Lookin to get a big commission done
Posted 2 years agoI'm gonna do some browsing of my own but I'm putting this here in case anyone wants to help me out and leave some suggestions. I would like to try and see if I can commission someone to draw my spooky cast of characters that I have. That's a total of ten characters, mostly humanoid with a few exceptions:

If ya'll know anyone ambitious, reliable, and stylin'-snazzy enough to take on this feat, please let me know so I can give them a look over and decide for myself.
Appreciate any help. Until then, stay spooky~

Knight & Rogue World Lore

Knight & Rogue World Lore
Posted 3 years agoI finally got around writing up background lore of how the world of Knight & Rogue came to be:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....56aEraF1g/edit
I'm kind of a shit writer but I have a friend who has a far better way with words editing and making it sound a lot more elegant.
Anything before the highlighted part has been edited by him, after that is what I originally had typed.
Hopefully get around to doing more of this and flesh out a bit of the plot Knight's party and Solstice's crew go through.

Slow Productivity
Posted 5 years agoHeyo, I'm around. Going light on the art because FFXIV is taking my life again. I get to be a nice knighto~
It may be a while before I get to drawing something, but I'm around and just checking in and leaving a little list of what else may be taking productivity time away from me:
+I need a DPS class that I like, or two, or three, and suffer
+I need to finish Bug Fables
+Oddity, formerly known as fan-made "Mother 4," has a new teaser
+Silksong
+RE3
Welp, that's it for me. Back to the grind~
May your days be going well.

A Small Panic
Posted 7 years agoSeptember and October are the best months
Summer's ending, and you feel more lively as you're being sounded by decorations of the dead
You want to do things, and get outside often
Then immediately after Halloween, the two months of the sad boy come around
It's a comfy kind of sad though, as you're more surrounded by merriment and family, and while you generally keep to yourself there's no time to get overly emotional
Then New Year's hits and all that bottled rage comes out
Brand new year, same ol' shit
It's hell for a full eight months, with an emotional outburst roughly every other month
Spring comes and everything is too bright and colorful
Summer arrives and everything is aggravating and busy
Then September comes back and you want to actually do something bigger than last year while you still have time
But it doesn't matter because you'll always want more
Then you hide it all again when November comes
THEN NEW YEARS HAPPENS AND EVERYTHINGS THE SAME OL SHIT AGAIN
AND ALL YOU REALLY WANT TO DO ISAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Hopefully that was relatable.

Where The Hell Was I?
Posted 7 years agoSo I've been gone for months.
I had lost all motivation to do any drawing during that period, to do anything at all really, besides going to work which is what was throwing me off.
I'm trying to get back into the swing of things with light doodles, brainstorming game ideas and mechanics for games I'm never actually going to make, and wasting my life away in an MMO. You know, the FUN stuff.
I'm hoping to find a healthy balance of life outside, "productivity," and the typical degenerate yet satisfying life I've always had.
So let's bust out the drank. Fumble around in FFXIV, and... I dunno, draw more knights and skeletons I guess because I'm a freak.

Games and Work Will Be Keeping Me Busy
Posted 8 years agoArt will be uploaded a bit slower since I have somewhat of a life now.
Games that are distracting me right now are Battle Chasers and Cuphead.
Etrian Odyssey 5 is coming out the 17th, so I'm hyped for that too.
I might stream them sometime.
Hope you guys are doing well.

Knight & Rogue World Building
Posted 8 years agoIdea dump.
The Seven races
Human - the most versatile and considered by the spirits to be the "perfect vessels." Can retain any of the four elements with ease.
Dwarf- the result of too much Fire and Earth influence, this stocky race are hardy and honest.
Elf- the result of too much Water and Wind influence, they are tall, slim and whimsical.
Orc- A race created by Undine to make home in and cleanse the waters. Tusked and muscular, they evolved to handle themselves remarkably on land as well and to this day are seafarers.
Fawnae- A race created by Ifrit to regulate the world's core. Originally, they did not look like the deer and rodent hybrid as they do today, but instead consisted of several kinds of chimeric fusions.
Warden- A race created by Gnome to purify the land. They were more construct than living being, but since evolved to gain personality and intelligence. They were blessed by Gnome and given the ability to prosper in their own society. They take the appearance of armor suits.
Blank- A race created by Sylph to occupy the world. Slyph is the least experienced spirit when it comes to creating life, and as such, the Blanks miss facial features a human would have save for a mouth. Wise and prophetic, they live peacefully with other races.
Sub races
Monsters that exhibit signs of humanoid intelligence such as speech, most often in broken common, and build livable structures as homes and create a society amongst themselves. They usually are aggressive in nature, but in rare cases, can convert to a humanoid society with a lot of work and care. Examples of monsters in this category include, but are not limited to: goblins, kobolds, lizardmen, treants, fairies, centaurs.
360 day cycle, 8 months, 45 days a month
Unaqua, Biland, Triventus, Quadfume, Pentaflare, Hexair, Septerra, Octsea
For zodiac signs, there are eight of them; one for each month:
Unaqua- Light Water, a mermaid (Cleric)
Biland- Dark Earth, a minotaur (Ogre)
Triventus- Light Wind, a fairy (Lyra)
Quadfume- Dark Fire, a cockatrice (Mage)
Pentaflare- Light Fire, a dragon (Duke)
Hexair- Dark Wind, a wraith (Rogue)
Septerra- Light Earth, a valkyrie (Knight)
Octsea- Dark Water, a kraken (Rez and Eclipse)
World name is Gius Menephit, (gee-yus men-eh-fit) hard G
This will also be the name of the common language.

Posted 8 years agoIt wasn't very long ago when I thought that today was supposed to be the day that I'd check out for good, yet here I still am.
My mind is a little more in order, although if I spoke out too much, then one would still think that I need help.
I know what I must do, I know what I want to do, and to do either of those, then I must live.
Depression is a scary thing, and while I'm on the "right" path now, I still need to fight it.
Here's to another year with my loved ones.
Cheers all.

Posted 8 years agoI'm back.
I hit a road bump in life and I'm working on getting back on track. Hoping for the best.
I'll see if I can upload some new things I've been thinking about. I have a few paper doodles and debating if I'll scan them or not.
It might be a while, but I thank those who've stuck around and my new Watchers.

Game Ideas/Brainstorms Doodles, Feedback Appreciated
Posted 8 years agoJust sharing what I've been doing recently. I take these ideas a lot more seriously than any typical art I do, thus constructive criticism, comments and questions deeply appreciated.
Because my friend got me in a beat'em-up mood:
Mage combo example: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....44/unknown.png
Friend and I discussed that the projectiles should have a shadow, and that shadow would also be their hitbox. We realized that an isometric perspective is rather difficult to work with when you're trying to do fancy stuff like this.
Mage's Light attacks would be projectile based (mid to long range), while her Heavy attacks or glove/magic hand based (mostly close range with some long range.)
Names for the moves Mage used in the previous pic: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....16/unknown.png
Nothing else to really see here, only purpose of this one is to serve as a reminder to possibly name her moves around the theme of onomatopoeia.
Light+Heavy attack: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....06/unknown.png
The purpose of this button combo is to serve as an AOE when surrounded. This shows off rough ideas of L+H for each character.
Mage's attack would have outrageous knock back, so much so that enemies can rebound off the edge of the screen and back to possibly ricochet off the opposite side. Scott Pilgrim vs The World comes to mind. Bouncy bodies like this is an idea my friend would like to try out in code.
Stage select screen: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....68/unknown.png
A less serious doodle for the sake of cute. Characters selected would show up on the bottom as they look at the quest board. There would be several stages, but only five would be needed to complete to open the final area and beat the game. The other stages would still be playable after the initial five with the final quest now available to select from the board as well.
More basic inputs: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....28/unknown.png
This also shows off an idea for Knight's grab and what to do with grab attacks in general. The left/right while blocking bit is specifically to roll, not so much a side step/hop. Knight, as an example would not able to roll, unless I give him the Dark Souls fat roll hah~
Attract Mode mock-up: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....50/unknown.png
Rough simple idea for a stage. Pitfalls, zigzagging paths, enemies popping in from the background.
That's about all I got. Had a lot of fun with this, let me know what you guys think.
Side note: maybe, if fate allows it, I could draw out that Attract Mode sketch to completion.

Game Ideas/Brainstorms
Posted 8 years agoThought of a new video game concept this morning.
Genre: Action RPG. Maybe a lil' open world, maybe a lil' Dark Souls-esque.
Ready? Go.
Emphasis/Gimmick: Taking my knight race and focusing on their physical body and health.
As you progress, you get skill points as with any game in the genre. You put them into abilities mainly consisting of defensive perks or abilities knights are adept with: more stamina/HP, ailment resistance, climb strength, a form of earth bending etc, with the main gimmick being shedding their outer shell. It's basically like resetting your skill points, while raising the maximum potential of your skills as a result at the expense of being very fragile for a period of time. Some skills are locked until you have shed a few times, giving these skills a sort of metroidvania style of making progress in certain areas.
One of the main problems however is this mechanic could be very grindy depending on how it's utilized, and there could be points where it's like, "Okay, there's a boss ahead, but I'm not specialized in the right way and I don't want to shed shell and grind back up to get the better perks." So, there would have to be more passive benefits to shedding, such as innately increasing maximum HP, though, you'll still be made of glass for in this time, taking extra damage.
There could also possibly be a punishing factor where if you get beat down too much, you might have to preemptively shed to repair. Thus shell durability would need it's own health bar and a means to heal it.
Overall, you slowly become more and more of a tanking monster, rather than a super powerful rawr-smash hero. That's kinda what I'm going for: using a knight's physical ability to overcome enemies and environments through durability and toughness over raw strength.
A typical late game protagonist would still have to clear foes out of the way, and yes it can be fun and satisfying in its own right.
On the other hand, the late game knight as the main protagonist won't have to deal with enemies when they have access to stuff like knockback resistance, stagger resist/super armor, and having enemies reeling back as they clink hits off them, and to me that can also be just as satisfying.
It may sound like end game is trivialized but needless to say there would still be some hazards to actually worry about, and as far as difficulty goes, I suppose I imagine it rather challenging early on and possibly whenever the shell is shed. By end game, those early areas would be a delightful romp much like a stage from a Kirby game: being frighteningly overpowered, but having a blast with it. We all want a chance to be like this:

I needed this in my life before it was too late.
Friend of mine told me about this new game he had never heard of either, and it's the first game in a while that I felt the need to play it immediately. He was kind enough to gift it to me and I made a bit of progress in it; liking it so far.
Trailer pretty much speaks for itself. It's a Metroidvania, inspired by Dark Souls, and with cutesy character designs.
Any of those peak your interest, by all means, give it a shot.

Escapism
Posted 8 years agoPlaying some Starbound recently. Took the time to decorate a home for myself, which is something I typically never care to do in sandbox games:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....40/unknown.png
A four-sided dirt wall with a bed usually would suffice for me. Not sure if I'll make a house on land, I'll have to see; a ship shouldn't really be your "home."
Thinkin' drinks tomorrow, expect a drunk journal, possibly.
