated before, the fees each month change for creators so it is never clear how much will be lost, but you do have people whose credit cards expired and they didn't know it, so that is a good explanation, and yes it can make taxes difficult, but here is who losing pledges could effect a creators.

Scenario 1: Complete removal of pledges.
Simply put, getting to keep even 85% of what is pledged is better than keeping 0%, that is the simple truth, but let's say you have a creator who has tons of patrons, but those patrons also support at least 5 other creators of some type. But this creator knows the rewards they offer may not be to the same high level as other creators, not bad, but definitely not huge. So in this scenario we are saying that patrons will just delete pledges. so they get no revenue at all. But of there patrons, we know that some will delete the pledges and some will choose to stay for various reasons, we can predict that with people cancelling pledges because they are supporting at least 5 other, there is a good chance that they will lose anywhere from 5-30% of their pledges thus reducing their overall gains far more than just what the fees took out.

Scenario 2: Patrons will reduce pledges.
Let's assume pledge amounts are moved 1 tier down for most patrons on all their pledges. Typical tiers are 1, 5, 10, and 25 Dollars. And let's assume an even distribution. so 25% of patrons fit into each category and for simplicity to illustrate percentage lost, we will just say each category has 25 people for 1025 dollars in pledges. Let us also assume that creators will keep 80% of that for a grand total of 820 at the end of it all. If everyone goes 1 tier down with 1 dollars pledges and now no longer having any 25 dollar pledges staying the same you get 250 before the 5% fee of patreon. The creator now gets only 237.5 dollars 237.5/820 and the creator is now only making 28% of what they were before.

So I hope this very crude example will illustrate that creators will ultimately lose more in the end than if they just do pay up front and then consolidate payments to the 1st day or the last day of each month so that not only can patrons budget, but so can creators. Yes the taxes would be complicated for the creator, but it would be smarter for Patreon to provide effectively a pay stub with each line item outlined each month such that it shows Patreons cut, the total processing fee, and then whatever other items Patreon needs to include with a gross total at the end. LIKE ANY OTHER COMPANY does when paying employees, and realistically, it would not be that hard to run it this way, you could have a program do all the math for you, for the patrons whose payments processed. And then you could even do weekly stubs to pick up the pay up front ones through out the week.

So just a heads up, there is an impending spam of INKtober pieces, I have already done the adjustments on it, but.....I had to stop at 14 because it was starting to get tedious, because I had to try and play catch up, and trying to come up with and do 2-4 ideas a day is very draining.

So I am going to upload what I have, and call it good, they had to be scanned separate because they were on 6" x 8" paper, so only one could fit on my scanner at a time.

An artist that I only met recently but who is absolutely wonderful and does really outstandingly detailed art needs a little help getting some new supplies so that she can be tutor from home, because much of her old supplies need some updating.

So quick update, I have worked as a pharmacy tech a few times now [8 days completed] and so far it has been fair, not great but not bad, having nice coworkers is making things a bit easier. I think it will be manageable. So that is good news.

Semi-bad news is that Aqua Imports is having a hard time working around my schedule with the pharmacy, but they are trying, so it is touchy.

And thus why I want to try commissions instead of Lyft to fill in the gaps. I will still likely to Lyft to pick up some extra money.

So I started a new job as a pharmacy technician with a grocer called King Soopers [More for those who live in areas that may not have this particular grocer] and so far based on what I have already learned about the position through for their computer training modules, I am beginning to realize exactly why I wanted to avoid the medical industry at all costs. I figured this would be simple enough that it would be okay and that it would be something that I was capable of, but at the moment I have my doubts. The computer modules themselves are terrible, but that aside I am more concerned with what I have learned for the position itself. So I guess we will see, but I really can't just drop it with the pay I will be making.

I was also offered more hours for Aqua Imports on top of this, but...I can't take them up on that because of the Pharmacy job, and they are a bit frustrated because I am not really getting any sort of scheduling information from the pharmacy manager because other managers are not getting back to her. So one big mess at the moment.

I am kind of at a loss. on the one hand I feel I may have jumped the gun with thinking I would be cut for a pharmacy tech job, but on the other hand, Aqua Imports was not giving me hours at the time, and there was no way for them to pay me enough to sustain myself, and then Lyft was not going as well as I hoped either [I blew through a tank of gas in 3 days with an average of about 5-6 days when I was driving more for Lyft, so about 1/3 of what I made was just to pay for gas to continue driving for them]. Also I have been told that I MUST complete my goals that I set for working on moving out on my own, which I don't see happening unless I sacrifice my health to do so, and if I don't meet them, that may accelerate my potential eviction, so yeah, my life is just lovely.

So if I seem distant or slow with working on things, if I work on them at all, this is why.

Because I don't know where to begin this may seem out of the blue, I tend to leave life stuff outside of the internet, and I tend to like to deal with things on my own and not bother any of my watchers with this sort of stuff.

But to put it simply things have not been well since May with losing my job at PetSmart. I tried getting Lab Tech positions with CU and other science related position that I had found on Indeed and virtually none of those were successful, and the two potential ones I had were not what I expected after the interviews, which meant of course the interviewers could tell that I was not going to be a good fit. Since then I started trying to look into retail, and so far nothing there, but I thought I had a stroke of luck starting a job at Aqua Imports and starting Lyft. I like Aqua Imports, it is different and interesting, and I get to work with a much broader variety of fish and reptiles, but some of the standards are a little different, the big kicker is that I like Lyft, but with only 16 rides given and few low star rating means that it is not going as well as I had hoped and it didn't help that the first two weeks were just bad due to issues with the SIM card in my phone. Now that I have done both for a few weeks and have been looking for other work with little success; I may have to cave and work for Petco, which from what I have heard from former employees there, it is kind of iffy overall compared to PetSmart. Oh not to mention that earlier this week I had to pay 800 dollars to fix my cars engine and my suspension, and with how little I am making and needing to pay rent, I quite literally broke and even more literally at the end of my rope with being expected to keep to a timeline for moving out that I do not believe I can keep to, so I may be getting kicked out soon, and this was accelerated thanks to needing to call the cops [long story short; an argument got physical and the only reason I can stay is because I pay rent], and that is in relation to not finding work, which is in relation to what happened at PetSmart back in May.

This brings me to the next order of things going on my life and that i was more than willing to move on and bury the hatchet so to speak back in and May and just find better work. Back then there was a lot of information that I found out had been shared and a lot of other info that was not shared during the whole event and I decided to not share it because I didn't want to cause more issues than there already were, nor did I to potentially ruin someone else's career with PetSmar; in part because I still cared and in part because I didn't think it would ultimately matter. And now I recently found out that...defamatory comments are being made about me still and with peoples who really were not involved and have no business knowing. So much for letting it go, right? There is a number of reasons I find this rather troubling, because I and the other people involved know the full truth and I am sure information is being twisted to vilify me, and I really hope karma eventually does it thing or that the person will do the right thing.

Right now I am just kind of at a loss. I will not go into detail about what happened back in May, please don't ask. I absolutely hate drama, and I hate that it is still following me around as it is. I wanted it to be done and over with and for it to go away and just move on, but apparently I can't because I cannot tell if my professional career has gone down the drain.

So with having recently lost my job and been out job hunting for about 2-3 weeks now, I have decided that I would like to attempt officially taking commissions again. Last time I tried this, it was not very fruitful for gathering interest in the slightest, and most who seemed interested initially never actually took anything so I took down everything remotely close to commission information and only took them informally from people who personally messaged me about them.

I sadly did not plan on losing my job so I don't exactly have a lot prepared for commission related materials in way of prices and etc, but I do want to at least see if there is any interest at all before I commit to trying and getting those resources hammered into place. I would only start with a few, maybe like 3 mostly because I want to not over load myself because I still need to work on finding a job and getting resumes and cover letters tailored for job applications.

Payment is flexible, though I would prefer to use paypal so that I can either turn around and use that money for something else online, e.g. art supplies or I can hopefully stick it in my bank account. I have about 2 months worth of money in saving, so I am not desperate yet, but doing commissions will mean that I will have something to use on more than just rent, which would be be nice.

I do traditional media work, still not super handy with digital stuff, and I honestly work faster in traditional as it is.

...you cross a line with a friend that you didn't know you were crossing and then things just fall apart from there.

I don't usually write journals like this, but I really don't know what else to do, because the gist of it is that something happened, and I can't talk about it in details so I am just kind of venting this general frustration, because this is not the first time it has happened, but then because of the context of it, I can't talk with the person about it either.

No names or anything will be mentioned or even what it is over, just wishing I could talk it out, because that is the way things used to be for friends. You'd say something, cross a line, and then you would talk it out, fight it out, or something and hopefully you both felt better afterwards.

Anyone who has known me for anything length of time knows that I don't ever intentionally hurt someone in any form of what it means to cause harm. And if I do hurt someone, even unintentionally, I feel terrible, especially when it makes a friendship rocky, or completely obliterates it.

I just have been hit so hard that feel like my understanding of the world has been shattered and now lost in my own mind as I try to process all that has transpired in the past 12 hours.

In short, a friend of mine would like help gathering some funds for a rental car to make the trip a little more feasible for the rest of his family and so that he can be well rested for the service itself.

I usually avoid doing these things, but I felt this one was rather important as this is something you really can only do once or it is gone.

So going to keep this short, we are officially moving this weekend, and I will say this much. I hate it, I hate the house, I hate the layout of the outlets and vent in my room, I hate the overall floor plan to the house. It is twice the distance from my work, the layout of the neighborhood his 100% stupid. Bunch of roads with a ton of small drive in areas surrounded by four houses so that you can literally only ever have the cars there that will fit into the garage.

Overall I have been so stressed trying to figure out how I am going to make my room layout work and just the uneasy feeling of the house overall that I have not eaten at all since I went to visit the house to get some measurements.
